I was never much of an AP guy but I wanted a cool watch to workout and time my running with, so I threw a quartz EOD on a luca strap... The strap is worth more than the watch. I'll warm up to a sec@12 version one of these days as I seem to wear this a lot lately

My 2c as a relative noob to this hobby... I'm a member of all the rep forums and this one has taught me the most. This place is like an archive of information. I didn't even really know how a watch worked a few months ago and I had a couple gens then. Now I have more reps than gens and I'm modding and servicing them myself thanks to the info here. The other forums have good stuff too, but i mainly go to them for sales forums to see what's on the market. Quality vs. quantity...

I've had the ice for a while and just never liked the way it was slightly off black... and there has been a 'macro' blemish on the dial that has [censored] me off from day 1. I've also loved the black magic with the red ticks on the outer edge of the bezel and the white borders on the chrono-dials, but hated the chrome/white hands. Problem solved; take the numbers off the ice dial and install them on a black magic dial (thanks to scotty) and use the ice hands. Add a TX crystal + the 2geek wheel and movement mods from my last attempt and I now have my perfect Hublot I'll take better pics later. Thanks again to 'jmb's hand presser for getting those numbers on. Anyhoo, It's l8 and i'm gonna have a beer and go to sleep...

New OEM like replacement crystal for HBBs

TX's crystal is perfect from his pics (i have one on the way). I've handled lots of gens recently and the main thing that you notice even before datewheel fonts is the crystal. Gen's have the beveled edge that catches the light and it is very noticeable from a distance. Even a 2geek crystal that is not much taller than rep looks better because it has a beveled edge. There is variation among gens as to the height/thickness of the crystals, but not by much and they are all taller than rep, and all taller than the 2geek. The gen crystals are probably all the same, some are just set a bit deeper than others or perhaps bezel spacers are a tiny bit different in proportion... I was getting curious looks at the AD when I was analyzing every aspect of these watches and asking to see so many and I wasn't even trying any of them on. There are lots of macro variation between gens; depth of screws, dial imperfections, AR tone, etc. But this is all stuff that no ordinary person would ever notice. Bottom line is pop in the TX crystal and a 2geek datewheel and you're done. All you guys that have them installed post some pics -
I'm actually thinking of putting your crystal into another HBB cuz I already have the other parts to mod one. Just trying to decide which one to pull the trigger on, black magic or all-black. hmmm...

This is the best i can do for now cuz i can't find my camera, which is a typical problem for me along with my keys and wallet. Anyhoo, the 2nd numeral is larger, you can see it in the pic where i lay down the tricompax gears as well.

Mine arrived yesterday and i installed it this morning. It took about 3 weeks to arrive, so that's normal. My 177 had one already and the fact that my 111 didn't was driving me insane, and now they both look good edt: Just a heads up to opcrown, the stem of the crown was poking out of the side of the envelope! It looks like the letter went through a sorting machine. There was no damage to the crown. Perhaps it'd be best to cover the crown in some cardboard in the envelope...

I have the V2 as well. It's great!

This crystal sits about 1/2 of a mm higher, so not that much, but it does have a beveled top edge so it 'appears' to be higher and the edge catches light more like the gen. I think the TX crystal would be the best, but i'm on the backup-list for that so i figured i'd try this one out in the meantime. the AR is amazing!

This was definitely a bit out of my league, it has taken the better part of my day and it has been very frustrating, but it's done save for a bit of cleaning. Ice Bang with 2geeks date wheel, 2geeks crystal, ETA rotor, faux-regulator, Black brushed ceramic bezel, and a textured rubber strap because I like it better And a big thanks to ' jmb ' for the hookup with the hand-pressing tools. They are amazing!

I think this gen ROO is having some bezel problems too!
mt666tm replied to sander's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
hmm... interesting to see how thick the rubber is on the gen's. Good find -
Nice! mine arrived yesterday too with the 2geeks crystal. Apparently it's a bit taller that the stock rep crystal, i hope so, either way it's a win with that amazing AR. My rotor bearing and fine reg adj from Cousins came too. Now just waiting on the ceramic bezel and we'll have the perfect black-ice! Post up some pics when you install those. I'll try to get at mine in the next week or so when I have the time

If you had to narrow it down to to put into a 4 watch traveler:
mt666tm replied to Panther917's topic in General Discussion
1. Hublot BB (ice or all-black) 2. Jaeger LeCoultre skeleton reverso 3. Rolex Submariner 4. Tag Cal 17 (quartz rep) 5... Patek Philippe Aquanaut -
Damn.. I was just PM'ing him a while ago and I never heard back. I hope you get well soon!

LOL, i always seem to spell it wrong... i don't know why. I type faster than I think and +1 on the gen's being ford. I still <3 em

Reps are just fun... but so are Gens. Why should we be deprived of the enjoyment that these watches can bring cuz we don't have a trunk full of $ to spend on them? I never try to pass reps off as gens, and if people think I'd really buy so many gens while I still have a mortgage to pay then they are straight up stupid! For me the #1 reason to get a rep is to test-drive. I have a few gens, and before each one I had the rep. I know that there will be more Gens added to my collection, but why take the chance of it not fitting my lifestyle? I buy and sell reps all the time with no worries and no real drain on my wallet, and me and my brother trade reps all the time. That is what we get eachother for every X-mas too, a rep that we'd never really consider as a gen just for the fun of it. I just got him a Nautilus as he always thought it was an old-man watch and he loves it! When I wear my gens I have great sentimental value of all the times I had the same watch as a rep, and it makes me want to try out more reps until I find one that really speaks to me enough for me to get the gen... so far the Aquanaut rep is singing like a Canary If someone out there made a decent Austin Martin Vanquish rep i'd get that too

Does anyone have a replacement glass for an AP ROO (typical 7750 case)? Somehow i bonked it on the bezel the other night and cracked it, but no damage to the bezel, it seems to be cracked internally and is hard to see but i wanna replace it if i can get the part. I don't care if it's AR'd or not. And if it's used that's fine too, as long as it's in good shape Let me know if you do. Thanks.

i like it in titanium. looks good. Quartz?... hmmm...
-
I guess i'll just sit back and wait then. No reason they couldn't make this with a reliable movement too as there is no chrono to worry about. I hope they make the inner rotating bezel functional!
