  1. That is the idea. DW cases are made to gen dimensions. Contact seller (DW) for details.
  2. Thanks. The consensus of respondents in my pseudo-poll tilted towards a strap & I came to agree. So strap it is.
  3. Now it looks like my 16014 gen
  4. You can never go wrong with nice a linen dial.
  5. And they say the best things in life are free.
  6. Great pic.
  7. Wussies. So, you use a tongue cleaner to 'rough' up watch glass?
  8. Retailers receive a number of display materials when they become an official Rolex authorized dealer. Typically, these include wall & counter displays as well as a number of watch display stands. Back in the 40s & 50s, the stands were mostly metal, but they added softer (looking) materials in later years. Here is an older pic of the stand I posted above (on its side without its watch holder), which is from the 80s
  9. While I cannot totally disagree with that statement, to be fair, I think 1 also needs to take into account the development work Rolex does on materials & technologies, all of which costs alot & which must go into the price of each watch. I can only imagine how much it cost to develop the materials/processes that went into creating the ceramic bezel or the parachrom hairspring or the 4130 calibre, etc. Just saying.
  10. Had an urge to wear my 'Graph today, which turned out to be fortuitous because I just received quite a compliment (on my watch) from a VIP client (& serious Rolex collector) during a business meeting. I guess it turned out better than even I thought
  11. Buy the seller before you buy the part. That is the best way to (help) insure you receive what you expect. That said, I have recently noted that many generally good/reliable gen sellers are (unknowingly) selling aftermarket parts. Even the best of us can be fooled sometimes. The only way to guarantee a genuine Rolex part is to get it directly from Rolex or a watchmaker within the official Rolex network (which can only be verified by checking with Rolex). It is definitely getting tough out there, folks.
  12. Side-by-side, the Rolex 'bar's pins are noticeably stiffer when pressed & the overall finish is better.
  13. Welcome back. All mechanical movements require routine services, generally every 5-7 years. The Zigmeister, as he is now called (I believe he officially changed his handle to this), is still your best bet for lume & service.
  14. Congratulations on the new acquisition. If memory serves, the MBW bezels do not readily accept gen inserts (at least, not the 2 I tried) without modification, which is why I ended up installing a gen insert & bezel. The best options for the MBW bezel are to install a PMWF insert & Ofrei illumines dot (pearl). As far as I can tell, these are the same parts that Rolex installs, currently, during servicing (if replacements are required). If you are critical, I would highly encourage you to do some research on gen double-reds before you pick up a file or shell out any modding cash. There are many online sources for great info, but this is probably the easiest place to start.
  15. I like the depth rating & it does seem to have a revolving 60-minute bezel, so the functions are correct. But the Bulova looks like a 60s or early 70s watch, whereas the 6202 'Graph debuted in 1953. This is 1 of the various 'De Luxe' versions
  16. I read that some time ago &, frankly, the thought that went through my mind was 'What took Rolex so long?' Anyone familiar with Rolex & their long-established history of trademark protection through legal actions -- both official & un -- is probably wondering why so many websites exist that use Rolex trademarks with seeming abandon. I have been saying for a few years that it is only a matter of time until Rolex sets their sights (& lawyers) on google in search of websites that violate Rolex's trademarks. I went through something similar years ago with a toy manufacturer & these things always end the same way -- with the trademark holder getting their way.
  17. If slow response times try your patience, I would stay away. Similarly, if you are neurotic about accuracy, keep fishing. But if you are VERY patient, not too critical about realism & see something on Silix that catches your eye, order away.
  18. What did the shipper (USPS) tell you?
  19. Felt like a Daytona this morning -- the 4-year old on the left
  20. Dudro has a modern Patek Nautilus that I believe came from MBW, which was quite a corker.
  21. Well done. An alternative is to sand down the surface of the ETA datewheel base before applying the datewheel overlay. This effectively lowers the surface of the datewheel, which provides sufficient clearance for the datewheel to fit/operate below the dial.
  22. Yeah, I forgot to include those (& other collectibles).
