GMT II C Uneven Crystal Fix - Photos Added!
tenacious_b replied to tenacious_b's topic in The Rolex Area
no problem. there's nothing better than half assing a solution and having it work out. Sounds like you did it the right way. -
Well, I am a big guy, and I have been wearing 44 mm reps for a long time, which is funny, because I found reps after years of searching and grieving over wanting a perfect yachtmaster rep. I almost flushed $1200.00 down the toilet over at replica center. I bought a sub right after my first panerai, and I sold it the next day to a coworker because it looked like a ladies watch on my wrist. Now that I have the slightly larger GMT II C, I am back on board, and want so badly for this watch to be repped, but I also want someone to lay to rest for me once and for all, how big is this watch case measured from 8 oclock to 2 oclock? On RWI someone said it's 43, I've seen 40, and I've seen 37mm, but I can't get anyone to tell me once and for all the true size of this case minus the crown. This Watch - the new Milgauss:

Lanikai - I'm sure you'll get it, but if you really want to lock it down, draft a legal demand letter from Tudor's (I guess Rolex's) legal department and demand that the seller surrender his "fake" and give you $350.00 dollars to cover legal fees.

GMT II C Uneven Crystal Fix - Photos Added!
tenacious_b replied to tenacious_b's topic in The Rolex Area
@ itseme - added pics @ llsteve80 - I do have brass ones; left crystal in and just applied pressure toward the 3 o'clock side... e v e r s o s l o w l y.... @ HikeUSA - I guess so; I don't know, but under a loop, it appears to have evenly sealed; I took it swimming yesterday and it was fine; off a diving board several times and in a 12 ft pool, and no worries. Of course I made sure the crown was snug and the case back was tightened. -
GMTIIC Owners - What is the state of your rep?
tenacious_b replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
Happy to report that my swiss IHS has been running with no issues for I guess about 10 days now since I got it and I found a clever way to fix the uneven crystal and already posted on the subject, though forgot to add pictures. I will try to remember tonight. -

A demand I surrender my Rolex watches.
tenacious_b replied to georgegrasser's topic in The Rolex Area
I will state again, as someone that has been through it, ignore the letter, ignore a hard copy if you get one, and DO Nothing at all. Don't respond, don't send them money. Don't send them watches. if you do, you are inviting Dracula to dinner. -
check this post, my reply about 4 down. I have the swiss IHS, so this may work for you: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...723&hl=sync

OK, since someone pointed out in an earlier post that the GMT II C's crystal is uneven with the high side toward the 3'oclock position, it's turned my watch into a real personal eye-sorer. I saw another post where a member used some pipe fittings from the hardware store to pop out a panerai crystal, and showed a c-clamp in the picture, persumably to pop the crystal back in. Well, I was so inspired that I went to Lowe's and picked up a small c-clamp, and used it in along with a half dollar sized coin and a piece of an artificial chamoi to press the crystal evenly into place. It was a very hairy experience and I was sweating profusely the whole time, afraid that I might shatter the crystal or damage the cyclops. There was no "pop" or noticeable give since I was using so much padding, and only had about half a milimeter to go, so I had to keep stopping and checking. After the third go, I cranked down as tight as I dared, turning the crank slowly, and decided that I would just leave it like that for 5 minutes (intuition I guess). I loosed the clamp, polished her up, and viewed her against good lighting and BAM, she's fixed! I'd post a picture of my materials, but my wife has the camera at one of her job sites today, but I'll try to remember to post when she get's back. Pictures (sorry I didn't take any befores, but if it's uneven, hey you know what it looks like: Thanks for looking. -Bryan

A demand I surrender my Rolex watches.
tenacious_b replied to georgegrasser's topic in The Rolex Area
George, You are small change compared to some of the guys Rolex goes after. Their demand was posturing to scare you. They know they will never be able to turn a profit going after Joe Blow...or in this case George Blow. They sent Bryan Blow (me) a threatening letter a couple of years ago, and the advice then, holds true now. COMPLETELY ignore it. Do not acknowledge it, do not respond to it. But also, do not mess up and get back on the radar again. Besides, if you were to turn your watches over, it would be a defacto admission of guilt. That's my best and only advice. Bryan -
Have you had movement problems with your chs GMTIIC?
tenacious_b replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
ok, so how does one level a crystal? -
Want to buy four watches in one go... the best dealer?
tenacious_b replied to Jaymoi's topic in General Discussion
If you want your watches to get snagged by customs, by all means order all four in one package. If not, order them separately and pay more for shipping. Order them at least 2 days apart as well. Speaking from 3 years of experience with thousands spent with only hundreds lost. -
Breitling SFSO - Asian 21J from Narikka
tenacious_b replied to blade007's topic in The Breitling Area
will it be possible to get this model with swiss movments? Eta or sw200 would be fine with me. -
I delivered Pizza to pay my way through college and racked up a lot of college loans. I was not quite smart enough for scholarships, and my family not quite poor enough for grants. Advice? I say get a job where you can make good tips or good pay otherwise, and stay off the sauce. If I had been able to stay awake through class, I might have qualified for a scholarship afterall.

Has anyone laid the question to rest as to whether the movement magic is accomplished by mere gears or are they jeweled? -

Don't thank me; I just read that in another thread about sync'ing the CHS model and mine is not the CHS lol -
Have you had movement problems with your chs GMTIIC?
tenacious_b replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
my IHS GMTIIC got out of sync a couple of times, but I just lined everything up and midnight both times, and took it through 48 hours, reset the time and have not had problems since. -
I went and tried one on and it seemed a little small compared to my Ingy which is approximagely the same size, but other than that, it was Awesome! I am seriously considering purchasing one, and I'd like some feedback from anyone who owns it as far as reliability, and what I could reasonably expect to bargain down to for a brand new one. Thanks!
