  1. Thanks, Frank. I've got other projects in the works... More frankens, as usual. A 1675 is definitely on the list... Have some others in mind and in progress... More to come
  2. Remind me to never buy a watch from you...
  3. I like it!! Very worn, weathered look to it, like it's seen quite a lot of combat Would love to see a more 'head-on' pic showing the dial
  4. Thanks for the kind words... But I really don't want to make a business out of this sort of thing. I'm just a small collector in the grand scheme of things Seriously though... I only want to show what can be done, in hopes that some of you may be inspired to start a project of your own.
  5. Looks great, Chris! Very similar to the way the tritium has aged on my 1675 dial... Excellent work! And, I think a tutorial/write up would be an excellent addition to the watch mod thread!
  6. Great looking 1665, J! The crystal makes for a HUGE difference! MD- He did this mod...
  7. Damn... Casino Royale looks like it's going to be a good one, regardless of who is playing 007. I had to watch the trailer twice, just for the Aston Martin alone.
  8. Okay... Actually it's closer to 1.5mm at the angled view...
  9. Fri- FrankenDaytona Sat- FrankenSub Sun- FrankenDateJust
  10. Wow... That crown looks thick!
  11. Not sure- I'd have to pop the crystal out of the watch to get an accurate measurement of it, which is something I'd rather not do since I just put it back together. However... As it sits with the watch assembled, the crystal sits a little more than a mm above the bezel's highest point at the inner edge: And, if I look at it at just the right angle, the bevelled edge of the crystal appears to be quite tall (around 2mm alone).
  12. as always, excellent work, my friend. The genuine crown/tube change is one of the best mods you can do purely for function (the aesthetic difference is just icing on the cake). One of the first mods I do on all my Sports Rolex watches... Enjoy, my friend BTW... How many Subs does this make for you now?
  13. I've always used a hand file as well for the CG's. It's slower than a dremel... But the way I see it, slow is good, especially when you're removing material. After all... Once metal is gone, it's no so easy to put back
  14. How are these? I'll get you a better shot of the 1680, as I realize it's not the best. For now... Here is my old MBW 1680 with the exact same crystal to give you an idea of the mag power...
  15. Man... I never realized it before, but getting a decent shot of the datemag (with as little glare or reflection as possible) is really quite difficult. BTW, I measured my crystal across and it's just ever so slightly at 30mm across. I think I need to get a digital micrometer for an ccurate measuring...
  16. Hmmmm... Perhaps that's why I like that pic so much? Maybe Bazz has the same granite surface in his house somewhere?
  17. I have one... But I don't have any Bolles. I might even have one from Tolley as well that I can compare to. I need to check my parts box though, as I think I might have sold the last one I got from AT off a few months back...
  18. Excellent pics, Bazz! I think my favorite is this one: As for the He Valve... I could have sworn mine went all the way through as well. I'll have another look here soon when I pull it all apart to test a new mod in the near future
  19. I usually heat my tubes up with a heat gun... The tubes seemed almost like they were stripped.
  20. Good stuff, and usually not difficult to do Though, I must admit... The last two tubes I tried removing seemed to be more difficult than others in the past. The gen crown/tube makes for a huge difference. A must-do mod in every watch, simply for function.
  21. Modern inserts are very easy to find...
