  1. Great stuff, as always Rob!! The new cyclops makes a HUGE difference!
  2. Great collection, Ken! What does your project Breitling entail? I'm curious to see how that one turns out! BTW- If you send me your address, I'll send you some Swiffers to take care of dusting some of those watches off
  3. cskent- It's really not a difficult swap at all- The most challenging part in the project was lining up the new overlay to be straight and even while keeping the numbers properly aligned. Other than that, it's a pretty simple job (provided you have all the parts and tools needed to do the work). If you're going to be doing this swap in an Omega, you may not have to deal with an overlay at all. Best of luck in your project!
  4. I did this swap on a watch that I gave to a friend a couple of months ago. I ordered TWG's 21j Asian Auto Sub, and had an ETA laying around that fit perfectly. The only items I changed on the watch were the movement, the movement ring (got rid of the plastic one and used a metal one I had with the screws and clamps), the hands (appropriate 90/150/25 for ETA), and I changed out the bezel insert for a genuine. As for actual modifications that need to take place in order for this swap to work- 1) The dial feet need to be cut off, and the dial needs to be fixed to the movement spacer ring as the dial feet locations are completely different between the two movements. 2) The datewheel overlay from the 21j has to be swapped to the ETA (unless your ETA already has the appropriate overlay on it; in my case, I had to do the swap, as the ETA was new). Here's what I started with... 21j Asian Auto is uncased, and here I've made the datewheel overlay swap. Dial and hands installed, ready to go back into the case. Finished up... Final product. Hope this helps!
  5. He's also been on the cover of GQ sporting his PAM as well. More PAMs feautred in other movies: Link.
  6. Think it's going to be this one for Monday...
  7. Damn.... Maybe I need to put mine up for sale!
  8. That's one way to make the best replica possible Only question is... What do you do with the left over gen parts?
  9. Excellent info and specifics! I see you've been doing quite a lot of studying on the matter, eh UB?
  10. Hmmmm... Dunno about 3-6-9... 12-9-6 should though...
  11. Just think of the bragging rights that come along with owning such a frankenstein!
  12. I believe cwai has done a comparison between his 4th gen PO and genuine PO. If I recall correctly, the cases were the same size across, however there were some differences with other dimentions, like bezel height, etc.
  13. Easy fix; upgrade to a genuine dial. Problem solved.
  14. Doc- I hope that your post encourages others to come forward with their experiences no matter who it is in regards to, be it good or bad. As members in a community, we all owe it to one another to share our experiences no matter what the outcome happens to be. Discussion of experience and thoughts/ideas is what the forum is for, after all. If posts are handled properly, are civil to one another, and the due diligence is performed to try and resolve the problem privately (should any exist), I do not see any harm in that at all. Folks in the position of offering a service or product should be prepared to handle criticism along with praise, and to do so in a graceful and respectable manner; there's something to be said about customer service. On a lighter note, I am glad to hear that you will be getting your watch back.
  15. Thanks, r11co! I was always under the impression that the 2500 was 28.800bph- I think from Odet's write up on the co-axial escapement. But... after looking into it I discovered that was for an old version and that the new one is a slower beat. Learn something new everyday!
  16. Very nice, Mark! I love it!
  17. Errrr... Sorry, but where exactly am I being harsh?
  18. Hmmmm... Might be hard to source that one with the Units Per Hour @ 1:00 instead of 3:00. I'll keep an eye out for one.... Can't promise anything, but if one turns up, I'll let you know!
  19. Is this what you're looking for Andreas?
  20. Ahhh... I see that the 2500C is a 25.200bph movement. Is that what Omega is fitting in the POs?
  21. uhhhh... Unless I missed something, I thought the Omega Caliber 2500 was a 28.800bph movement? As it's derived from an ETA 2892-2, I can't imagine why they'd want to downshift the beat? In that case, I would think the ETA would be the better choice for the movement, as the 21j Asian beats at 21600?
  22. Chronus- It's probably not possible- The automatics were designed specifically to be autos- i.e. they have the correct gears and wheels in place to wind the mainspring from the rotor; they have the clutch in place to prevent overwinding, etc. To take a manual wind movement and make it an auto would require fabrication of bridges to facilitate these functions, and would probably not be cheap or easy. My personal belief is to take a Swiss 7750, remove the functions for 12:00 and 6:00 subdials and leave the running seconds at 9:00 and go that route instead. It's more faithful to the original, and there is no actual engineering that needs to be done to add functions- Only a matter of removing functions
  23. This is the one you guys want: Silver Datewheel for 1570/5. I paid some ridiculous money for mine, so I'll be interested to see where these wheels end up price wise in 6 days
