  1. Omega moonwatch PT Yes, pretty much my daily beater!
  2. Your best bet is to email him: watchcentre@gmail.com Cheers, JG
  3. Hi to all my Brighton compatriots! Just escaped from Warrington after being trapped up north for 2 days due to the wind. Glad to be back down south!!
  4. I hope we can start early'ish... I have to get home to Brighton so in the same boat! I assume most people who plan to attend work/live fairly central so perhaps we can start 6.30/7.00'ish??? and yes, where is Gun City??!
  5. Someone please delete this post - series 6 does not start in the UK until next weekend!!!
  6. EDIT: See post #23 for details Hi all Apologies again for the delay. Please vote for your choice on this post and I'll go with the majority. Polls close next Tuesday. Assume a West End venue to be as central as possible to make it easy enough for everyone who chooses to come along. Look forward to seeing your choices! James Edit: please add to this post when you've voted so we know who's in and to save me from having to keep bumping!
  7. @ Neil Which bank do you use in the UK? I bank with NatWest and if you use the same then instant (rather than 3-5 day) transfers are possible. Cheers James p.s. Great start for Walter and Ally!!
  8. Hi all Sorry for being rather slack on the coordination of this GTG. Was very busy over the festive period and been way for the past week in France on my annual ski trip. Later this evening I'll set up a quick poll with 3 suggested dates to choose from. There's no way we can accomodate everyone so will have to go with the majority decision. James
  9. Wow you guys are lucky! In Europe we've had a crap start to the season. I'm off skiing to Val D'Isere in France on Saturday and the Alps only really had their first dump of snow on New Years day. Probably only a couple of inches down in the resort at 1800m but thankfully a couple of feet up at 2500m. Hopefully a bit more snow is due tomorrow and Friday. I've heard Whistler's had some of the best snow around so far this winter. It's almost impossible to buy holidays there at the moment as most European skiers seem to be dropping the Alps in favour of the US and Canada.
  10. I hope so... he's round here fixing my central heating
  11. Looks like a Jan date may be stretched to Feb... How about a Thursday evening - 15th Feb?? Happy New Year to all. James EDIT: Just realised that's the day after Valentines which for many will probably be quite inconvenient! How about the week before - 8th Feb?
  12. New dial being released either this weekend or early next week...
  13. *bump* any more for any more?
  14. Evening all... Being inspired by the Aussies beating us to it again thought I'd ask if there's any UK members ready for a London GTG? Suggesting we go for a week night sometime in late January to let the Xmas impact on the bank account subside a little, let the Xmas watch purchases settle in and then enjoy some fine watches and fine dining? The Gaucho Grill in Piccadilly has recently been refurbished - this place serves the best steaks I've ever tried! Let this post know who's in and I'll be happy to coordinate things. Would be great to get a local dealer involved... PT are you in?! All the best for the festive season. JG
  15. Great post Cortopar Just tried on my nymphomariner - works a charm! Thanks! JG

... and your milk of kindness is indeed much appreciated! ;-)
  18. Here's mine.... excuse the messy background, too much stuff in my flat and I can't be bothered to clear up! Light tent arrives tomorrow so I can start taking some proper watch pics with my new SLR
  19. Hi Lonnie and welcome... First tip is read, read, read and then read more. Then search if you can't find what you're looking for and as last resort ask a question in the forums. Best place to start are the Edge guides to replica forums that are pinned to the top of the "hi I'm new here" section. Then I suggest you research some more by looking through the various brand and eye candy sections to form your own opinions. I guarantee you will extract far more pleasure (and get better value for money) if you spend some time researching rather than being impatient and diving straight into a purchase. You will also very quickly learn that there is far more to watches than just Rolex and start to fall in love with the brands that most people on the street will never have heard of. Once you've formed an opinion on the watch you like start scanning the dealer and dealer review sections to decide what dealer is best for you. I guarantee that the answer to any of your questions will already be in a thread somewhere. Good luck! JG

That makes sense. I'm probably one of these without the skill or brilliance....

Hi Been around here long enough to not consider myself a noob but I still do not understand what the acronym WIS stands for. Please could someone enlighten me? Cheers JG
  22. Hopefully David's referring to the last ever Jimmy Fu CG in the world ever that he's just paid me for! If it's any other kind of trigger then I don't want to know! ;-) Edit: ...and David to keep you happy while waiting for it to fly around the world again -->
  23. I love watches For me I think the watch habit started when my father won a solid 24k gold Day Date for deal of the year at work. I was simply in awe at the fact I was looking at a watch that cost £10,000!! Interestingly enough he has only worn the watch once in ten years (to a function with his old boss to not upset him) as a solid gold Rollie is far too bling for my dad. His daily beater now is a gen IWC Flieger chrono and his dream watch is a Blancpain huntsman. I remember going to the Swiss Watch Co (watches.co.uk) in Chiswick when he bought the IWC... it's just a plain office upstairs from the street but then they opened one of many vaults and inside was a huge treasure trove of watches! Again I was in awe and in love with what I could see. Finally I was given a Breitling Colt Chrono (quartz) for my 21st bday and there was my first and only genuine prestige watch. I would still wear it as I have a fond affection for it and it's been around the world with me many times but it just seems microscopic after the PAMs. My first foray into reps (and PAMs) started after picking up a very very dodgy PAM in Thailand which died about a month after I got home. From then it was a very controlled search on the web to find a replacement. After nearly dicing with the likes of ioffer I found cqout which provided me with a pretty decent PAM but my appetite was still big and my search continued.... until I found RWG and TRC Now I have 10 reps and a smaller bank account!! 24. I yesterday purchased myself the new Sony a100 Digi SLR pretty much based on the great reviews it's had here and being incredibly impressed with it whilst testing out in the shop. The camera has a great heritage coming from Konica Minolta before they sold their camera division to Sony. I believe it's predecessor is the camera TTK uses and now Sony have added some new technology, tweaked the design and improved the build quality. As Sony are effectively declaring war on Canon's domination of the SLR market with this model the prices, especially now as we're close to Xmas are very very competitive. I paid GBP680 for the body with 18-70 and 75-300 lenses. If you can afford to spend a little more then I heartily recommend this upgrade. New pics with this beauty to follow soon (although I live in a very small flat with little natural light so my macro watch pics leave a lot to be desired). JG
