For whatever it is worth, according to the (translated) letters, the bezel has been replaced at least twice (the dial, at least once).

The 5512 was originally fitted with a 7mm 700 Twinlock, however the other 2 use 6mm 6xx series Twinlocks (single line below the coronet). 700 Twinlock uses a 7000 tube (smaller diameter gasket fits into (crown) end of tube, larger diameter gasket fits into underside of crown)

Ended up wearing my Aryan 'Master to end the work week

Now that is what I call recycling. Beautiful!

It is rare to find a vintage Rolex GMT movement for sale, but if you search ebay & the sale sections of timezone, vrf, etc, you may eventually find 1. Otherwise, the most difficult (& expensive) problem is locating all of the GMT components required to convert a standard 1575 to GMT form. I have never done a 1575GMT, but I completed a 1036-to-1036GMT conversion last year, which took me over 2 years to complete (it took that long to source all the parts). I posted a parts list for the 1575GMT a few months ago in response to a similar post by another member that you can find via the Search, but you will still need to locate the parts & find a watchmaker who is willing to tackle the work (I am not accepting new work).

I would not be too sure about that.

Definitely, a classic, in more ways than 1. It is unfortunate, however, that nearly all of the original watch had been replaced (by Rolex) as it no longer matches the original 6538 spec. I expect that is why Rolex was unable to authenticate it during the initial inspection. As an example, the original 1030 balance cock has been replaced with a later 1066 cock & it looks like some other movement components may have been replaced with later parts as well. Still, quite an exceptional story with a rock solid provenance.

Still Thursday here & still wearing my Deluxe 6202

Perfect Clones' 5510 does not do anything for me, but I think the Yuki is the best option for cost vs quality.

Wearing my 'Graph today

Lots of errors, but, for the money (especially, considering what it cost me in time/effort/money to construct 1), I think it is good enough & may be a steal (especially the white dial version).

As Ubi said, as long as both movements are similar sizes, you can make 1 fit a case made for the other. I installed a V72 (same basic dimensions as V23) into a DW 7750 case, which took quite a bit of grinding/polishing, but it did work. You can search out my 6241 threads for details of the struggle.......er, I mean process.

Because the correct bracelets for these watches (6635, 7205 or 7835/271 or 371) are virtually unobtainable & no one (that I am aware of) has yet repped them. So we are using the closest alternatives, which, in my case is a folded link 7835/357.

Shipment took more than 1 month to arrive. Alot of the delay was due to the holidays. We will have to agree to disagree on this 1.

I know the source of that pic, but I am pretty certain the bezel on the right is aftermarket.
-
All the more reason why you should get 1 of these bezels.
-
Ubi's bezel may be missing serifed 7s, etc, but not this 1. It has it all DW's new case is a major step forward , but this bezel is a work of art.
-
Incorrect font for vintage Rolex.
-
The most likely dial sources are NDtrading, Yuki & Phong. ebay is also worth searching.

I have my Daytona bible out now (looking at the large macros of the pusher side of the 6239 - pg 58) & other than those things that can be accounted for as polishing/wear, I am just not seeing much in the way of differences (other than the engravings, whose sins are only obvious when viewed through a loupe & generally hidden below end links anyway) between the new DW case & the gens. None. And certainly nothing that anyone looking at the case from an arm's length away (my golden pass/fail rule) would detect. This case looks like a new/gen 6239 case & the bezel fonts are nearly flawless.
-
Old vs new DW You will need to make the call as to how close the new version is to the gen.
-
These bezels are solid steel (they do not contain inserts), so I am confused as to what you are referring to? Again, I am not seeing what you are seeing. The pushers look just like all the pushers I have gotten from Ofrei, which look like the pushers on my 6239 (pictured above), which came from Rolex. Again???? Other than looking new (which is why I suggested a bit of enhanced patination) vs the gen's having been polished repeatedly, I am not seeing what you guys are seeing???? Here is a gen Here is the new DW Since I received the new case, I have been going through my picture archives &, other than the funky lug engraving, I just cannot see anything that looks wrong about the new DW case. Certainly, those gen cases that have received multiple polishings over the years will be more rounded & stumpier, but that is not the way they look when unpolished or when they were new, as is the case here.
-
Ubi, other than looking new, can you be more specific as to what reservations you have with the lugs? I will pass the word. The case is for a V72, but, with the exception of the shallower caseback, the 7750 version looks exactly the same (externally). Not sure about the price, but you can inquire through his RWG forum. I am not sure what problem you are seeing with the bezel. Here is the new DW bezel on my 6239

Here is my 6239 with the new flat-top 4 bezel
-
I just received a new 6239 case from DW & I believe he has eliminated nearly all of the previous case's sins. It still needs a gen crown/tube, but the pushers appear to be the same components as I have been getting from Ofrei (which appear to be the same components that Rolex uses). Even the teeth on the caseback are deeper & more defined Gone are the laser etched case/serial numbers between the lugs. These are now actual engravings, though they look nearly hand-engraved (which is the only inaccuracy I now see on the case) Gone are the too large/wide depressions below the pushers (the depressions on the old case look like they were suited for the wider screw-style pushers). But, most importantly, the 300 units steel bezel got the (normally-spaced) '110' & both the flat-top '4' & 'swan-neck' 2s correct All in all, assuming you keep the imperfect lug engravings hidden from view (below your bracelet's end links), this case only needs a bit of enhanced patination. The bezel is going onto my 6239 Newman immediately. Thank you, DW!!!!!!!!!
