  1. I would take the black face personally & as a matter of fact, that is what I am ordering... For me a white face makes a watch appear larger, which for a big watch, not a good thing,... as nothing is better, than something that seems ordinary, upon closer inspection is, extraordinary.
  2. If a watch takes between $20 $100 to make, but sells for between $2000, $50,000, then who is ripping off whom ? So to me the issue of them possibly losing a few sales because of us is a moot point.
  3. One of the PT's had them solid... not too expensive if I recall...
  4. Sport + Pimp,..Hmmm,... I saw him before, on the corner screaming at his [censored], wearing a Nike sweat suit and a pair of Adidas... I guess it was in case he had to run from the cops...
  5. Solid Midlinks, Crown & Bezel TT,... from any color clothes or accessories...you can't go wrong with it,..
  6. Thanks Steve G and Craytonic, I think the VC Overseas will my my next... By the way Steve, in the market for my first Jag,... got tired of the bumpy ride of Bmw, though I do love the way it handles,... Thinking of either a 2001 XJR or a 1997 Vanden Plas.... Black & Bone of course....
  7. Rare as hitting a multi-million lottery is the amazing combination of people that came together to build, moderate, and and call this wonderful board home. If only the outside world could be the same..... and maybe it will become,.. one watch addict at a time.. Long Live Rwg2, which in truth, is number 1, much the same as we homo sapien are to our predecessors, homo erectus..We are Replica board, Evolved !
  8. Agree 100% Limited runs add a special aspect and makes it also more fun !
  9. The Instant Classic, that watch that vaults instantly to the upper level of desirability and remains there. I have been trying to pick them for years now and it's not easy,... One way to tell is by cruising the trading forum,.. If you see a watch there several times a month you can best believe that it didn't capture many hearts, kind of like a lover who you burn with passion for, but the flame dies sooner or later... not to say that we all want or need the same watches... I do find watches all the time in the trading forum that I want and don't care what has been said about them... No, I am speaking here only of those rare few that get snagged quickly, kept in collections forever, sometimes also vanishing from the factories.. Two I am keeping my eye on are the Breitling Chronomat and the new release Overseas,.. I want them now so bad I it hurts,.. Have I waited long enough ?
  10. Out of 100+ watches I have only had two which glowed all night,... An Omega Smp and a Jlc Compressor,... I have never gone for the re-lume service however,.. and also am curious to know how long it lasts ....
  11. That's what I love about this place,... you learn something important, ~every day !
  12. Plastic spacers act as shock absorbers,... so since your caseback is solid, think of it as a bonus.
  13. From what I understand,.. there were only 100 pieces made and King or Jay don't have access yet,.. and don't know if they ever will, as this was a private project of our reborn dealer...our Elvis on wheels.. our Murphy comedian,...and another dealer,...and his end was 30 peices total,..which I think, since the batch is so limited, won't sell them for group buy prices...but I could be wrong...
  14. If we speak practicality,... pure practicality, watches are for time keeping. You can only compare cars to other cars, not to watches. For example, you can purchase a $200 watch which will keep better time than a $200,000 timepiece, however try to say that about the technological degrees of automobiles. Break it on down,.. you may marvel at the functionality of the mechanical timepiece that can handle ever sophisticated increments of time, however those same functions can be handled, plus hundreds of more with ease, reliability with electricity, and at a cost that a kid could afford. So if you feel that the fact that these basic functions done mechanically is worth to you $20,000 or a 2,000,000 I say go for it, though must admit more than a bit of bewilderment. If functionality is your fascination,.. quartz is the practical path, unless you feel that you need to support the mechanical watch campaign with your hard earned dollars... Look, I love the mechanical watch,.. hate quartz, but don't see the differences in them and our top end reps, that justify the prices... and as for that 'feeling' of being able to afford one.... I can, and have but honestly get a better feeling spending my money in other areas like my kids college funds or travel, which makes me smile all the more when I look at my replica wearing wrist.. Watches are my passion,.. don't know why,. I guess it's because they mark the moments that we call Life... Variety in them is what keeps me in this game,... where else can we indulge our passions in the many styles and abilities of the watch world, at a price over the long term,.. less than one top end piece... The satisfaction levels, once the smoke and hype are steered through, is for me, good enough, for what is essentially a metal case with springs & spinning gears that when the clock stops,.. can't be taken with us to the other side. We are living in the Golden Age of Replicas… I for one, after coming out of the dark ages, am appreciative...
  15. Another great post,... I say we are the truest of watch aficionados , we pay homage to the best in styles, and in some cases, functions while protesting against pricing that places them out of the reach of the sane or super rich....
  16. Great post from a new person.... I say Welcome,.. a true Watch lover that can see beyond price hype will always appreciate this place !
  17. Thanks but [censored] retired long ago... Richard T's ultimates however are Omega, Breitling and the 3 ending in 'C' Iwc, Jlc & Vc... By the way good to have you back bro..!
  18. What a Great and Kind thing to do ! Zeno is a good brand as well ! Kudos to you TJG !!!
  19. Bravo By-Tor,... I agree with your every word ! I think it depends upon which direction you come from,... If you have owned gens before, you really don't find them all that much better than choice quality reps,.. and realize that the much higher prices are sales hype. Though I have slowed down in my purchases, my reasoning is that I have become much more selective... My list is still there, and the dream of my perfect collection, it's just that I now wait until they evolve into 'Ultimate' models before I make my move,... That is born of a patience recently developed,... as my kid free in the toy store, or first to own one, stages, lasted for quite some time for me.... way past where they should have...
  20. Ahhh,.. Finally ! The secret of this was killing me... What a relief ! Great Going Murphy... !
  21. I'm also in agreement with Nanuq, mechanicals, if well put 2gether, are much tougher than most think.. My son's and I have played rough sports, martial arts,..stick fighting, kendo, hiked, and fell in raging waters, banged them,...all reps mind you without a problem... Lastly...Believe it or not... plastic spacers act as shock obsorbers....so I was never one to complain about them..
  22. Just in time too.... his latest release is an instant Classic...
  23. Enjoyed the review ! Especially the addition of the Chronomat for size comparisons... Both amazing pieces and are both on top of my list !
  24. Ahh.. this I have tried so many times, to put together the perfect collection for me... Even though it has eluded me to this point,... like a mirage that moves back as I approach.. I still think it's possible,.. the goal for me is to find pieces that have become, or will become Classics.. Seven in all,..One for every day, and occasion... Problems are, new releases that seem so perfect when they first come out,.. then later updates turn them into has beens... either that, or some sparkle I had hoped would hold my attention turns dull to me after a while.. Last but not least,.. the problem of imperfect ones with QC slightly off,.. enough to drive me crazy which once led me to try again.. but now leaves me waiting for upgrades or dealers who build from scratch.. like Angus and now Jay....
  25. You are right about that.... Also it does make a great briefcase gadget...
