  1. As I learned a long time ago (& continue to re-learn over & over & over again), relying on the public for information is like relying on the government for protection. Great, in theory, but terrible, in practice.
  2. Ending the work week wearing 1 of my Newmans
  3. I suspect a mistake on Yuki's part. You might ask him.
  4. Buy the seller before you buy the watch.
  5. There are a number of threads detailing construction. Yuki sells the valve parts (click the pic for the link)
  6. Rep watches often do not get all the details correct. When trying to learn (about gen details), you should check out the watches at your local Authorized Dealer (AD), or, in the case of vintage models, in gen forums.
  7. Close. In order to BE an Oyster, a Rolex chronograph must have screw-style pushers (the screws lock the pusher closed, which keeps the owner from accidentally pressing it under water).
  8. On 62xx Daytonas, only the Oyster cases (screw-style pushers) had Triplock crowns. Non-Oysters (with pump pushers) all had Twinlock crowns.
  9. Are you aware that, in most cases, 'replacement' case = aftermarket case? So I would check out some gen forums before using this case as a guide.
  10. Could be. Especially, considering the low number of previous sales.........buyer beware.
  11. Check out Andrew or Josh in the dealers' forums. At that price, you may end up with a clone (Asian-made) 2836, which is not as good as the gen Swiss-made caliber, but if you have it professionally serviced when you receive the watch (all reps, regardless of the movement need to be serviced), it should be ok. Good luck & congrads with the upcoming nuptuals.
  12. Nice eyecandy. Reminds me of 1 of my (gen) eyecandies
  13. Impressive piece of furniture you have there.
  14. Ditto that. I hope you are taking a camera. Changing over to my 6241
  15. You can tell alot about a man by the company he keeps. The same can be said of watches
  16. He may not offer them anymore, but it is a domed T19 that I got it from Clarks a few years ago. I like it because it looks like a vintage gen T19, but, being of modern manufacture, it comes without the hazing/cracking/leaking issues of vintage domes Ditto that.
  17. The coronet is the give-away, but still a stunner (& you can always replace the coronet with a gen ).
  18. That sounds right.
  19. The etching is an anti-piracy feature, not a function. Install the crystal so the cyclops is correctly aligned.
  20. I think I would lower the height of the crystal a bit (so the bottom of the crystal bevel is closer to the top of the insert), but other than that
  21. Can you trace the watches to a single seller, who may be getting his watches from the same factory? I think you have to assume that either someone got a defective run of jewels or someone is installing them incorrectly. Of course, with reps, either (or both) scenarios are likely.
  22. The number of winds required depends on the type of movement & condition of its mainspring. Generally, you wind it, gently, until it stops (do not force it). In most cases, when the chrono hands do not reset at their correct null positions, it is because the joint that fixes the hand wand to its post is loose (a common problem with rep hands). You have 3 options - replace the hands (& keep your fingers crossed that the next set will be better - 50/50 chance), have a watchmaker tighten the joint or epoxy it (there are many threads detailing the process that you can search out) (Original pic courtesy of Avitt)
