  1. Should be 10% off the total cost if I recall correct...
  2. I believe Paul helps to offset that fee by discounting 10%.
  3. Looks like Kenzo's usual method and style for listing watches. I'm at risk to say it, but it appears legit to me.
  4. I have done this numerous times with my DW's along with my MBW's as well. To me, my 'frankensteins' mean more to me than any of my gens, simply because I've had a hand in making them what they are. I wear my reps far more often than any of my other watches...
  5. Indeed- The low cost solution to getting a slow beat like the vintage is the 2846. It's a 21600bph movement, so the seconds hand has the same staggered sweep like the genuine 1570/5 (I'm looking at mine on my wrist while I type). The AS is a much better alternative as the date does rotate in the same direction as gen (counter-clockwise). I posted pics of my AS movements and gen datewheels in manuel's thread here. The genuine silver datewheels are expensive! And that's if you can find one (I spent a solid month looking for one, and luckily I ended up with two); the AS movements I purchased for $8 each. They run but only barely, so they'll need to be serviced and overhauled.
  6. Wowza!! If it's a genuine Scatola, it's gonna be some $$, no matter which model!
  7. How bad is the scratch? Is it down to the base metal? Or just a surface scratch? I have repaired several vintage matte black Rolex dials- An example: Before: Note the scratch at the date window- After: The secret- I use a matte spray on varnish. Works great!
  8. I know exactly what you mean! Can't recall how many times I've stabbed myself in the thumb, finger or hand, etc. with a screwdriver or razorblade while working on a watch. And sometimes those blasted springbars can be the worst!
  9. Personally, and it's just my two cents, but I think dealers should limit new transactions with new buyers to other methods of payment, and reserve the PP option for their more regular customers whom they have repeat business with. This helps offset the risk of having PP complaints from the first time newb who only cares about purchasing one watch. I say this as not everyone has the dealer's or other purchaser's (and forum member's) best interests in mind.
  10. Agree 100%. That's what makes this hobby fun for me. Building and modding watches is far more interesting than just buying a gen
  11. Check out this post by Tourbillon1801: Link. He is installing a very nicely decorated 6948 into his F.A. Jones. Edit: Gran beat me by a minute!
  12. Ugh... Bronchitis. No fun at all. Do they have you on the Z-Pak (zithromax)? Hope you are feeling better, and I wish you a speedy recovery! Cheers, Randy
  13. Correct, Manuel! The genuine Rolex cal 1570/5 has the datewheel rotating counterclockwise (ETAs rotate clockwise)... Genuine silver datewheels: And A.Schild movements (note the datewheel rotation):
  14. Great job Ludo!! Aligning the datewheel with the window is never easy- As I've done a good number of these (along with swapping the datewheel overlay), I know exactly how frustrating that task can be! Looking forward to seeing the finished product! This watch is already gorgeous! When the mods are done, it's going to be a jaw dropper
  15. Nice granite!! A fantastic watch! A perfect candidate for some mods with genuine parts
  16. Kos- VERY nice!! I love the logos.... The GPF is really starting to grow on me as well!
  17. Cocaine's a hell of a drug. I must be losing my mind...
  18. Let's get the ball rolling early... I'll be alternating between these two this Memorial Day weekend...
  19. Man... I have way too many projects going on at the moment. But, perhaps we should talk.
  20. Errr... But the tourbillon isn't visible on the genuine either Link to thePurists. Still... A very pathetic fake none the less Speaking of non-existant tourbillons, I need to see if I still have images of a terribly bad fake with the tourbillon escapement actually printed on the dial. Yes, printed.
  21. Man... I could use one for this project... Been on the back burner for almost a year now... Just haven't felt the need to drop $1k for the movement as of yet.
  22. Indeed. The case may hold true proportions on the exterior, but the manufacturer is going to do everything they can to make fitting an ETA 2836 inside as easy as possible for 'mass' production pieces.
  23. I've come to understand that a 1570/5 is not a direct fit. I have, however heard that the 1520 is (due to the omitted date function).
