  3. Does anyone know the difference in Chromalite and superluminova. I know the gen DS uses Chromalite but I cant decide which to use on mine. I understand the Chromalite lasts longer but with less intensity than the Superluminova, is that correct? Are there any other differences that someone might know Thanks in advance
  4. I have been using the new version bracelet on my 250 and swapping with the older style. I have to say the new one just doesnt do it for me. The main reasons I think are the CG accents on the older styles link seem to give the watch character and blend well with the overall style and look of the watch. It also seems to give the watch a much better look in terms of quality and although the thickness is comparable to both, the older style seems to have much more wrist presence and a bigger feel to it. and the lug links seem weaker in looks too... Any one got opinions on their preference and why?
  5. So its more to do with value rather than the idea of rep stuff..... Thats not unusual, it could be the way the sender wrote on the declaration which caught there eye. It wont be a problem mate, dont let them push you about on it they have no right to with hold it if its value is below the customs tax threshold and if its above you just need to pay the excise. Iam sure it will al be fine though just a pain in the [censored] Just remember in future for a few months after or longer use a different address if your orderin watches as you might be put on the customs watching list!!!
  6. Mate if you get one head on shot and back. You will get a definitive answer here I have only heard of the numbers already mentioned but I have heard of a scam one where the S/N was doctored using a restamp. Be just your luck if your mate is being offered the gen S/Ns used by reps !!!!!!
  7. Starting to wear this too much now ......
  8. Yes but in this case you dont use your tongue !!!
  9. I do know that despite German efficiency their Post system can be very erratic!! I have had stuff I sent get there in 3 or 4 days and in other cases it takes 2 weeks all by same method. And the tracking system is never right, on one occasion it said package was being returned to sender 2 days later its arrived at destination!!! Dont worry mate I am sure it will be fine
  10. I take it, it was standard airmail no tracking? Does the guy have proof of posting though? He didnt send by sea did he? that can take months!! It does seem a long time but it happens..... always assuming it was posted when said etc but if you know the guy I am sure its all right. I had something similar on RG with a so-called good guy and a gen Ti crown but the guy turned out to be a total [censored]. I digress!! I think you should be fine mate Fingers crossed Hope things are better for you now
  11. If you go to RG or WC Houndoggie does a How to on refinishing and flattening. Just dont do the whole CG when your removing the ding, Only start on the face side in line with the edge of the CG rectangular opening otherwise you will rub of the REG TM. HDs isnt a bad method and will help though you can use a variation if it feels better, practice your strokes on the back side of CG first just so you get a feel for it If you want more advice just PM me mate, I will help if I can
  12. You wont get a better one than what you have found mate. The movement needs to run secs from 3 this adaption of the movement by the rep makers means the running wheels have to sit over the DW hence why its sunken. With the pams the secs on the chrono run at nine so you can lift the DW by removing these same running wheels because it only runs the minute subdial of the chrono. (of course the minute hand of the chrono wont work but DW can be lifted) Thats why you cant find one or do the mod. I am sure an expert can explain it better than me.
  13. I must say as a casual Rolex liker I really do like those watches, no idea what they are but they look very good mate and those are some great pics. Always been tempted to buy my wife a ladies Rolex just like that one but I know nothing about them to make an informed purchase. Thanks for sharing Are the chrono Rollies ARd ?
  14. Domi only gets it from FineDD so thats why it might be worth asking DD direct as he has a seperate section for his services Generally though when domi gets it done it yellow on sapphire and blue on mineral
  15. No probs mate No thats just the way the light is catching it !!! ;)
  16. Ooooo I could kiss you !!!! Thanks mate
  17. Yeah I had one with a dodgy bracelet clasp too ;)
  18. PM sent mate
  19. Does anybody know any good links to set out the principles of the Eco-Drive movement and possibly a break down of it? I have an old one I want to try and get going again Thanks in advance

  21. Honestly I would try contacting a dealer to get an ultimate crystal But going for AR which Taka AR did you chose as he can do a faint blue, I know because I have one. I think Rex can give you the Ling AR look or certainly his AR use to. But if you contact FineDD direct he might be able to give you the look your after. Have you asked TB? I think he can arrange it but not sure who he uses. Or buy used and swap
  22. I agree mate on 99%....but what stood out to me in respect of the article was the analogy of the PP to watches as Bordeaux with wine!!! I am surprised she chose Bordeaux given the other choices to represent exclusivity, quality, history etc etc The 1% I dont agree on is the watch looking gorgeous though; appreciated but not gorgeous... but thats what makes us human :)
  23. i got into these a few months ago and started researching the 01-92 on the gen forums then relating the gens back to the reps on the rep forums and dealer sites. The first thing I decided to avoid was the 01-94 mainly because the sunken DW and because the secs are at three the mod I would normally do couldnt be done. So I then concentrated on the 01-92, I looked at PVD but this is hit and miss. In terms of durability and finish to gen PVD. So I dismissed that, though I have bought one with aftermarket PVD. I then started looking at the SS 01-92s there are 3 options in terms of movement and gen ness. the 4813, 2892/4 and 2836. The latter is a smoother sweep at 25J unlike the 21J of the 2892. The 4813 can be noisy and judderey. I looked and studied the gen sweep and knowing the 2836 sweep I decided on that, it is without doubt the closest, (though if you go 94 the subdial sweep is more jerky on the gen so the 2894 would work OK from a visual point of view) it turns out only one factory makes the 01-92 with 2836 this same factory only does the 1:1 case with real hex screws in the CB and the correct 1.3mm hex lug bars the other reps are not correctly sized. Then I looked at dials of course the biggest issue with a black dial is it highlights the blue AR on the rep crystal which is very un genlike also the lume is not as good as gen in terms of colour though strength wise it can be.(B&R lume is very poor from a QC POV) If I could of got Chiefs AR and a relume I would of gone with one of these as it would be very obvious unless you didnt. So this left the white dial 2836-2 which I bought, I removed the outside AR which means I have a gen look AR without blue. The lume is very good and correct colour to gen, its only small marker lume and hands. I then rebrushed the case as the finish looks nothing like the gen, its more obvious when you see the gens in your hand. I polished the edges and other areas and gave a brush sheen to all other places. I then resanded the screws on the face and polished them as much as I could with a dremel and rouge. These screws are highly polished on the gen but rouge isnt great at getting a high polish on SS you really need D9000 as its more for the harder metals the rouge is really for soft metals. I ended up with what I think is the closest I can get to gen without going franken. IMHO. I am thinking of painting the frame of the hands as these are matt but the gen has a slight sheen close up and in strong sunlight. But next to each other they are indistinguishable unless your really anal I also fitted gen lug bars so I am not worried so much about threading as the reps do!!! Generally the font is slightly off (negligible) and the curve on the second hand is not the same size as gen again its very hard to spot without having the 2 side by side. Also the crown can not close properly on some so mae your QC pics show ful closure. So in conclusion IMHO If your prepared to recoat PVD and lume and AR go PVD with dark dial of your choice and 2836-2.Though PVD might not be necessary if you wear it in rotation and not in a knock about way. If you want minimal mods go SS 2836-2 with white dial then just need to do simple mods I mentioned. That in my HO gives you the closest to gen
