  1. I just finished building it a couple weeks ago, haven't even had time to test it, yet. Hopefully it will go bang, in a good way!
  2. OK, this is my final dial. I think the lume is about the right color and I thinned the fonts down so nothing bleeds together. I'm pretty happy with it and as soon as my movement gets here it will be on my wrist!
  3. I thinned the fonts down and think it looks much better and also got some powdered dye to tint my lume so will post up attempt two tomorrow.
  4. M, you are right on the lume but that is the best I could do with what I had - it's not really that bad but the flash really washed it out. I have some tan and gold Rit dye on the way that I am going tio try to blend for the correct shade. The 140k figure I saw was from a 2013 (I think) auction. I am going to put in an ETA 2460. I also need to put the fonts on a diet...
  5. When looking around for info concerning the White 1016 I found that it had a predecessor in the 6610 family. I found some decent pictures from a Christies auction where one sold a few years ago in the $140k range! After talking with "the 'goat", and since I had a fresh new batch of water-slide paper, I decided to work up a 6610 dial. Here's a couple shots of the mock-up, I might have got a bit carried away with the dial aging. I have an 18k vph movement on the way and will put this on a strap.
  6. After attempt one it was back to Auto-Cad to put the fonts on a diet. I think I have them about as good as it can get with a laser printer so I'm stickin' a fork in this project! Here's a couple pics with and without lume. The lumed dial I just slopped on a bit of acrylic lume. I made three dials so if there is any interest PM me...
  7. Got in some new decal stock and printed off some dial decals. As is usual with waterslide decal dials they look pretty god as long as you keep the macro lens away from them!
  8. I'm glad you clarified that!
  9. I saw this on fleabay this morning and 'bout fell outa my chair, don't ever remember seeing a BIN price this high B4! If somebody has a pile-o-cash laying around, and decides they have to have it, please post up some pics after you get it! http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROLEX-VINTAGE-DAYTONA-6263-BLACK-PAUL-NEWMAN-RCO-DIAL-STEEL-1969/201291047476?

    Rep cases

The reason is most likely the first word in your thread title! But, I have no idea...
  11. The "donor" movements I've gotten lately all needed worn parts replaced along with a service which is the mail reason I switched to the clones. Now, just need a good low-beat clone movement besides a21j...
  12. Hmmm, I think I need to revisit my pricing model...

    white 1016

For those who have PMed I had to order some more water-slide paper.

    white 1016

I think maybe I'll make some more water-slide decals now that I have a new 1200 dpi laser printer...
  15. I do when the schedule allows, or if it's something really interesting!
  16. It's probably because I'm a dumb-a$$ but I still haven't been able to figure out how to delete a PM!
  17. Messaging interface took a giant step backward IMHO... :-\
  18. Long time, no see. Adopt me and I'll fix your stuff, err, watch stuff that is...
  19. Great job! I never realized the 1601 lugs were longer, never had a gen 1016 case in hand to look at/measure...
  20. Don't want to sound like a whiner but is there any way to select the old message interface?
  21. Gnarly lookin', dude! Looks like it's genuinely worked for a living! I like it!!!
  22. Often when a movement suddenly starts running way fast it's due to a couple hairspring coils sticking together...
  23. I like! It's cousin sez hi...
  24. It SUX! Send it to me and I'll make sure nobody ever sees it again. On a more serious note, great looking watch!
  25. goat - most likely. Glad I read this so I can add him to the list of trolls to NOT do business with...
