  1. Gents, I just grabbed a gen, brand new and wrapped 78390A bracelet for my 16520 project. Paid € 700 - I guess that's a fair price. Waiting for my JAW case to arrive, and then up to Domi :-)) Best, J

  8. Gents, Sorry for bringing this old thread up, but may I ask you a question: I am looking for a nice APRO since a long time, did a lot of reading, and found this babay on Josh's site: http://www.1-pc8838.com/0000ap00038-royal-jumbo-auto-ssss-white-swiss-28242-p-9303.html I assume that this is the ultimate version with the improved bezel screws. Could anybody tell me about the dial colour? Is it white or more on the silver side? What do you think about the movement decoration? (apart from the fact that an eta could never look like an ap movt) Do the newer versions all have the silver/gold decorated movements? Many thanks, J
  9. Frankens are hardly to purchase - they are between 3.000 and 5.000... Forget the daytona reps you can purchase from the dealers, they are not reliable regarding the movement. sec@6 movements are a ticking timebomb - do a research here and you will find all answers. You could purchase gen parts (dial, hands, xstal, bracelet) - this will cost you about 2.500 (Euros !), and then add a case from Phong (www.jewelryandwatch.com) for another 1.200 Euros, and if you have all the parts, you just need a watchmaker to assamble them (another x00 Euros...) I would say: If you are able to spend more then 3.000 euros and have plenty of time for searching the parts, go on and build your own. if not: RIP daytona Best, J
  10. one should kill the central seconds hand - if possible. other then that, it looks great! enjoy!
  11. you mean both of them? is there any additional info like "best" or "ultimate", or is the ex just the standard model that is available at our trusted dealers? thx, j
  12. this is exactly the same watch/question I am curreny asking myself... Gents - I have been away from the board for a couple of months, but a Hublot brought me back today :-))) Unfortunately tried the gen rose gold BB from a collegue yesterday, and can't stop thinking about it since then...what a beauty. Never thought about Hublot as I am the Rolex guy, but my collegue wore ihis BB for occasional reasons during our appointments, and at the afterwork clubbing with a pair of jeans and a shirt. A multi-purpose watch. Occasional & sporty in my opinion. I guess I have to do a lot of research to find a nice version. Also can't decide between a ceramic or a rose gold bezel. Would really love to see your fav BB RG - maybe the TS is interested as well. Could anybody say a few words about the RG plating? Does it wear off after a while? Your opinions are really appreciated! B/R, J PS: will immediately upgrade my status :-)
  13. Thanks all! Currently I am in love with the Triumph Bonneville SE, and the T100 - I read a lot of good things about them. I don't know which of the looks I like more. I will also test drive the seven fifty and the new intruder M800. Best, J
  14. Hi all, thanks for all your suggestions. I am also (of course) interested in the HD bikes, but they are somewhat expensive and exotic here in Austria. I also like the style of the 1200 sportster, and of course the Vrod, but I don´t think the vrod is a beginners bike. I also appreciate the advice regarding the 600-750 ccm - I think they are easier to ride than the "larger ones". Diavel and Triumph are very nice, but I want to live a little longer... Difficult choice... Thank you community for your all of your input! Best,J
  15. Gents, In the next two weeks I will probably receive my driving license for motorcycles. I thought with nearly 40 years it's time to start a new Hobby. I am looking for something retro, masculine, easy to drive and reliable. Some people suggested a Yamaha XVS 1100 Drag Star, others recommended a Honda Seven Fifty (CB 750 1993-2003). I am not a fan of racing bikes, super moto or enduro - it should be a retro naked bike, or a cruiser. No need for speed, just relaxed cruising. Tried both, like both! Has anyone of you experience with those bikes, or some other recommendations for me? Another thing is for sure - to finance this bike, my gn concepta Mark XVI has to go...:-( Thanks in advance, J
  16. I really like the style, and would buy a black and blue one - if there were only a replacment for the crystal...w/o the crown.. Wear it in good health! Best, J
