Thanks for all the input everyone. If the dial replacement is not justified then, is there a practical source for the more correct Omega dial logo...one without the "clown feet" in other words....

Power of persuasion and watch replicas

In response to: "Excellent point above, So alongside the pshycological aspects we (at times) lie to get a better position and to further enhance our image, project success, boost confidence and influences ones ability to successfully conduct business (@tenacious_b - sorry, I hope you dont feel this is taken out of context)" No offense taken at all, as you have taken it exactly how I meant it. I do think it's important though to state that the only "trying to pass it off" I do is completely passive as I don't go around stating that it is or is not a fake. I let people mold their own perception as they will. They may be thinking it's a fake, or it's gen, or it's a nice watch, or this guy is shallow because of his taste in expensive watches. Truthfully, most of the time, I don't know, and am happy enough proceeding in blissful ignorance of their true perception, as I derive the added confidence from my own internal assumption that the customer is impressed, not from the client telling me how impressed they are. So maybe I am guilty of lying....to myself a little each day. <wink> This has been interesting. I am going to start a thread on unified string theory, quantum mechanics, and the role both play in the theoretical Schr -
I wear nice watches (reps) with all modes of dress, casual weekend wear, gym attire, tennis attire, business formal, business casual, anything. And why you ask? Cuz I'm so f**kin' money that I don't even know it!!!!!!

awesome; I can't wait to see how this shakes out. -
even the first article casts serious doubts as to whether or not Paul even wrote them: "Later, in 2001, Paul would claim that someone else had written the controversial passages. (Few of the newsletters contain actual bylines.) Caldwell, writing in the Times Magazine last year, said he found Paul's explanation believable, "since the style diverges widely from his own." Say what you will about Ron Paul, but at least he says what he means, and falls on one side or another of the issues. During the democratic debate, neither Hillary nor Obama would give a yes or no when repeatedly asked simple yes or no type questions. They refuse to be nailed down to one side or the other of an issue, and it is this failure to commit that smacks of dishonesty. No one candidate possesses only admirable traits, but line them all up and make a list of good and bad, and Paul wins every time. It boils down to this. Hit pieces can be written about anyone, and no one ever remembers the retraction, so I will only say that I have never taken issue with anything I have ever heard come out of Ron Paul's mouth on the radio or television. Someone could post on this forum in my name and say things to have me tried and convicted as a racist, and most of you would take it at face value, because, well it's posted under his username, so he obviously espouses those beliefs. Don't believe everything you hear, and even less of what you read. Bryan

I am not sure if you were responding to me directly or to the thread in general, but I did not pick apart any candidate over one issue or another; just that they are all the same at the end of the day, and don't really stand to impact things one way or the other anyway. As far as Ron Paul's comments on race from the early 1990's, i doubt that his statements were reported fairly and accurately. The media has all but tried to deny Paul's existance throughout this campaign. And just because Pauls comments on their being a crime problem among black males in D.C. and called the government of Israel a dangerous lobby group, does not mean that he is a racist. That being said, I appreciate your opinion and the opportunity to debate. Edit to add this link to Paul's view on race: hxxp://www.classicalvalues.com/archives/2007/10/ron_paul_on_rac.html (replace the xx with tt)

Power of persuasion and watch replicas
tenacious_b replied to blade007's topic in General Discussion
I work in a business setting where image is important, and I know that most of the cow-eyed people I encounter on a daily basis couldn't pick a rolex out of a line up of invictas from 10 feet away. But, they can seemingly tell that the watch is supposed to be something nice, and it is just a visual queue reinforcing their impression of me as a successful businessman, and in some small way, influences my ability to successfully conduct business. I am also certain that my subconscious mind, feeling smug and self satisfied with this image booster directs me to feel more confident and calm in my dealings with my clients, which serves to further enhance the experience both for me and for my clients. Now take it a step further. Many of my clients become friends over the years, and I let them in on my dirty little secret, and I have brought a good number of friends, coworkers, and clients into this sordid hobby. I have never been asked if my watches are fake, and I believe that is because of my over all appearance and demeanor. If you were to carry yourself in a certain way, you certainly could convince someone that a magazine cut out of a rolex sub on your wrist is the new ultraslim super secret submariner of which only 100 were made and you of course being among the lucky recipients. -
If any of those 3 clowns gets elected, we are all hosed. I have long understood that both Democrats and Republicans in almost any flavor of liberal or conservative are all part of the same system, put in place by the powers that be to give the mouth-breathing masses the pacifying illusion of choice. In the final analysis, the three liklies are all part of the same bad joke on the American people, and regardless of who wins the election, things will continue on much as they have for centuries, with very little tangible change, a grocery list of broken promises, and to the ultimate benefit of the private banking institutions and old money families that serve as puppet masters to the hood ornament that is the American presidency. I campaigned for Ron Paul this year, and learned a lot about the electoral process, more than I ever have in the 16 years that I've been eligible to vote, and I learned what caucusing and conventioneering is about, how the electoral college works, who they answer to etc., and I also learned that the popular vote where all eligible American voters, who feel compelled to do so, run out to the hacker-ready voting machines to cast their meaningless votes. And that's the long and short of it....the popular vote means nothing, and is just another illusory cog in the larger machine of deception. Ron Paul, in my opinion, represents the last foreseeable hope for this country. I say represents instead of represented because, though Ron Paul will almost certainly not win the presidency, he has managed mobilize the grass roots in a way that has not been seen in a long time. I can only hope that Dr. Paul’s message will resonate in the American people in the years to come, and that those who have squandered their votes on Billary, Osama, or Needs-a-cain will see that the status quo four years from now will be much the same or worse than it is today. At that point, I hope and expect to see droves of sleep-walking Americans awaken en masse from their collective slumber and embrace the principles of freedom, constitutional government, and our inalienable rights which have been eroded grain by grain by an increasingly fascist-leaning government that sold our economy's solvency down the river when they turned our banking system over to the private federal reserve banking system, did away with our gold standard, and now is taking baby steps toward selling out our sovereignty as they sell of our infrastructure to foreign companies, and engage in "talks" behind the backs of the American people, planning to impose upon us a North American Union that most of us despise. Our personal freedoms are disappearing at an alarming rate; each freedom a sacraficial lamb to the slaughter to appease the new false god our government has thrust upon us - terrorism. Our government denies documented facts that are open for all to confirm, and takes away our freedom a little at a time, knowing this is how to subjugate a people, slowly and with lies, over time, while they are sleeping, so as to avoid armed revolt. And then, one day, upon waking at the time that the government has appointed for us to wake up each day, in a new bill that was passed without a single congressman reading it, we will all sit staring blankly at the walls, and wonder, how it has come to this. We will grasp and grope through the mental fog for an answer to “when and where did we lose our freedoms?”...a fog caused the mandated food additives, gmo foods, and pharmaceuticals mandated by the state subsidized health care plans. And the answer to that question will ring through the fog with sobering and resounding clarity, "right here, right now, while you all were sleeping." If this is threadcrapping, I apologize. I am not a conspiracy nut nor am I a member of the lunatic fringe. I am simply awake, aware, lucid, and appalled. Bryan

OK, I really want a GOOD UPO, but I am tired of the dial feet issue and living in fear of the crown & tube stripping. So, if I were incline to do the following, can anyone give me an idea of how much the parts and labor would cost: 1. Purchase and install gen PO Crown and Tube 2. Purchase and install gen dial 3. Purchase and install Gen Hands 4. Are there any other mods I should consider, and if you suggest one, please include what you know about costs. Bryan

Have a look at the new porto power reserve models on www(dot)kingwatch(dot) net....seems like it would be possible to rep the new 7 day power reserve 46mm Ingenieur, since the configuration is similar. Has anyone heard anything about this being a possibility, and would anyone but me jump all over it if it was on par with other super reps we've seen? Bryan

from whom did you purchase it? -
Wow, that sounds like a blast. I did one of those big parties at a hotel a few years ago, and it's just too much excitement for me. Our new tradition is throwing a party for friends at our house. Some people use it as a launch point for going downtown, some people as an alternative, and some as a place to go after the ball drops. Anyone in the Austin, TX area feel free to drop a line and get directions. Bryan

UB, Did you get that from the seller called easysource? Let me know, I've been looking to pick up a cheap watch winder. Bryan
