Go for a nice beigey yellow colour, you can just make it to your own specs, just try and make a colour that appeals to you. the colour that i made was for someone else who wanted a nice pale yellow colour to show vintage but as if it well cared for and looked after. edge

Right Guys!! Good News and Bad news! I'll go for the good news first... I am doing well and am in good health, oh and Chelsea keep winning which is good too. HOWEVER, the bad news is... The PAW, she is dead, she was sitting idley minding her own business and now she wil not start. SHe winds fine but there is no go juice and alas she will not tick. I am really [censored] off that this has happened while it is with me, cos I can't get abusive and blame anyone else for mistreating it, she was litterally sitting doing nothing on my desk for an afternoon wound down, and when I went to revive her, nothing, NADA! I have opened her up to have a wee look but nothing too obvious jumps out at me and I am a cosmetic kinda guy not a movement specialist. The jist is that she winds and all the wheel and cogs seem to work fine,the ones I can see that is, however the winding doesn't start the spring moving thing lol. The watch will tick if I swivel it to get the spring thing moving but the movement I put into soon discipates and then again we have Nada. I need some help to save the PAW!!! Not that I want to gloat but, Get it Right Up Ye! First off let us all ponder as to WHY on earth, Sissoko didn't get sent off??? Yellow card was just, then he made 2 tackles afterwards one on Lamps, the other on Batman's Sidekick which were worse, and yet managed to escape punishment. Oh and Ballack deserved to walk, poor tackle and rules is rules! Next off we have an absolute wonder strike from Didier "absolute diddy" Drogba, which NOONE was expecting so no blame can be allayed with Reina. Liverpool should have had a penalty as Lamps definately pushed stevie, HOWEVER so should we when we had a man Assaulted by Carragher and Agger in the box, so all's fair in love an footy. At the end of the day a decent performance from us a man down, and a poor showing from a decidely unimpressive LFC side who have a long way to go. I am looking forward to having a fully fit Chelsea side which can utilise all of the assest that they have aquired over the past 2 seasons. The title is still Chelsea's to lose, as they are going to be the most consistant yet again this year, but hopefully it won't be over at christmas like last year and there will be a few teams in the mix come the end of the season. As for Man U, couldn't have happened to a better team. Hate them, and they had played nobody and suddenly they were world beaters, they have no squad depth and are not prepared adequately for a long season. I look forward to seeing them lose more often. Good effort to Arsenal, not a big fan of your's either but a draw or an arsenal win was always gonna be the best and also most likely outcome.

It is official. THE PAW HAS ARRIVED. I have now taken receipt of the PAW and will be showing it a good time around the lovely sights of Edinburgh, will take pics and post them here for your viewing pleasure. As an aside I will be wearing said PAW tomorrow which is my birthday, my 21st none the less so it's the first birthday honour for the little bugger and it's a memmorable one. I will do my best for decent weather for you guys in the pics, but today it was soooooooooooo wet. Shame cos it's been sunny for the last week lol. The PAW has brought shitty weather with it lol. One question for every one WHY THE HELL DOES EVERYONE USE THE THIRD PLACE TROPHY. I keep seeing them around, who the hell wants to be third lol. I got congrats in the ageing a dial thread, with a third place cup, this is cool, but Who Finished Second and First, I'll have them taken out lol. It doesn't matter if you make little mistakes with the Nigth Colour, because if yoyu do and you aren't happy with it it peels right off very easily. Honestly it comes off easily with your nail or whatever, give it a go and don't worry, it'll work out honest.

Short answer, No, NY is mega expensive for accomodation, and especially aroung christmas and new year. Last time I was there I stayed in some artsy place next to the sex museum, and it was a crappy room with no complimentary meals or anything, just plain old crappy twin room, and that was costing almost $200 a night, between $150 and $200, it changed every night lol. Can't remember the name of the place, it begins with a G, and was named after an artist of some sort. Anyway, will be pretty tough to get accom for that price range, lemme know if you manage it, and lemme know what the rooms are like lol.

Arsenal have been somewhat put down by the pundits, but I think they will be a serious challenge for the title this year. The only MAJOR problem I have with them is that they have NO brittish player in the squad. NOT 1 british player in the squad for the game today. Sorry but IMHO that's Pathetic.

Being an avid MU hater, and also not a fan of England (Football Team), I have no love lost for Davy Becks, but I have to say having watched approx 20-30 games from La Liga and Real in particular over the last 2 seasons, I have to say I find the comments derviding his work rate as completely unfounded. Without doubt for large chunks of last season was he not only their best player, but was doing more work than the rest of them combined, granted no mean feat but hey. His work rate is exceptional and has not gone unoticed in spain as they were aware of his Playboy persona when he arrived but he is now adored but the Real faithful for his determination and drive, with which he play most games for them And this from me, who doesn't even like him that much, I think that he has been way overrated for far too long, however it's funny how fickle football is, as he's playing his best football of his career at RM and is getting pelters for it in england.

Also in the Edge's Guide to Watch Mods thread pinned in the Watch Repair and Upgrade section So by now I’m sure that most of you have seen my attempts at vintagizing a 1680 dial. I am extremely happy with the results and am very happy with the extremely complimentary comments that have come from the member. Due to some demand I have put together this tutorial as a “How To…” If you haven’t seen the dial, then there are pics of the finished product at the end of this post. This is a relatively simple and actually reasonably quick process and really doen’t require that much equipment. The Gear: Americana Yellow Ochre Acrylic Paint - ~$5 on the bay Revell Night Colour - £4.25 from www.modelsforsale.com 1 set of toothpicks - ~$1 from anywhere lol. Tesco for me. 1 x 1680 Hands and Dial (MBW for me) 1 x something to mix the paint/night colour in. I used the pot that my genuine vintage pearls came in. As with most things I am more than sure that you can use any kind of paint or die with the night colour as long as you mix it to YOUR desired shade/colour it should be fine. Personally going into this I spoke to the owner of the watch and he really wanted a genuine looking slightly yellow creamy colour which is so often seen on the genuine vintage watches. So I mixed it to that colour, but you can make the tint to any shade you like, make it blue for all I care lol. Now the procedure:- Drop a few spots of paint into the pot, the acrylic paint I used was quite think, so I thinned it down with quite a lot of water, but that was merely personal preference and to lighten the colour a little. Add a reasonable amount of night colour to the other half of the pot (the lid), you won’t need a lot of night colour for this, so just use maybe half a teaspoon of night colour in the pot. I put enough in to give me a light film across the whole of the base of the lid. Take a toothpick or brush or whatever and add the paint, thinned or not, slowly to the night colour, it will require quite a bit of mixing but that’s cool. Just add as little or a much paint as you want to get your desired colour. Then comes the time for the application. What I found most beneficial in doing this was my surprising patience in what I was doing. The temptation is to lather on a full dot worth of the mixture to cover the whole marker then just let it dry. I don’t advise this, as with the paint in the night colour I found that if you use a lot of the mixture, you have very raised and rubbery looking markers, and this was not the look I was going for. I decided to do it this way….. Take a toothpick, dip it into the paint twice then gently spot it on a dry surface twice, this gets rid of lots of the excess mixture that you have gathered and leaves you with a little bit on the tip of the toothpick. Then I gently applied this very light film to the marker, covering the whole marker with really small spots of the mixture until it was covered. My mixture was quite light so you could actually barely see the mix on the marker, but once it starts to dry you can really start to see it come up, with the grain and then the glow if you cover it. I repeated this process for all the markers, due to the circular nature of the hour markers they were relatively easy, however more care need be taken over the 6,9 and 12 markers as the are rectangular and triangular respectively, so have corners. Because the mixture is quite light in colour the difference between the new tritium look markers and the old white ones isn’t that much so you can get away with missing out a little bit of the markers if you want, as the genuine isn’t perfect by any manner or means. However I decided to practice and try and get as close to the edge as I could without going over, however the gen’s I have seen have sometimes had tritium almost burst and spill over onto the dial itself so don’t worry too much if you get a little on the dial. It can in fact be removed after it dries, with the toothpick if it bothers you, because the dried mixture is actually still quite malleable. Anyway, so now you have applied the mix to the dial, which is pretty simple, as you will find out, but now come the hands which are more fiddly. Hands:- The hands are quite small and require a bit more finesse. Using the same method as above I tried to apply the mix the first time, and struggled to keep off the metal, but actually found that if you go onto the metal a bit, you can remove it when dried. But again I really wasn’t happy, and decided to remove the whole lot from the hands, so started again, slower and more patiently with very little mix going on at a time, and hey presto much easier and much better results. So that’s it, just let it dry and there you have it, simple. Put the watch back together and you have completed the vintaging process. I hope that you find this guide helpful, and please enjoy the few pics of my finished results. I don’t have pics of the hands, as they are back away in the sealed atmosphere they were being kept in and I can’t be arsed taking them out and taking pics, so make do with the dial lol.
