A genuine 179160 measures at 26mm; so the 26mm measurement of the rep is correct. However... If you are looking for something larger, I'm not aware of any of the 31mm Oysters having been repped as of yet. If you want something slightly bigger, you could do a frankenstein 15000 DATE model, which measures in at 33mm. Basically, this would require a gen case kit, which usually sells for around $200 - $300, an ETA 2824, Dateoverlay and hands from a Tudor Oyster Prince- It would be all genuine on the exterior, but ETA on the interior. Here is a Franken-DateJust I did using the formula above. For the money, it's one of the best frankensteins to put together. The 33mm DATE would be the same concept. Hope this helps...

On the Rolex watches, the datewheel is simply a thin metal overlay that is glued to the ETA datewheel. You can adjust it by removing it, and recentering it. Take a bit of work and practice, but it's not too terribly difficult...

The work needed to convert the unsuspecting item into tritium! It's not a friendly process...

A Swiss Valjoux 7750 with the Asian 7750 B1 transfer gears transplanted just might fit the case physiclaly. After giving this some additional thought since returning your PM, I got to thinking- They offer the Swiss model with this sub dial layout, and most likely with the same case. So, my logic is that they used the Swiss 7750 for those models, B1 transfer bridge and gears, and correct hand set to get it all to work. Just my thoughts on it...

I must say... Having a genuine El Primero 400 in my Daytona, I have the highest respect for the brand as a manufacturer! They know how to put a high quality movement together; and even though the new Rolex 4130 is highly praised, I myself prefer the El Primero...

I think I wear the Sea-Dweller more than the Sub. But both are cherished pieces in my collection...

Hmmmm... Very interesting. Something tells me that the Rolex date overlays might sit too far in-board of the dial. But, it's absolutely worth a try! If not, perhaps some other means of solution can be implemented...
