  1. What year/serial? Depending on production, it's sometimes better to not go through an RSC. Knowing which era yours was produced will help better determine direction...
  2. I tend to shoot my pics near a window facing the north; out of direct east/west am/pm sunlight, and my window is comprised of glass blocks, so there is some diffusing: Try different environments, lighting, etc. You'll soon find something that works well and yields good results... Just a matter of trial and error...
  3. Pics look pretty good- However, I would start to work on your lighting Better, diffused lighting + DSLR will result in some sharp snaps! Off to a good start, especially if this is your first attempt with a DSLR!
  4. I had an epiphany the other night while going through old spare bits. I have a couple of left over Sub dials... Glanced at them while pondering the pearl for my PO... And it became apparent to me that the marker was about the same size as what I needed. What's more... The markers on an old WM9 dial I had looked good- Nice rounded tops, slightly recessed luminous... And some gloss over the top to help keep it somewhat weatherproof. I am a bit surprised that no one tried it first... But I'm always glad to try new things for the benefit of my fellow forum friends And in cases like this, glad to provide new solutions to old problems as well.
  5. Now is a good time to pick up gens- Lots of excellent deals out there, and probably room to bargain a bit more as well.
  6. That's actually pretty cool!
  7. Capice- The old pearl is side by side with the new one in post #12 (pics 1 - 5) So, no modification to the old pearl...
  8. I will need to see if my source has any additional stock. When I initially inquired as to whether they had the 4th gen, it took a few days to confirm a yes or no answer. Also, I was limited to this dial and bezel combo (I originally wanted the black bezel with white numerals). That leads me to believe that these might not be readily available, so I'll need to check. If they do have some, I will divulge the info with plat and orange members receiving first priority. In the meantime, I have been informed that Reg and Homer might carry this piece. I know Reg has his POrikaa, but he might be able to get the 4th gen too? I dunno... But that's what I was told. That might be another source to follow up with. As for the pearl- It's the same mod that I did in my first set of pics (post #12), except cleaned up and in better, natural lighting. It's definitely not gen, but rather an unconventional piece that worked well as a pearl I'm still waiting to see if anyone has figured out what I used Re: Happy feet. I will likely be tackling this down the road a bit... Trying to decide on the method I want to use to address this...
  9. That's good to know! Cause the wife has been going out of her way to avoid water and this watch!
  10. I just rinse off my wife's under warm water. If there's gunk in between the links, I have a soft toothbrush that I use solely for watches and work the bristles in to scrub the dirt off. Finish off with a wipe from a soft cloth. I have only performed this method to clean the bracelet. I am hesitant to subject the case/body to water as I haven't had it pressure tested yet, and as such, I'm not sure what to expect in that regard.
  11. 1) You can contact that dealer I had linked and ask if they will sell just the movement a la carte. Some will, some won't. But it never hurts to ask. 2) A PAM88 with the seconds at 9:00 is a 7750/A7750 mod GMT movement. The PAM29 and PAM63 use the Swiss 2893.
  12. DL- Do you have one that you'd like to have done?
  13. Cross sectioned ceramic case autopsy pics... Easily one of the coolest things I've seen with regards to case materials/consturction. Very interesting... And very conclusive that these things are actually solid ceramic. Very cool!
  14. Thanks, Slarti- I agree. It's a great piece. Very well done, with excellent quality. With some mods... It has some even greater potential! Contemplating an orange bezel 4th gen now... Compare both side by side and part with the one that appeals less...
  15. Yeah... I have calling her for parts on my to-do list for today. Unfortunately, I have a lot on my to-do list still EDIT: Hands out of stock but they are now on order
  16. Stress testing the pearl mod on my new 4th gen 42mm today:
  17. I've now seen both for 42mm. Personally, I'm not bothered by it either way; the primary reasons why the clasp is on my list for upgrade (the entire bracelet actually) is because mine is a bit cumbersome to operate, the diver's extension doesn't stay in place and I'd also like to have the deeper hull engraving. Whether it says 'PROFESSIONAL' on it or not is of major concern to me; I'm leaning more towards without as it looks a little cleaner and less cluttered. The bracelet is something I'd like to upgrade as the rep has some issues; the end link gap, weak, flimsy link pins, etc.
  18. That looks nice. I may have to give in to that one...
  19. Let's first see how many can figure out what I did...
  20. Hmmmm... I could probably do a few more...
  21. Thanks, buddy. I appreciate the kind words...
  22. Don't worry. Clasp is on the list to be replaced...
