  1. I have wondered this myself... Probaby more revenues than the gen manufacturers,
  2. Something Non vintage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Using it now. Works fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I sold my gen 16610 when I discovered hi-end reps.I said I would never go back to gen. What's the point. That was then. 5 years later, I have a nice little collection of gens, frankens and reps. I always need some gens for certain ocassions and functions. Last summer I travelled with my gen GMT and somehow, the crown got loose and flooded the case. The servcing for that and replacing the dial and hands reminded me that it's best to swim with a cheap beater!
  5. But why is it so hard? They tried the 3135 and failed, mostly. Why? They have all the tools. I honestly think it comes down to sloppiness and QC. There's talk of cloning the AP movements which would solve the date position onROOs. If that's true, my fear is that the movements will be crap and won't be able to get serviced.
  6. Why is it so difficult for the chinese to clone 100% movements? Imagine a true clone of a Rolex movement, a 1570, a V72, an AP movement? How much would we pay for such a clone?? Me, a lot!
  7. Out of the box, I really like my Blancpain FF.
  8. Smartwatches... I don't see the need. Do we not have everything we need on a smartphone? I just had this debate over New Year's eve dinner with a friend. While I have way too many Apple gadgets, an e- watch is not in my sights. If Rolex would design something that looked like a rolex and could magically turn into a smartwatch by touching the crown... Maybe but I don't see this happening.
  9. Happy New Year to all. Lots of health, success and maybe a few new watches or two...or three...or more!
  10. RIP. "carpe diem". Such simple words yet so few apply it...
  11. Strange. Never seen such a review for non-watch items and poster is MIA after posting this...
  12. I finally received the replacement pin. Dumb question but what do you suggest I use to squeeze the smaller pin into the larger pin? A small hammer? Pliers? I'm afraid of breaking the small pin.
  13. Congrats to you! It's amazing how time flies. I agree, this place is the best on the web or anywhere in the world, if I may say so.
  14. You all know where I stand! I now understand why some members never sell anything and prefer the private trading that goes on behind the scenes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Welcome to the forum. Better start saving. Things get expensive!!
  16. I don't think you can be overly paranoid when you have a very keen buyer asking for your private info and the moment it's supplied, he disappears. He was very quick on the communication up until he got the info. If you change your mind, great, say so. It's happened to me often and I send a PM " I think I will pass. Good luck with the sale" Takes 30 seconds and no need feeling bad as we are all behind a keyboard. Either way, I've done all I can do, willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but he's on my personal "ban list". The dial has been sold to a long-time member.
  17. Just got a PM here and on RWI with an apology. I cannot validate his explanation but he claims to have been in a car accident and hospitalized. He offered to complete the deal but as the great George W Bush once said, "fool me once, shame on you, fool me, you can't get fooled again!" Appreciate you all having my back and banning him. I leave it your discretion if his story is plausible.
  18. Fraggle, already changed my PP email account password and blocked my PP account temporarily. Also, the good news is that my PP account and that bank account are not linked (ie via Paypal). Either way, bank account has been closed. The "gentleman" has yet to log in here or on RWI - at least under the username he used to correspond with me.
  19. No response from the "buyer" here or RWI and he has now gone AWOL on RWI - he hasn't checked in there sice my last PM.
  20. Thanks for the support guys. I too am hesitant about naming him as there has been no loss on my side. I did send another PM informing him that I contacted the mods here, advised the bank to be on the lookout and advised PP as well. I will see if he responds to that new PM. It's amazing what a good reputation on these boards will get you. In the last 2 weeks I have sent several thousands to one member and received several thousands from another. Both well established and trusted members. Someone like the unnamed "buyer" will never be able to complete deals like this because of this type of behavior. You change your mind, that's fine. Man up or blame the wife, something. Just say, "sorry, i decided to pass." Disappearing makes me suggest something more was behind this...
