I guess everybody loves 'good news' threads! Why do I like RWG - just read this thread, the answers are all here! Great gesture Admin and keep up the posts 'tech' - brilliant! -
It certainly does look better, as it is OEM spec for the 1970s onwards. A good way to see if it is gen is to see if it is a wrapped construction - look at the top inside edge of the knurled section as you look into the crown - not sure if that makes sense? Not seen a 'wrapped' rep tall coronet 703 yet? Often on old OEMs that have been taken off at service, the external wrapping can be gouged, or split. I have 3 pieces in the box now and two are like this - nice and authentic and aged looking though.

first rep should be a PAM...but which? - help me decide!

Yes they were reworked by BK................I also think the Gen crown shape sets them off nicely as well -
Welcome on board - great pick up Its crazy that I wear my Gen Flake for most jobs around the house and yard - when I have modded reps in the drawer, at below 20% of the value. They are just made to be worn and aged! Nice patina.

Thanks - yes it is. -
Perhaps the idea is for the builder to 'finish the case ' to his own liking, or specification - as we all know, very few cases and CG's are the same after 30-45 years anyhow? There is no such thing as 'THE CG set' or finish Just a thought - I guess it depends on how accurate the case is dimensionally and its fitness for purpose with gen parts etc. Certainly pricey....................

I will let the pictures do the talking - this is not a safe queen it is/was a daily business watch for some time. She had to go away for some finishing touches and movement work. I have not polished, or cleaned her up afterwards, or for the quick and dirty photo shoot here - and there are many to follow, hope you enjoy them. Early Noob Exp II originally sourced through BK Krysworks aftermarket OEM crystal Gen crown and tube CG's reworked to match Gen OEM bezel just returned from a movement overhaul ......and a further new calendar wheel and BK overlay was installed Best Noob bracelet and clasp End links reprofiled to match Gen On the bench under inspection.... With a touch of feline grace ........... And of a different kind of feline grace................... Oops what is that all over the desktop.................... Well what did you expect............. Not a lot of people know this ............ And finally a few glamour shots....NO not that kind

I know what you mean. The 243 is based on the 1950's case set, which is also a consideration, as this 199 uses a basic Luminor case set. OOB the 243 is a better replication and also much better bang for buck - as no mods are really needed. The Swiss ETA upgrade is not necessary, but I just fancied trying one!

Just picked this Vac PAM 199 Ultimate up and thought I would share a few quick BB shots from today. I have been wanting a PAM Sub for the whole Summer. The Noob V2 243 was top of my list but always seemed to be unavailable when I was ready to buy it I then thought I would go for something special and different. My problem is that I just love the old custom built pieces so much, so this seemed a natural candidate to join my Custom 010D, 005K and Pre A 02, which are all unique in their own way I am very pleased with the watch - build spec is as follows; Ultimate 199 from Angus - sent to Vac Relume in 3 shades to match the Gen - slight green to 12, 6 and pearl + nice creamy Trit to indices and whiter shade of Trit to hands Install Swiss ETA 7750, polish and set CP - the rotor noise (or lack of!) and winding action is so sweet and different to the A7750 - smooth as you like Install upgraded T crown, L DWO and tighten CG lever (I believe it is the original Ultimate CG?) Grease and seal to 5ATM On a Di Stefano Simona Bruno mustard and Pig buckle from H 18 I need to shave and adjust the CG lever to sit inside the CG.... Some wristies.... Need to get some better fitting lug pin bars.....(any suggestions?) Nice Pig Sub brushed buckle from h18................ And a few on a Gef black combination... Caseback is also great... That CG lever is driving me nuts already - but it can be fixed and improved

Had to come back for more ................. Both truly remarkable, I am intrigued how the case of the 'Red' appears to be so much softer and rounded that the other, in the lug area? Great stuff
-
Beyond words, rivetting stuff! Congratulations - again :

Here is my Snowy on a few different 'looks'..............
-
I believe mine is an older case, as it dates back to 2009 or earlier. I will check the case serial when I get a chance. My only knowledge of real differences was linked to the serial numbers that showed up differently year on year. Otherwise they seem the same? A friend of mine has just built a DRSD with Gen 1570 based on a newly sourced MBK DRSD from Reg. I am sure this will be featured in a review quite soon as it is in the final stages of completion.

Wow Panerai153 - I love your homages......................I will be checking out those MKii's especially.
