  1. My guess is that you either confused Josh or, for whatever reason, he did not understand what you were asking. Remember, English is not their native language. I would email him again & ask (only) 'Can you make a custom Datejust watch for me?' Or email the same question to some other collectors.
  2. Ditto.
  3. The 1570 (1575 adds the date feature, but the bridge is still signed '1570') is correct, but I do not believe the second hand is correct. At least, it is not correct for a 1st or 2nd gen version dial, as this is. After I missed this a few months ago, I went back & did a bit more research on the 1655. The 1st & 2nd versions of the 1655 had the squatishly odd looking coronet on the dial, but these early versions also had a second hand without a luminous dot. The luminous dot on the second hand was added for the 3rd version, which had a slightly different dial with a taller, more normal-looking coronet Here is a 1st gen 1655 (note the lack of luminous dot on the second hand & the froggish coronet) Here is a 3rd gen 1655 (note that this watch has a second hand with a luminous dot & the coronet is taller) The wheel with the rusted leaves may be a pre-owned replacement part that the previous 'watchmaker' failed to recondition prior to installation.
  4. Why not just ask 1 of the collectors to get what you want? Many can get variations of the DJs you see on their website or they may be able to custom assemble them to your specs.
  5. Check the 90 on your insert.
  6. Tribal - Not sure about the date font, but the watch is the usual work of art from a very talented craftsman.
  7. And, most importantly, PATIENCE (& lots of it).
  8. Not all of them. I was 1 of the few who initially liked the DS (admittedly, for case display purposes only). But the more I saw, the less I liked. And Lani's eye-opening review finally clinched it for me. Trying to fit the DS into my collection would be like trying to fit a fat man into the center seat in coach - not a pretty sight.
  9. Ditto the above. Marty - the reworked rep bracelet looks ok. But, at this level of refinement, only a gen will do. Invest in a 7835/357 folded link, which will give your watch an order of magnitude more legitimacy. Ask any franken-man who owns 1.
  10. Rolex (1 of my favorite subjects) Divers Datejusts Random group shots Daytonas
  11. Here is a 7828 from a very reputable & long-time Rolex seller (I believe he even co-wrote a series of well respected Rolex price guides some years back, so he ought to know) with all of the usually tell-tale signs of a franken-Tudor - ETA movement, the wrong crown, odd caseback, aftermarket strap &, most importantly, dial reads 'SWISS - T < 25' at 6, which I had come to believe was the final arbiter in deciding a Tudor Sub's authenticity So maybe our 7016s are gen
  12. I saw 1 of these Sunday night, so I may just wear mine on Monday morning
  13. The more I see this watch (gen or rep), the less I like it. But I enjoyed the pics.
  14. That is a lot of cash just sitting idle in your cases case, Flex.
  15. How many attended & where did you meet?
  16. I am currently working on 3 projects - a gen-powered 6536 Sub (which is ready for casing as soon as the Silix guys send me my case), a 1030-to-1036gmt overhaul/conversion to complete my 6542 (1 small, nearly impossible to find, part stands between com & plete) & a 7206 rivet bracelet restoration (a mother of a project, but will be completed this weekend) Anyone else with a bench full of projects care to display it?
  17. Lunch is served (Chai tea & pure (chunky) peanut butter with semi-sweet chocolate chips)
  18. Saturday
  19. The CGs on 40+ year old watches tend to look more worn down & rounded due to wear, polishing & age. While there is no standard or blueprint for reshaping CGs, aiming for something like this would be a reasonable option
  20. If I had more cash & a smaller collection,
  21. The work so far definitely shows. I would consider a few additional steps - Reshap the crown guards - as they are, I think they look too new & may be covering a bit too much of the crown Relume the dial & hands with either white (my preference) or a tannish color paint or non-glowing lume (the tritium lume on a vintage watch would have lost its glow many years ago). Vintagize the dial/hands (there are a number of tutorials you can search out, including mine done with matte spray varnish) A working Hev, but as this requires alot of work for very little visual improvement, I would do it after completing all of the above.
