  1. 2 options - either drill out (& replace) the rivets or bend open the links.
  2. They do not call it the golden hour for nothing.
  3. It keeps the lions away & seems to do a good job as I have not come across a single lion since I started carrying it.
  4. Either a 7206 or 9315 would be correct, but I think a period correct (early 60s) jubilee works, too
  5. Working late Friday/early Saturday wearing 1 of my Subs
  6. Before re-casing, place the case (with crystal) on top of a shiny, dark surface (I use my green Rolex leather checkbook) & look for dust/debris you may have missed.
  7. I have the parts for Spaceview conversion but this watch belonged to a close relative & the model appeared in some of the 1st ads so I am still debating whether to switch it over or not. Here it is on its original Speidel Twist-O-Flex band
  8. Now that the watch is complete, you might want to consider upgrading some of the parts with more accurate replacements, but, overall, I like what you did. Your hard work shows.
  9. When it comes to vintage Subs & SDs, I think you gain alot of credibility from genuine age/wear, as opposed to artificial or enhanced patina. These watches definitely benefit from genuine scars gained from real-world use.
  10. Here is an alternative that will accept a gen xtal.
  11. Having not worn this in awhile or expecting to be out amongst the proletariat, I decided to give my 2-tone GMT some wrist time today
  12. I guess modern Merc reliability is hit-&-miss. Other than 2 small issues (non-dimming mirror & oil seepage around a sensor), both covered under warranty, I have had no problems with my '03 roadster.
  13. Euno - good to see you back!
  14. Ending the work week wearing my chocolaty Bond Sub
  15. Unless you are prepared to buy another car, I think you are kind of stuck. Just out of curiosity, why did the dealer agree to eat half the repair cost if your car is out of warranty?
  16. Interest rates do not need to skyrocket to create havoc for economies that are over-leveraged. If the rates inch up from 0% to 2% or from 1.5% to 3%, I think we have serious problems. Over the next several months, I think you will begin to see Germany's economy sag as well. Exactly.
  17. I have not heard much about this from most economists, but I believe the real problem is going to occur (next year) when interest rates begin inching back up towards their natural/default levels (4-5%). Then, every government economy that is heavily leveraged will be in the same position as many US home owners were in '08 when they overbought homes with (artificially) low interest rate loans that began to reset. And it does not take a Ph.D in economics to figure out what happens then.
  18. The only difference between the way leaders are chosen in the US & EU is that, in the US, this happens behind the scenes, in the EU, it is out in the open.
