  1. I do not have any green watches to display, but happy St. Paddy's Day to all of our Irish members (or those who want to be Irish for a day) Oops, scratch that. I found a few green pics
  2. Congrads on your 1st rep purchase & good luck (which you will need since you have caught the rep bug).
  3. I was thinking the same thing.
  4. Has the lady checked out the collectors wares or did she break a nail on the Search button?

    DR dial

    Ditto.
  6. Or the road to the poor house, depending on your point of view (& bank balance). But I ditto Kenberg. You have definitely hit pay-dirt when you signed up here.
  7. Try cousinsuk.com in the UK.
  8. It sounds like your movement is in need of general servicing (disassembly, clean, lube & regulation). Contact Ziggy or a local watchmaker who works on reps.
  9. Congratulations & good luck on the new job. The usual 1665 beater for me today
  10. You have to love a Comex
  11. Although DW case kits are made to fit Valjoux calibres, they rarely fit without some amount of grinding/polishing. Because there is little to no consistency between 1 case & the next, it is impossible to predict how much work will be required until you gather all of the pieces together & see what fits & what does not. If you prepare for the worst (everything must be modded to make things fit together), then you will not be (too) surprised when you run into problems. Of the several I have constructed, only 1 went together with a minimum of fuss. If you are good, talented, have the patience of Job & very, very lucky, you may end up with something that looks like 1 of these There are a number of tutorials, reviews & journal/logs that describe the process, required tools/parts & potential problems when constructing DWs. Please use the Search to find them & then read before proceeding.
  12. Most likely, since your watch has been running for 2 years, it probably needs a general service/overhaul (clean, oil & regulate). Try Ziggyzumba (here on RWG) or check with a local watchmaker to see if they will service a rep chronograph. Some do, some do not.
  13. That is a very standard part. You might try a local watchmaker. Alot of them will give them to you free (they buy & use large numbers of them).
  14. This is my story & I am sticking with it all weekend
  15. Other than the damaged dial, the only possible downside I can see is if your wife (like most women) is blinded by the damage on the dial to the point that she ignores the quality that lurks just beneath it. As long as you are bidding or paying based on the understanding that you are getting an excellent movement (that will likely require service) in a non-Rolex case, you cannot lose. Unless, of course, the wife refuses to wear it.
  16. Joshua - The buyer must have received something (in writing) from customs. Did he send that to you?
  17. Never seen it before, but my guess is that it is 1 of the many non-Rolex watch companies in the teens & 20s that used to buy calibres from Rolex to use with their own dial/case. TZ or VRF would probably be your best bet for a more specific history.
  18. Beautiful pic, Doc.
  19. Rolex Tropic 116
  20. I doubt the dial blank is gen (repaints never are - unless you pulled the dial from a known gen & sent it to 1 of the few pro repainters yourself), but top notch work.
  21. Click here & you might also check with MY (he works on gens too, but I have not seen any of his Daytona dials so I cannot compare the 2).
  22. Great pics, both of you. And this is what I am wearing today to track time during Avitt's pilgrimage to the motherland (of mechanical watches)
  23. Not my style, but I can appreciate it for what it is & definitely enjoyed the unveiling. Enjoy your new watch.
  24. Of course, your Ziggyfied watch looks awesome, but are you aware that to see your 2nd pic, we have to sit through some cheesy porn ad before before being presented with another link to the actual image? You might consider switching picture hosting services.
  25. Is this the 1 on Baga Road or Calungute opposite the Elephant shop? In any case, not a great advertisement for the quality of their (or your) watches. But here is a more manageable version of your picture
