Is this watch a custom build by a member of a forum - if so you can end up with anything ? You can easily combine solid mid link 93250 links with hollow end links and a different clasp. I have a 93250 clasp on my 93150 links ad 580 end links on my 1665 - why? Because from the outside the rep 93250 clasp is the closest to gen modern 93150 clasp that I have ever seen. yep - the 71N end link is for the 7205 rivet bracelet and is 19mm size.

Rolex Tudor 94110, Snowflake Submariner, 9,3 Mill Series
Mapman57 replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
Thanks for clarifying that - as always gen silver date wheels are always lighter than rep equivalents - from some angles it can look white. -
This latter option seems to make a lot of sense to me? Why not start with the clone in the case - the saving over the Ofrei movement will buy you a great dial and more? Off piste a little, but this makes me think it would make more sense to use a Clark 125 on the eta built 1680s - it might align the cyclop better? But the date wheel might still be a little to the left in the dial window?

Rolex Tudor 94110, Snowflake Submariner, 9,3 Mill Series
Mapman57 replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
Ive been researching the Tudor Sub range for some time and there are so many variants and refurbed units out there. It appears they got a little less care and attention than their Rolex sisters! This one has got the silver datewheel (supposedly rarer from what I read on the Gen forums?) and the earlier triplock Rolex crown - would this be a 702? It is certainly thinner in section that the modern 703/704 variant. -
That's a good point on the case. Certainly the latter snowflakes in the 9xxx model series were based on the 1680 Submariner date, with a top hat style cyclope plexi - and a 127 will fit a 9411/0, even though a 125 is the correct plexi. The caseback was different, probably to accommodate the Rolex calibre movement?
-
Very nice example - just bought a 94110 ........otherwise ...... $39 for a new insert and $84 for new end links - if only!

I still have not got over missing out on the infamous 'SD project'. At that time I was dealing direct with George and not active on the forums. I had a $375 early pre order directly in with him..............Sorry B - did not even know of you in those days! He/they was always a delight to work with and I was shocked at the time of the melt down and the aftermath. In a strange way, that led me into the forum world!!! It was worth every dime invested guys Perhaps your supposition about George/son of Ku is correct B; and this is truly what happened and explains a lot. Anyhow, obviously a very sad loss to you and many other associates of 'George'.

Rolex Tudor 94110, Snowflake Submariner, 9,3 Mill Series

Hi J - good to hear that the movement is holding up! I see that you are now more active across the Boards than back then I saw your Tudor on the Rolex forums - very nice and it inspired me to pick this one up (as well as Woofs Flake thread ) This is indeed a 936xxx serial number piece from 1979 - I guess yours is 1979, or 1980 as well? This was last overhauled in 2008 by installation of a SL pearl, a new PJ date code 93150 bracelet/clasp/585 bracelet and new plexi. Most of the original folded Tudor bracelets and 380 end links have fallen to bits by now, thats why so many of these are seen on Natos. That's one of the things that attracted me to this, as I might put it on a Nato or two for Summer (if ever!!!) and flip the bracelet onto my Franken 1665 GWSD ? -
Not sure I would agree with that, in that........? It all depends on the watch you are buying for - tell us the model and you will be informed of the right size. For example - GMT and Subs can be sapphire, or Plexi crystal models and each have different sizes of bezel and insert.

Just landed on the scene - interesting piece and specification..........
-
Probably still the best rep white dial out there is DSN's version one base dial for a 010D or 114 build. Not perfect but near as damn it. They are no longer available and as rare as 'rocking horse s***' on the sales forums.

372 is Gen and the 390 is not? But then again, that could be a custom built 372.........? What a lovely pair of pieces and gold hands you have..............

My New Baby - The 1665 GWSD - liking it a lot!

Interesting - thanks Nan - never heard of that one before. I have a Phong service T29 and a Clark Superdome, but I kind of like this? Maybe the Phong flat service T 39 will be a better option, but the clarity on this is superb. -
Rolex 16570 Exp II - BK Noob Exp II Back From The Spa......
Mapman57 replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
Noob M serial case from original BK Noob Exp II Swiss based eta movement - ICHS Noob dial and hands Rehaut shaved to remove engraving (by BK) CG's modded BK tube installed Gen Rolex crown installed Krysworks crystal 295/C-2 and gasket installed and finally Gen 16570 Bezel installed with O ring ............ -
Tricky one Not seen one with no inscription at the bottom on the dial - but maybe others have? Print looks odd as well? The gen Beyeler dial from this period would have the B logo and 375 inscription on the back - do you see the B - looks a little like a Breitling logo? Here is my transitional 16750 from mid 1980's (with date on dial).......you can see the B clearly

OK - it is a modern, thin font 5513/1665 variant - very small serifs, but not seen in these pictures -

Mapman57 replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
Its the original Noob factory dial - still the best available (other than Gen of course!) This picture was taken before the latest upgrade - the Crystal is a Krysworks 295/c-2 with no LEC. -

Many thanks Woof - that's interesting. I have a Phong flat T39 plexi that is supposedly built to Gen spec and has the same profile as yours. I honestly do not know what this is so am as interested as anyone to establish what it is. The pics are not great, but it has fantastic clarity and is certainly 'different' in appearance to anything I have handled as a Rep or aftermarket part. YOu can tell in some pics that the plexi almost is invisible, like it has AR But of course that is silly. I researched the subject and found reference to a GS Supplies(?), aftermarket T39 medium dome that seems to be a possibility? Anyhow, I like the look and the clarity a lot more than the Phong flat T39, or Clark T39 Superdome that I tried. -

Mapman57 replied to Mapman57's topic in The Rolex Area
Its a T39 service dome plexi (fantastic clarity in real life - pics are distorting the angles/size a little due to macro lens?) and a modded MBK DRSD 5.7 million series case set and a whole lot more.......... Any guesses on the crown, insert and pearl? -
Congratulations on 'having a go'.........I remember the first time also. It appears that you have taken quite a 'literal' approach to one, or two reknown ageing/modding techniques. The coin in the bag treatment is/was intended for the external surfaces of the watch only I suspect your drill bit was indeed a 2mm bit? But again, great start and looking forward to seeing what you do with your new 'polishing bits' when they arrive we all start somewhere
-
My new baby...............man, I just love this!
-
Looks great, considering the same move on my GWSD build in progress. However, some transitional GWSDs were fitted with DRSD caseback, so I guess if you replicate the transitional piece you can leave as is.
