  1. It is a ETA noobmariner, same as TrustyTime's $218, or Wo-mart's $189 so called perfect sub, or eddie lee's sub. $200 is a great price. But you're gambling with a unknown supplier. -bk
  2. at least one for me (old davidsen 112h) anybody knows the steps to take the crystal off a Navitimer, EVO and UPO? Do I have to pop the bezels first. Thanks. -bk
  3. Nice collection. You're mixing 2 YMs there though. The bottom one is better. Ha ha. -bk
  4. about fitting the bracelet to the TTK MBW: the lug holes are uneven on the TTK MBW (I hope the next batch will improve), you have to bend the spring bars like bananas and file the holes on the SELs larger in the direction of the lug holes that are drilled too close to the case. It's very !@#$@#$% annoying and difficult to get them fitted. My old MBW doesn't have this problem. Neither did my TW Best. -bk
  5. andrew's $188, paul's so called perfect, eddie lee's are ETA noobmariner (all 2836-2) josh's $108 beginmariner, ttk's noobmariner, river's $119 are asian noobmariner (all with diff asian movts tough) andrew's other subs, josh's other subs, paul's other subs, king's, ruby's, silix's, angus' are all wokky. -bk
  6. Jules Borel has the Miyota at 100/150/17 and DG2813 at 100/152/17. 150, 152 <= I think same 150 minute hand can fit both. BTW, does Miyota movement hack? I don't think so. Anybody knows? -bk
  7. I have a broken 21j Asian Noobmariner movement I want to swap out. I want to know if it's a Miyota 8125 copy or something else. I'm thinking of a gen Miyota 8125 movement, or a Chinese DG 2813, or a just another 21j Asian movement. Ofrei has the Miytoa 8125 and DG 2813 listed as having hand sizes of 100/165/17 and 100/159/17 respectively. That means I can go with a gen Miyota or copy but I can't go with the DG 2813 unless I have the proper minute hand. That is assuming the 21j Asian in my Noobmariner is a Miyota 8125. Thanks. -BK
  8. Just got this watch from TTK yesterday. It's for a friend though.Visually it's the best 16613 I've seen. It beats out the noobmariner TT. I'll explain how. The gold looks very rich. But without a gen side-by-side, I can't conclude if it has the right tone. The blue on the insert and dial is a deep blue. Again, I can't conclude if the color is correct. Apart from the colors, it's probably the most accurate sub rep there is. It's not based on the popular MBW/TW Best case. It's something else. Read on.Front:Cyclop mag is about right (noobmariner's is under). Datewindow and cyclop positions are correct. Hands are excellent esp. second hand is long enough unlike MBW/TW Best shorter second hand. The datewheel overlay has excellent number font, bolder than that of the noobmariner's. The rehaut is nicely cylinderical and has very good thickness. Dial is so so. The date window is a bit too wide. Noobmariner's dial better. The text isn't nearly as sharp, minute markers are too long and most are touching the rehaut. I will swap in a noobmariner blue dial.CGs are fat as usual. The bezel teeth are sharp and long, a little too long and pointy.Insert pearl is a flat-top. It gotta be replacedQuarterview:The crown teeth lack definition. The thickness is about right. But it gotta go.The crystal is nice and high and the bevel is quite accurate. You can see the rehaut being deep and not conicalBraclet:The SELs are nicely shaped. They don't bulge up too much like some bad SELs I have seen. They fit nicely in the lugs, beating most MBW and TW Best bracelets. The bracelet has hollow mid-links. Notice the gold wraps all around the SELs. This bracelet is good enough.Side:Thick bezel with the correct profile, i.e thick on the bottom, teeth cuts probably and sufficiently deep on the side. This it as good as the TW Best's bezel, and topping the MBW. The bezel looks like a TW Best's but then I can't say it's a TW Best because the rehaut has a different depth. More on that. The crystal is nice and high.As always, the insert isn't recessed in the bezel bay. Gotta refit the insert.Caseback:Looks like a TW Best sticker.Good caseback shape.CG profile:Again looks like a TW Best CG profile. Beating the MBW CG profile hands down.Clasp:Very nice fit here.-bkHere's the coolest part about this watch. Deep but not overly deep rehautside-by-side with MBW:Obviously slightly shorter rehaut.side-by-side with noobmariner, definitely deeper than the noobmariner's rehaut:I feel it's a TW Best but then the rehaut is more correct and not as deep. Anyway, it's a better case than the POLEX case or the TW Best case that we've seen so much. It combines the better CG profile of the TW Best and a shorter more correct rehaut. I wish there's a SS sub that's based on this same case. All in all, TTK is TTK, always top-notch in his selection of watches. He actually called me on Skype to tell me the watch is on the way. He's such a nice guy to talk to.-bk
  9. i still think the watchmaterial insert (that's what you got) font a little too thin, that's why i combine a jewelryoutlet insert with the watchmaterial pearl. but it looks good enough to you, don't bother. other people won't notice. -bk
  10. i owned that tw best which i bought from River. It's one of the top sub reps next to the mbw. The toughest thing to mod it is fitting a bezel insert FLUSH in it whether it's aftermarket or gen. Notice your insert is still kind of floating. You can get a jeweleryoutlet insert or gen insert, mill the back of the insert a little to get rid of the ridge (I have a previous post on this mod), and press the insert in. Don't worry it seems too large for the bezel bay. You don't need glue. When done, the crystal will seem shorter because the bezel insert will have gone a little more conical. -bk
  11. when erwinner put it for sale, I said let me see when somebody realizes it's a tw best, 'cause erwinner didn't mention TW Best at all. The price was ridiculously low. It literally sat there for a day or more. I'm happy for By-Tor. If I knew you were looking for "another" sub :-), I would have told you anyway. Good catch, extremely good catch. -bk
  12. Fred, You should be very happy with your ETA noob. The reason I say that is not all noobmariners have bezel teeth as sharp as yours does. There's a lot of variance in quality. The one I got had poor teeth. They are almost pointed instead of gear-like. Look around at others. You'll know you are very lucky. Yours is exceptionally nice and is one of the best looking noobmariners (along with my beginmariner) I've seen. -bk
  13. The watchmaterial insert has a nice pearl but the insert paint and font are not so good while the JewelryOutlet insert is just the opposite. The gloss on the JewelryOutlet insert is just perfect. That's why I recommend combining the 2. Wouldn't it be nice if somebody makes a perfect aftermarket insert? -bk
  14. the TTK MBW dial is really very good. Compared to the Noobmariner dial, it's just a little bit behind. The minute markers are too tall. You can see the 2 markers around "SWISS MADE" are as tall as the text. You normally find that on 14060. There is a version of the gen dial that has tall markers but still not as tall as the "SWISS MADE" text. The versions that have tall markers are the ones with "SWISS - T < 25" and "SWISS". The markers on those should touch the rehaut though. Here's a side-by-side: current gen version: my MBW with a noobmariner dial: same watch with the original dial: version with tall markers. Notice they are still not as tall as "SWISS MADE" 14060 dial, markers are as tall as "SWISS MADE": versions with "SWISS" and "SWISS - T < 25", markers are tall on these and they touch the rehaut: -bk
  15. Stop it cableguy. You're digging yourself into a bigger and bigger hole, like me. Ha ha. You don't need anyone to tell you it's a lot of work and money to get an MBW 16610 right or any MBW right LOL. The latest TTK MBW 16610 has one improvement over the older MBW despite its regression on the CG profile and bezel teeth (teeth actually too long but they're not bad). The crystal height and bevel is a step closer to gen's, not overly high crystal and the bevel is little stricter. The bevel esp. really brings out the signature look of the sub. To me, that's worth the upgrade to the MBW along with the deeper rehaut, better bezel, etc. Should you need a noobmariner dial and a bracelet, PM me. I can get those new. -bk
  16. I need to get the tubes for the gen crowns I acquired. Anybody know the case or model #? Thanks. -bk
  17. it's a fake but not noobmariner. looks more like a josh's $188/ruby's/king's etc. -bk
  18. I posted this on RWI before. For those who can't find a gen insert or don't want to spend like $100+ on a gen insert, the jewelryoutlet $15 insert + watchmaterial $31 pearl (buy the insert and extract the pearl) is a great alternative. You don't have to mill the back so much. As a matter of fact, if you take too much off, the insert won't snap in and you have to glue it. If you do like I did, the insert snaps in tight without any glue. The result is pretty satisfactory. I managed to get a slight recess in the bezel. Enjoy. Jewelryoutlet insert before mod, still has it's own pearl: Milled the back just enough to get rid of the ridge that prevents it to snap in: Insert snaps in without glue. Looks flush here while it's actually slightly recessed: It's pretty clear here that the insert is slightly recessed. Notice the bezel lip stands out. Check out the watchmaterial pearl. Very decent: -bk
  19. beauty. I'll post mine when done. Thanks. -bk
  20. can you take some closeups of the crown. I also bought a gen crown for mine but haven't put it in yet. -bk
  21. "let's see how this drives them crazy, show them a gen and tell them how cheap i got it" -bk
