Hublot Classic Frankenstein Project Complete

Interesting... I like the blue dial, I wouldn't change it, looks good with the two tone. -
There was a thread in Puretime section on RG where he was putting the moves on the factory to get these repped, and outlook is good for 'The One', and if that goes well we may see spidolite / spidospeed. Fingers are crossed!

A tip for fixing the chrono on your Zenith; you can change the point to where a quartz chrono resets if it is not resetting to 12... pull out the crown to the position to set the time and press the top chrono button once... the chrono will move 1 second. Now press it as many times as you need to get it to 12 oclock. Then push the crown back in and try it. It should start/stop/reset to 12- 5 replies

was the seconds hand smooth or choppy?? im still on the fence about this one. If tbey did a black ceramic case or repped the carbon well i might get it, as the black would tone it down a bit. I like your safari more -
Couldn't you tell by the weight? Pics!!

Very nice work! Now lets see a pic of it on a nice hornback strap.

Watch Eden is good... I always go to them when friends want good quartz pieces. They've always delivered. The Hublot Manchester Red Devil quartz is a good one!- 5 replies

Indistinguishable as far as I can tell. Now don't get tempted to put your rep strap back in that bag for ebay

No weak points other than lume from what I've seen... I missed out on batch 1 and am eagerly awaiting batch 2

The new dial looks perfect. I have an older Safari (I am wearing it now) and the chrono works perfectly, so no need to worry. Just have it serviced if needed. In fact it's the smoothest A7750 I've ever had. I am seriously considering to get this new one though; Silver number surround, softer dial pattern, better color tones, cream datewheel... The only thing left is to get the correct texture and recess on the subdials. If I were you I would get this, and get it on the rubber strap, then buy an AP Bands or HK Tan hornback strap to make it perfect... then at least you have an extra rubber strap instead of nothing as you will have to throw the rep hornback in the trash where it belongs Look at the QC pic examples, very nice improvements!

I always take off the rotor and put a drop of mobius on the bearing on an A21J If it's an A-7750 and you can replace the rotor bearing with a Swiss ETA bearing. Some rotors with saw-tooth bearing you may have to have them machined a bit to accept the ETA bearing. It will be silent after you do this. If the watch is a keeper and has a display caseback it's a must!

I've always loved the grey dial nautilus on composite (waterproof) grey strap, so when something is called 1:1 you would think a strap change would be straight forward. This was not the case. First problem was that one of the strap pin lock screws was stripped so I had to drill it out. Then I ran into the real problem. The strap lug that fits into the strap is too big on the rep. It has to be shaved down all around in order for the gen strap insert to slip on. After everything was shaved and fitted the pins slide in and lock screws were reinstalled (one properly and one is a head glued in place, both look perfect). There was also a big speck of dust on the dial so the whole watch was opened up to blow it out, along with refinishing screwheads and repressing the stem tube which was sticking out a bit, bad QC I guess... So for those wanting to install gen Patek straps, now you know what you may be in for; Compare with a gen picture pulled from online: GEN:
