  1. Curious as to what you had decided to attach it to your wrist with! The black/grey combo looks good on it.
  2. It's nice to know that the dial will fit the Daytona case - guess I'll have to start looking for one!
  3. We need a wrist shot, Steve...
  4. K, your niece will be in our prayers and remember that often miracles DO happen to deserving souls. I will reiterate the sentiment that you do need to stick around at for the "therapy" provided by TeeJay on occasion!
  5. WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Off to work for the next few days...
  7. Make sure he puts up the "curved" ones, not the "flat" ones...
  8. I hate turning any of them loose but I'm 10 over my limit right now...
  9. M, I don't think you can beat it for the money. I tempted to send the Tiffany down the road and keep this one. Decisions, decisions...

The big thing that kept me from wearing mine was the incorrect subdial spacing. I would have been perfectly happy with it if not for forum inhabitants. If you can find a running seconds at 6 a21j model that might be your best bet as it is thinner and overall comes closer than the fat 7750 models. All that needs to be done is to freeze the sweep hand and you're all set...
  11. It would be nice to not have to screw with DW overlays, be able to use gen hands, etc. I could give a rats a$$ whether the "markings" would fool anybody as I don't go around showing off a watches innards to strangers or try to sell them as "real"... The last clone 3135 I inspected had stamped (as in ink or paint) markings anyway, I'd rather have a sterile one that could be properly engraved later...
  12. I think S should buy a half dozen $30 reps, a tool-kit, and start hacking! He'll be ready to hang out his shingle and be cranking out stuff in short order.
  13. I have built a couple of Explorers using the "reasonably priced" dial from fleabay seller mahand1 and despite their flaws they made a nice looking watch. The only glaring defect (at least to my sometimes less than critical eye) was the numbers being inset a bit too much toward the dial center. I was very pleased and excited when the last dial I ordered seemed to have this issue addressed!! Here is a "Feb" dial: Here is the dial I purchased a couple of weeks ago: It's surprising what a difference a little detail like this can make! I think for the price this dial offers a great "bang-for-the-buck" and makes a credible Explorer while taking pity on your wallet.
  14. A while back I convinced myself that I needed a two-tone of some kind to fill a gap in my collection. I don't know why as I really don't care for TT watches all that much as I consider them too "blingy" for my personality. After building and setting free a couple of examples I decided to give it one more shot before giving up. I had one last Gen Tudor dial that I had always considered a bit "plain" so I ordered in a case and set to work. I cleaned up a RADO signed non-hacking 2836-2 movement (man, it was nasty!!), screwed everything together, and wore it for the rest of the day. Looking down at it, now, I have decided this dial knocked off enough of the "bling edge" that I really liked it! I probably will not wear it very often but for right now it will have a place in the watch-box. It is too bad that 2 of the "trit dots" had fallen off as the remaining ones still have a bit of life left in them! I charged it up real good last night and although they were not bright the glow lasted about as long as that of the rep hands Build Sheet: Gen Tudor Prince Oysterdate tritium dial Gen 5.3mm Rolex crown Rep 34mm TT Tudor case Rep 19mm TT Rolex signed Jubilee bracelet Sapphire crystal RADO signed Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement Rep Prince Date length hands This is likely to be my last Prince Oysterdate Franken as I have finally ran out of Gen dials for this size case. I have one or two "Jumbo" dials left but really don't have any hope of ever finding another case. Here's a few pics...
  15. I think I have one of these rep dials left if you contemplate building a "budget" version...
