  1. Maybe you should invite your friend to RWG
  2. My old director has a gen. His has a very soft click.
  3. Vintage models like the 1680 and 1665 are bi directional non-click. They operate on a washer spring. This changed with the 16800/16660 transitional models (sapphire with matte dials on the early versions), as they now had a click spring that made the bezels uni-directional. This design has carried forth through to the current 16610/16600, and is likely to continue in the next iteration (whichever ref that may be)...

    My Sub

Munk- Are you handy with tools, by chance
  5. Figures you would ask this- I just gave my Franken-DateJust away last night, s I don't have mine on hand to check. Thinking back, I recall it being the same as my Sub- 2.5x...
  6. Hmmmm... Should have a very quiet ratchet to it. It's a soft click- Softer than the Subs and SD's, but it should still click...
  7. Technically, the only 'vintage' Yachtmaster is this one: This watch was Eric Clapton's personal watch, which was auctioned for charity in '03 (fetching somewhere around $130k). There has been much debate over the authenticity of the dial as none of them were technically released to the public (they are all in rolex owned safes), though most collectors and experts who have seen the watch first hand believe the dial to be absolutely, 100% genuine. Why it is termed as a Yachtmaster is beyond me... I know that my post strays from the original post, but I thought it was a somewhat relevant topic
  8. Gorgeous pics, Pug! Absolutely incredible (I wish I had your talent )!
  9. Indeed- The cyclops is just a tad too far to the right. You should be able to see the minute chapter between the cyclops and the edge: In addition, you may also want to consider a genuine crown/tube and insert. I've done these to mine, and the changes make for a huge difference; the crown and tube especially as it's a nice functional improvement... Enjoy your Sub! R

    My Sub

Very nice!! Throw a genuine crown/tube and insert on it and call it done!
  11. Beautiful! Absolutely gorgeous! And... Even more so after your CG shaping!! I love it!
  12. I just don't know how you guys do it. That sort of [censored] would drive me nuts....
  13. Speak of the devil... I happen to have your Sub on my wrist today!
  14. Yes- Same as an MBW. The dial characteristics give it away.
  15. Bill... You know you can't just post something like this without pics!! Congrats on the purchase... The 2893 GMT's are very lovely pieces!
  16. You can try here too... http://www.bestswiss-watches.com/ That is also Paul's site as well...
  17. Try Oli (repaustria) or Tommy (palpatine). Both are in the EU...
  18. Hey gang.... How does mine compare? Is it worth selling? j/k! I would never part with this one!
  19. Correct, sir. Just re-seat the links to the bar on the clasp.
  20. Well, the dial feet with regards to these dials is an interesting thing. Obviously, when you look at an MBW dial, the dial feet were once present, but removed as there is evidence of their former presence. That means they had to be sourced from somewhere, possibly for an aftermarket replacement on a genuine 1680 or 1665; if it were a new dial specifically for an MBW, either there would be no evidence of dial feet having been soldered on at one point, or they would be soldered on at ETA positions from the start. Draw your own conclusions...
  21. How about his best-swiss site? Down also? EDIT: Best Swiss is up... And parts of wo-mart are up as well. For instance, if you hit http://www.wo-mart.com/reviews.php, that section of the site is live, and his images are still pulling up in his dealer ads on the forums.
