  1. I like that one in the lower left... Very neat! Of course, I REALLY like your unique custom lumi-radiomir!!
  2. Actually, all YM's have CG issues- Perhaps worse than the Subs. If you look closely, YM crown guards taper in at the base where they meet the case, like this: See how they angle in?
  3. One thing is for sure- Once you've seen a genuine pearl in person, it's appearance and characteristics become very distinct to the eye. It's quite interesting that something so tiny can make such a big difference...
  4. The dial should be one of the easier bits to do... The expensive stuff like tooling up for the case is already done.
  5. Looks good to me! Though, I believe yours is an older example- Note the slight serif on the fonts... I've typically seen those style of insert on the older models (pre-2003)...
  6. Hehe.... Too true! But a good year for us
  7. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing the eye candy!
  8. They're out there... don't give up the hunt!
  9. Purely supply and demand! No question 'bout that. These LV inserts are highly sought after... And it's not just us mod hungry rep modders that are after them
  10. Place smal drops at intervals. You don't want a bead, nor do you want the drops to be too large, as you risk the glue pressing out and gumming up in the ratchet, or between the bezel and the case.
  11. Mmmm... An excellent selection of mods! Only thing I would suggest in addition to this list is a gen tube and crown. It's a huge improvement for function, and it looks rather nice too
  12. BTW... I still think the vintage is the way to go That is... If you're into vintage Roles...
  13. Oh my... I LOVE that crystal!! This one's gonna be sweet....
  14. For install, I usually press the bezel back on without the insert. Once the bezel is seated, I'll turn the bezel a click or two to make sure it's lined up with the click. Then I press the bezel back on aligning the tip of the insert triangle with 12:00.
  15. Yeah... I've seen several genuine 16610's, 14060's, etc. (both in person and in pics) that have the dash markers that either extend edge to edge or don't. A search on TZ alone will result in a mix of styles...
  16. Keeno- I just want to be clear- None of my posts were directed towards you, but rather was a venting of recent events. Sorry to have brought them upon your thread
  17. Wish I had one for you... But unfortunately, I do not But, if I happen to come across one, I'd be glad to let you know (or pick it up for you on your behalf)
  18. I recall a few of mine showing up with some imperfection on the back... Not a huge deal, as I had to grind mine down to fit to the bezel anyways, so no worries there. Based on all that you've mentioned... I think you're alright with that one...
  19. Hmmm... I'm not so sure... Pearl looks a bit too white, though it could be the pics. The pearl should have a glossy irridescence to it, and the pearl's setting should be very thin, and low in profile. As for the finish of the insert... Under direct light, it should appear to be very dark, somewhat glossy black, and in certain lighting conditions where the lighting is not as optimal, it should have almost a matte gray appearance. Hard to explain, so maybe this pic might do a better job of providing an example... As for the rest of it... The back looks okay, but I have to ask- Are these inserts sold as new, or used? These are either used pieces, taken off and being resold, or they are factory seconds. If you look at the 7:00 marker... It might just be my eyes playing tricks on me, but that marker appears to be thicker than the others... Any chance that you can get some additional pics?
  20. Is the Asian 7750 center seconds hand too big, or too small to fit the pinion? If it's too small... Perhaps it can be broached to fit...
  21. If you can get one from one of the RSC's (assuming they'd sell it outright without having the watch in hand to service and install for you), I say get it. Especially at that price. Typically, the cost on these things isn't very much; I seem to recall $50 - $70 or right abouts believe it or not. But that's if you can find them from a direct source, i.e. usually from RSC as a replacement to your existing, damaged insert. On the secondary market, they sell for very high prices as they are commonly used to convert black 16610's into LVs (and are then sold at LV prices to the unsuspecting). I was told that there was one shop that would turn a genuine 16610 into an LV for $950.00 At any rate... If you can find one at a reasonable price, get it!
  22. Well... I suspect there are still some batches of NOS treasures out there. Just recently, one of the well known collectors got a large batch of NOS Tropics for the 6152 Panerai. That's right... NOS! So... Chances are that there are quite a few still out there, just sitting in some watchmaker's drawer or bin.
  23. Color. Shimmer. Font. Markers. Pearl. Setting. But, what was the first thing your eye was drawn to when you first looked at it? For me... It was that marker at 9:00. Everything else listed above fell into place after I studied it. That marker though... That's really no good at all.
