  1. RIP This is the first celebrity that I am actually sad has passed away. Respect!
  2. If you do a direct ss case copy then that gap in the crown guard on the top of the chrono pushers will be a glaring tell + the case would be really brittle and could chip the corners of that area when drilling the pusher holes Maybe you can copy the ss case and thicken the crown guards a bit on top to allow the pushers to 'appear' to be lower
  3. Up close it looks like it was machined from a block of hardened short-strand fiberglass bondo... which is very doable for a rep if you get the color of the fiber and use clear resin. Nice caseback screws
  4. Great comparison... Thanks!!! The other thing to notice on the Rep vs. Gen is the finishing on the bevel of the crystal. It's par for the course because I have one Gen is nice and smooth all the way around and Rep is a little edgier and uneven... Your pics show this. The strap: Rep straps have the upper 4 stitches look like they are not tight. Gen straps have tight stitches all the way. It's only really noticeable at some angles. Your pics show this too. PS: both watches are PVD'd. PVD refers to a process rather than a coating. The gen is probably PVD'd with DLC, while the rep is PVD'd with something else.
  5. It'll be released right after the HBB AB-2 ... so don't hold your breath
  6. Guys... have some fun with the scammers. BID!!! I have bid in the 20,000 range for some of the fakes and won, and when I get the notice to pay I say F U !!! They can't go to e-bay and make you pay for a scam, so you have nothing to worry about and all you do is report to ebay that you know it is a scam and refuse to pay if they contact you, which they have only once to me. It's theeasiest way to shut these guys down. Just win the auctions and don't pay
  7. Careful when ordering one of these. There are reps out there with white text on the dials and that's a no no... make sure you get the dark grey text, if you can. You'll see what I mean here, gen vs rep review: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=102044
  8. The gens have a low datewheel like the reps, so it could have been real... you gotta look at other things; depth of the chrono-subdials is a easy tell. Reps are shallower than gen for the most part date wheel font (unless a 2geek is installed) color of numbers/hands (rep ice bang are a bit lighter) If you get to handle it then look to see if it has a Ti caseback and if the movement is swiss etc...
  9. amazing... thanks for the pics!!!
  10. You will never learn unless you try, so just troll in the sales forums for used/broken movements. I have already thrashed my way through 2 A7750's. The 1st one my hands were shaking so annoyingly i made a real mess of it, 2nd one had broken parts so no point reassembling. Got my 3rd now waiting for a rainy afternoon and hopefully this one I can get beck together and working... but i'm not gonna hold my breath. My favorite is hearing the 'ting' and wondering what corner of the universe that tiny little part just flew into
  11. if you're gonna go nuts then get the C1 Quantum Gravity!
  12. very nice! as for the difference between the kyocera and rep ceramic bezel, the kyocera has slightly sharper points on the cross-hatching. It's hard to see with naked eye. That and about $500 price difference
  13. I need to get my hands on two blue rubber straps for two different UN's One is needed for replacement on a Gen Maxi Marine Diver Chronograph like pic #1. Replacement gen-rubber is around 500 bucks so I'd like to try rep-rubber 1st. This strap has only 1 metal link, and the clasp and metal-link is not needed as I have the gen parts, but if it's part of the deal I'll take it anyways... The other is for a rep Blue Surf like pic #2 that has a metal bracelet that I want the option to switch to rubber. This strap has two metal links, and I do need a clasp and both metal-links for this one. Before I start dropping e-mails to all the usual suspects I thought I'd ask if anyone knows for sure who would be able to help me out with UN parts. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  14. bump... very excited to drop one of these in a new V5 all-black 2. Oh boy!
  15. I have the exact same watch... it really is a great value considering what the regular HBB's are priced at. Enjoy!!!
  16. Bank safety deposit box for big ticket items that you don't need immediate access too... a hidden safe in the house for everything else
  17. He just finished modding a rotor for me, i can't wait to get it... Patience...
  18. Selling for 20g's less than the original and still up there... WTF is up with the white datewheel window ? http://www.chrono24.com/en/search/index.htm?showid=1593242&dosearch=1&searchexplain=1&SEARCH_ADTYPE_ID=U&SEARCH_BRAND_ID=18&MODEL=end%20of%20days&SORTORDER=1&numresults=5
  19. Great read.... thanks! For what it's worth the ETA movements coming out of China are absolutly fake... I have placed a few orders for multiple Cartier's for friends and so on (spread out over multiple orders to get through customs) and i ordered one with the gen-swiss movement and the rest with the Chinese movements. ALL the watches arrived with the movements bearing the ETA stamp. I find it hard to believe that the dealer just decided to upgrade every watch to a gen swiss movement, or that it was a mistake in my favor. To top it off, the one that was 'gen-swiss' failed after less than a day and was returned for a replacement. The others are still going strong as far as I know. I don't think this ETA freeze will be a problem. Sellita will be a great alternative, and it will force capable brands to manufacture in-house movements. I personally will never buy a gen that uses a generic movement anyways, for those we have these amazing reps
