  1. Your biggest expenses (since you already have the movement -- I would get the 2846 serviced & use that) will be the dial & case. Unless you use a standard rep case, you will probably require some type of spacer to fit the ETA movement into most aftermarket cases, since they are usually made to fit a gen Rolex movement. The dials in Bond Subs tended to vary a bit, so you have a bit of latitude there. As always, I would recommend doing your homework before beginning to build. Check out gens on TZ, VRF & google to see the various iterations & options. There are a handful of 653x frankens on RWG (including my 6536-1) that you can search out to get the fires burning.
  2. Ending the work week wearing the same Sub
  3. It has been many months since I last purchased a T21 (current, beveled style), but I think the price was around $200.
  4. I would give him 1 week to reply. If no reply, then I would email him again (via his website) & keep the email simple & cordial. Include the item numbers ordered & the total cost of the order (including shipping) & ask for status. Give him 72 hours (3 days) to respond & then post the results here.
  5. For a 551x/1680/1665 with a gen or gen-size/style case (MBW/NDT/Yuki, etc), click here Then, swap the oem pearl in this insert with Ofrei's Ilumines dot (pearl) (usually, Ofrei's dot snaps right in, but, in some cases, it may require a small dab of cement) For a 168xx with a gen or gen-size/style case (MBW/NDT/Yuki, etc), try this You would do well to avoid wholesaleoutletxx & Mr. Slimeball's various aliased organizations. He is a pathological liar & they (his organizations) are all rip-offs.
  6. Same old, same old (again) for me as well
  7. Shall I forward you some of my V1agra spam?
  8. Same as yesterday
  9. Kurt - email sent.
  10. I am not familiar with the F.A.Jones movement, but I think we are saying the same thing. Yes, you would need to fix/glue the center & top 2 subdial hands, but, still, the problem is locating a movement that fits the dial.
  11. Only if you can locate a 3-hand movement with running seconds at 6 (instead of the center) that fits into the cutout for the hour totalizer (lower subdial) in your dial. People have been searching for such a movement since I have been here, but I am not aware that anyone has yet found 1.

  15. You will need to research the current urls yourself (some have changed since the article was written), but read this.

    Comex

    Fake, fake, fake.
  17. Not to take anything away from its overall beauty, but I do not think your dial is 1 of the infamous 'Texas' Newmans. It looks like the 2-color version of the dial I have in my 6239 (notable due to the slightly too small subdials & slightly too wide spacing between subdials & minute track), which gets most of the details correct (especially, the 'long-tail' 3 in the minute totalizer) with the exception of the subdial dimensions (slightly too small) Compare with a gen dial (note relatively tiny space between outer edge of subdials & minute track) The 'Texas' dials have correct subdial dimensions/spacing & are extremely difficult to (positively) ID as non-gen.
  18. All things considered, I would have gone with a gen movement, but (assuming the dial/hands/datewheel fit the movement) what you have looks good so far.
  19. How do you like the GF2 so far? I have been looking at that as well.
  20. Not sure about the bracelet clasp (are you sure it is gen) or the size of the lug holes (may be a bit too large), but other than that it looks great. All you need now is a freshly serviced 1575 & working Hev (yes, it never ends).
  21. Wore my '42 today, but will probably wear the '39 to dinner
  22. Wearing my Aryan 'Master today posing next to a pair of his crown guards
