  1. I also noticed I forgot to round off the chrono pushers. That mod is done now as well
  2. ^ Correction. I just did it again tonight and used a few different grits. 320 worked perfectly. I didn't even take out the pushers, just put masking tape around them incase i slippedl and ran the paper over the edges for a few min and they rounded off very well.
  3. Nope... Gen AP strap. That's why I had to do my best to save it. I see a fingerprint on one of those pics now, damn it, lol...
  4. I've wanted a Safari for years but never pulled the trigger until I saw this in the sales forums (on another forum) and I couldn't say no. It came on a beat up gen strap that I was on the verge of replacing, but after testing out a few methods of repairing it I found one that work so thought I'd share the results. 1st off the watch itself needed a little TLC, so I took most of it apart for greasing up gaskets, repolishing all the bezel screw heads and lowering them a touch, hand brushing out some of the scratches on the bezel and case, etc... I actually found one of the bezel screw tips to be bent and the threads damaged on the caseback nut, so a little straightening and blue loctite solved that problem. Now onto the strap, someone must have swapped out the strap links to rep some time ago, and I think they used a hammer and chisel to do so... the macro pics of the damage to the lug ends and sides of the strap would gag a maggot! After taking this all apart, refinishing the inserts, reassembling and rebrushing the links, it was looking acceptable. Now to fix the edge of the strap I found out that you can mix a very small amount of Testors model enamel into shoe goo (to color the rubber to how you want it). This was a last ditch idea as others before it failed. After this I did a little leather reconditioning and cleaned the stitches. I think it turned out well.
  5. I have a bin of paper I use when I build bikes so I don't remember, but it would have most likely been 600, i think.
  6. Removing the white layer = very interesting. Are my hands steady enough... hmmm... Thanks for the pics!
  7. Nice, I have the black sea UN on my wrist right now!
  8. I'll get some pics of the Breitling next time I'm over at his place, which might be tonight. It's a gen and he got it with the utc bracelet. There are a couple gens in the mix here
  9. We had some friends over at my brothers place and I was asked to bring a couple of my watches over to show them, so I grabbed a few of my current fav's (one in each pocket of my jacket and on each wrist)... we also got my bro's watch box out with some of his collection, in total we had 21 on the table. He piled them up and took a pic so i figured i'd share it. Good way to spend a hungover Sunday morning
  10. More like in the Caribbean Sea to be exact. I took a UN on vacation with me to see how it would stand up to some swimming. I greased the caseback gasket and crown, nothing else. I wore it in the water all week, deepest I went was only 15 feet or so. I'd even drop the watch down onto the sand and dive to pick it up. Watch held up perfectly! Ahh, good times
  11. I'm on the fence about this one. I really want it on the grey leather, but a few things are holding me back... Post pics when you all get yours and maybe I'll see if Tony can hook one up for me too.
  12. I have the PP Aquanaut with SW200 for well over a year now and i hand wind it all the time. When fully wound and you overwind the mainspring clutch engages. All teeth are good on the visible gears, so is this problem rare... or did I just get a good one... ?
  13. I have this same rep, it's great but be careful around water. I greased and sealed mine up expecting it to be tight and when I tested it under a little pressure some water got in around the edges of the crystal. Glad I did it without the movement in the case. So even though they can rep the shape of the crystal they can't seem to seal it up 100%... OK to shower, but don't go in the pool
  14. Very nice! I was upset that I missed that sale... If you ever consider letting this one go shoot me a PM \ The gen of this is beautiful, I saw it about a year ago when I was in Vegas.
  15. you can easily do the mod without a dremel. Just remove the pushers and lay a piece of fine sandpaper down and take the pusher in your fingers and lightly take it over the paper to sand down the edge and round it off. Go slow and light and you wont mess it up I didn't want to use a dremel cuz it's easy to slip and hit the case or shave off too much rubber
  16. very nice. that strap really works well too!
  17. Beautiful watch, really amazing! This was funny because I went straight to the pics... and I was ABOUT to ask 'where did you get this amazing rep, it has the silver around the numbers, smaller diameter hour hand at the stem, better rehaut... oh... wait... its's a gen! LOL!
  18. Luca makes the EOD strap. Worth every penny! Not sure if he still makes them. Contact him to find out. I sent you his email, check your PM's, i don't wanna post it public incase he doesn't want it that way.
