  1. Sounds like you'll need to tweak the washer spring. Pull the bezel and check it's shape. Adjustments can be made to correct it's feel...
  2. My crystal sits about 1mm above the bezel... Sorry for the poor images... I think my camera is on it's last leg before dying...
  3. Errrr... I thought that was what I said? Crown unscrewed from the tube = runs fine Crown screwed down to the tube = stops If that's the symptom, it sounds like the stem is too long, and is binding or pressing against something (maybe the wheel for the center seconds)? For what it's worth... I've always re-used the same stem as originally came with my watch when swapping crowns/tubes, and haven't had any issues to date. It's possible, however, that the tube you have is too short... I had this problem on one of my old MBW's. I shortened the stem up by a thread or two, and it was just right afterwards...
  4. Excellent write up, Chris! This is what the forum is all about... Sharing ideas and creativity I agree... Sometimes on genuine dials, the tritium has swelled and hence has expanded over the edges of the original marker. I've seen this on a number of vintage dials, from varying dial makers/watch brands; a result of moisture and humidity I assume. Anyhow... This is an excellent tutorial! I hope this inspires others to give it a try Best, R
  5. Well, to give an idea of time frame for the prototype development, my dial guy said it will take 15 to 20 days to have the sample ready. I will have a look at a picture of the dial first; I will probably post those images to the forum to get additional feedback if any is needed. If the sample/prototype looks visually okay, I will have him send me the sample to install in my watch, of which I will post some pics of so that everyone has an idea of how it will look installed. As for quantity of dials produced... I wanted this to be a limited run as scaling this project to a high volume ordeal can come with it's fair share of headaches. However... I will do my best to work with my dial guy to try and accomodate all that are interested in this item. With regards to which version of YM to go with... That is up to you guys. I myself went with the EL 16622 for two reasons- The case and the bezel. However, actual watch preference is up to each individual, as there are varying expectations amongst everyone here
  6. Dial prototype is in the works. I asked that the 'O' in ROLEX is done correctly (eliptical o.d. with round i.d.) and that the YACHT-MASTER font is nice and bold in a dark red font Believe me.... As soon as I see something, you guys will know
  7. So, if you let the watch run with the crown unscrewed, it runs fine, but screw it down to the tube, and it stops? Sounds like the stem is too long to me
  8. Congrats on hitting the 2k mark, Big K!
  9. Who? Me? Actually... I wish I had some crowns to spare... I'm all out...
  10. Good stuff Big J. Glad to see the ol' 1680 is back up and ready to serve some wrist time! Enjoy... Best, Randy
  11. A swap to a genuine crown and tube would fix the problem...
  12. I'm not typically an FM fan, but this one has me salivating!
  13. That 1680/8 insert gives it an interesting look... Would be even sweeter if the bezel markers were silver to match the SS...
  14. Gorgeous IWC's, and the images are absolutely stunning! The Laureus is a beauty- Love that dial and I especially love that caseback!!
  15. Puggy... If the time ever comes for me to part ways with this one, you'll be the first to know
  16. Just like you, I've been through many, my friend But I only have a few left in the collection as of current...
  17. The 2846 is my movement of choice for the vintage Subs. Since they beat at a slower 21600bph, they're a bit closer to the 19800bph of the 1570/5...
  18. I've had a few... And I've seen a few for sale. But they've become extremely difficult to source as there are some less than scrupulous sellers using them to convert regular 16610's into 16610LV's...
  19. That's why I'm asking if he's sure it's gen The pearl's setting is too large and too thick to be genuine. The color of the LV insert is also a very difficult thing to duplicate. For reference... Here is an old shot of a modded LV I had a year ago; this one has a genuine insert installed... Sold off because the rehaut was no good...
  20. Are you sure that's gen? Got a better picture of the pearl?
  21. In my opinion... You just can't go wrong with Josh.
  22. I got my case from acetimer thanks to the recommendations from some of the guys here It's a 10 watch box... Not exactly the highest quality, but for the money it was a great deal.
