  1. He may have ended it sooner due to the overwhelming response.
  2. Red, I hope you get there in time. Rest assured, your grandfather knows you are trying your hardest to get there to see him. I hope he somehow manages to pull through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Marty
  3. Mine is in pieces on my workbench
  4. Nice shot of the lume texture and the CG pin.
  5. Be careful how much material you remove or you will end up with the second hand hitting the crystal.
  6. It could be the case or just crystal distortion. I picked this case because of the bezel height and the way the lugs curve down. It's good, but not perfect. I think it will look even better once the 1:1 crystal is installed.
  7. I should have went with that lume color! As far as the crown goes, I think he is saying the teeth do not look right. The crown to case spacing is correct. Looking at the gen pics, T48 or not, the crown looks pretty good to me and my CG fits better too
  8. My 201a
  9. It was the lacquer reacting with the tritium lume, not the paint on the dial. I would make the hands a shade or two lighter than the dial.
  10. A Clark spring is the way to go. The difference is noticeable
  11. It's all done except for the 1:1 sapphire crystal, which is on order. Build details: Cartel case Case drilled for double screw bars CG from Wholesaleoutlet990 T-48 crown FGD dial and hands w/ tritium like lume done by yours truly H3 cannon pin Jakob case back
  12. Kurt, Just tried to send you a message. Your mailbox must be full. Marty
  13. Guys, I have an FGD 205a dial that I picked up for a good price. It has a small nick in it that is down to the brass. When installed, it looks like a piece of lint (it is that small). Should I try to fix it or leave it alone? I think I could touch it up with some flat black paint, blend it in with 1500 grit sandpaper, lacquer the dial and you won't be able to see it. I could also fu@k it up beyond repair. What do you think? Marty
  14. I am giving the plaster/lume mix another try. I think I can make it work. If that doesn't, I will try the varnish. I knew lacquer wasn't right

    Goodbye Siss

Ken, Having lost my dad three weeks ago, I have an idea what you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Marty
  16. I got the dial fitted tonight. The hands are wrong. I will replace them with FGD hands tomorrow. I still need to drill the case for double screw bars and re-brush the CG. Relumed FGD hands installed.
  17. I'm having a problem with luming a pair of FGD hands. I am using a mix of plaster of paris, which I tint, and mix with some lume. It works perfect on the dial and mimics tritium very well. I tried the same mix on the hands, it applies just fine, but is too thin and brittle when it dries. What can I use to lume the hands? Would mixing the dry plaster and lume with some lacquer work? Thanks. Marty
  18. Drill the case for the double screw bars, install the H3 cannon pin and put it all together. I am still waiting for the Jakob case back and the 1:1 crystal, which won't be ready until December.
  19. Lumed by yours truly More pics with hands and a lume shot. It's not tritium, but my technique mimics the look and glow almost perfectly.
  20. The camera belonged to my dad. I have no use for it. I would like to give it to someone that could use it. Thanks. Marty
  21. My Lum-tec M25 today
