Good point. But I talked with PT about a month ago and was told to check back with him around Christmas time as he should have more by then..(which is about now.) I was also referred to a forum member that claims to still be able to source just about every model Sub available from MBW/MBK.
-
I really like the "flat S"...SWEET looking Submariner right there, my friend.
-
Just curious..what was the price on this ?? It looks good to me, but I'm no expert.
-
I actually picked up 4 of these a couple weeks ago for crew members. IMO....VERY NICE beater for the price !!! Also, just a thought...from what I seen in them, go with the ETA for 170.00 or so, change the dial and the insert and you will have a very decent daily beater. IMO all the Noob dials seem to me to have much too white, brite, bold, pronounced minute markers. Other than that, they look pretty good to me.

Thanks Frank. Very good Thread, there.

AWESOME THREAD !!! Thanks goes out to all who contributed. (and yes, I'm fully aware of the date this thread was started.) ................thanx, Star.

I appreciate that info, Frank. You are certainly not the first to say the v2 is actually better than the v3. I don't have a V1 bracelet but BK is in the process of installing everything you just mentioned on the V3. Guess maybe I should have sent the V2 for the gen parts over the V3 ????
-
Indeed I have considered that as well. But I guess I find the enjoyment of searching for parts, asking questions and trying to come up with the Best possibly rep more so than just dropping the cash, buying the gen and then....well...nothing, it's done.
-
Anyone ??

Has anyone ever compared the BK WM9 v2 and v3 side by side ?? While owning both, I've never had the opportunity (as of yet) to compare these 2 watches. I can see where the crown position on the v2 is a tad bit low...... And IMO the winding mech of the 2678 in the v2 is virtually silent. Other than these 2 obvious things, can some of you owners offer your opinions on this. I'm hearing difference opinions and would enjoy hearing from actual owners or watchmakers that have owned/worked on both. (yes, I've asked BK this as well...haven't heard back from him...he's a VERY busy guy. Thanks guys.

I have to agree. It would be tricky to use a gen as a template without taking it apart.
-
AWESOME, my friend. Fantastic job on them both. Congrats. Wear them well.

Automatico...thanks for that info. Would you happen to have a link as to where you purchased your High Grade Swiss Relax spring bars?? I'm in need of a pair for my Relax Submarine.

With so MANY aftermarket Rolex parts available these days, does anyone know how to determine a click spring(for the bezel) and springs bars(for the bracelet to the case lugs)are actually gen or aftermarket?? I recently purchased a gen bezel and retaining ring and was told I needed the gen flat tension spring washer too. (luckily, the seller had one) But to be perfectly honest, I'm not certain I know how to be CERTAIN the tension washer is gen. Or the bezel, retaining ring, click spring or spring bars for that matter. Does anyone have any suggestions or things I can look for?? I'm fairly certain my local AD friend will be able to determine this, but how to tell without having to ask a specialist?? Do these parts have numbers on them?? I'd guess the click spring to be of a heavier guage wire with a higher yield point, but.......I'm not certain. Anyone have the answers to this?? Thanks guys.

Does the new Ceramic sub use the same glide lock clasp as the DSSD does?
d-rock replied to Prsist's topic in The Rolex Area
I've had both of BK's newest offerings..DSSD and Ceramic 116610. It's as irontom said, the DSSD has the flip up down the center of the clasp allowing for adj., the New Sub glide lock adjusts from the inside of the clasp. BOTH styles of Glide Lock Clasps from BK performed flawlessly for me. hint...get the checkbook ready, my friend. If the DSSD is your "holy grail" the quality of BK's DSSD will send you out to purchase a gen. His is THAT good. And his Ceramic Sub is too. -
That's true. I have a few of the gen inserts and I'm going with the correct pointed 4. I also lucked out and purchased Gen 25-295-C2 Crystals from the same dealer that sent me the inserts. Looking at the etched crown with a 20x loupe it's perfect and doesn't have the replacement "S" etched on the crown for "service". And because the bezel on the 2nd v2 was "shot" I've just located and purchased a gen bezel and retaining ring. Gen clip ring and click spring should be on the way too.

UT Horn: I believe you're correct. I spoke with Jamie last night regarding that and it seems the only ones available are with engraved rehaut. But they did say the alignment is very good and they're willing to send pics of the actual watch being purchased before shipping.
-
I agree. Some of the rep inserts I've seen are somewhat convincing without a loupe. I've got a loupe and it is indeed the genuine article. And it looks to me to be original Rolex packaging.
-
Amen to that, my friend. But DAM ain't it fun "tryin'" to figure it all out.
-
I just noticed something. One of the gen inserts that came brand new sealed in the Rolex pack had on it, along with the part number, Cal 3035. Yet this insert has the pointed 4. Didn't the 3035 mvt come before the 3135?? I'm really confused now, too. Or perhaps the Cal 3035 on the package has no bearing as to what mvt the Sub that it's designed to fit has in it (age-wise, anyway.

Thanks for that tip. my friend. Any ideas on where I might find a WM9 bezel??
-
I could REALLY use a WM9 bezel for my latest v2.(teeth are shot) And I would REALLY appreciate of anyone has or knows someone who has a WM9 bezel for sale. I will have to resort to gen otherwise and am hoping to get out much cheaper.
-
Thanks for all the input, guys.

They BOTH look AWESOME. Congrats on the 2 "greats" of all time.
