I agree with the above. If the dial is gen (most I see advertised as gen are in fact either new aftermarket or redials of aftermarket dials), I would give the seller cash before his drugs wear off.
-
This DRSD (with working Hev) is all gen except for the dial (soon to be replaced), crystal (Clarks), pearl (Ofrei), case (modded MBW) & hands (Clarks). The bracelet, from end link to end link, is all gen. The drive train is all gen.

GMTIIC Owners - What is the Current state of your rep?

Perry - sorry to hear this. Excuse me if this is old news, but have you tried running both the hour hand & time-settings through a full 24 hour cycle to see if that 'resets' your movement? A few other owners have reported success with this procedure. I know this is not a permanent or reliable fix, or even a reasonable option for such an expensive watch, but if it will allow you to keep the watch on your wrist instead of in the shipping lanes, it may be a good alternative. -
You have the minimum required to remove the movement from the case. There are alot of disassembly guides that you should read. But these are the basic steps -- Set the hands to a position that is out of the way of the loose marker and leave the stem in the hand-setting position. Remove the bracelet. Remove the caseback. Use the red handled screwdriver (120) to press the stem release tab & remove the stem. Remove the 2 movement screws & locking tabs that hold the movement in the case (put all of the removed parts in a small glass or shallow plate so you do not lose them). Place some lint free paper on top of the loose movement & gently turn the case over to remove the movement. Be careful not to bump the hands during removal. Once removed, a small of carefully applied glue or clear nail polish to the backside of the marker should keep it in place. Just be careful to apply a minute amount & factor in the space needed for the glue to spread when you apply it (apply less than you think you may need). Once you have the marker glued back into place, place an upside down wine glass on top of the movement for 24 hours (or an hour if you used nail polish) so the glue can fully dry. Reverse the removal process to reassemble.

GMTIIC Owners - What is the Current state of your rep?
freddy333 replied to freddy333's topic in The Rolex Area
From the sound of it, your watch is 'Running, but with minor problems.' However, there is only 1 vote in this poll so far & that 1 is 'Ok'. Please vote if you did not already do so. I am trying to get an accurate tally (by movement) of which watches are running & which are not. -
Not my style anymore, but I can certainly appreciate a nice Sly when I see 1.

Like many collectors, I have a mixture of gens & reps. My daily beater gets worn almost daily, but I keep a stable of rotatables for dinner & special occasions or for when a particular watch just fits a specific outfit or activity. I also have some watches that I keep just because I appreciate their beauty, but which never (or rarely) see the light of day.

As of today, my watch is still running like a top. The only problems I have had were the same ever-loosening bracelet screw (adjacent to the flip-lock in the clasp), which I cured with a minute dab of blue loctite, & a slight (.5mm) deviation to the west of null of the bezel triangle. Other than that, my watch has been perfect. But I should also mention that it is not really my style, so it spends most of its time in the winder. ______________ UPDATE - Although the GMTIIC is not my style, I bought it (and plan to keep it in my collection) because of its beauty, build quality & because it sets a benchmark of sorts in the history of reps. Sorry for the confusion -- Not for sale. -

I am trying to troubleshoot a friend's 1570 that has a 'twitchy' seconds hand. That is, instead of sweeping, the seconds hand twitches or briefly pauses as it circles the dial. The hand is not contacting anything on the dial (including either of the other hands). A few years ago, I came across an article on someone's website that said this is a common problem with older 1570s which is caused by a bent spring (not mainspring). Unfortunately, I cannot find that article. Does anyone know anything about either the spring (or article) in question?

Wearing this But strategizing this

This model must have a white dial. Great piece.

If the package was sent with a tracking number, ask the seller how to track the package or try your postal service's website tracking section. If the shipment was sent without a tracking number, then you cannot track it.

Hi & welcome to Rolex. Every once in a while, a new El Primero pops up for sale & you are lucky to have found 1. This should be a great project. I have never purchased a 78390A, but I would guess it retails for around $1,200+. You might check with Ubi since he has a couple of them.

Right on all counts. The lug holes will be an issue that I will have to work out. I have done that before, but I actually prefer the basic shape of the Silix case as a base to work from.
-
Yes, I am expecting to have to figure something out on the lug holes, but I think I am going with the rols176 case.
