I have this same exact watch with the same mods,other than a gen crown and tube. This watch will take a gen crystal and also has gen bezel construction. Too bad about the small cg's, other than that... I really love the watch

Op...Looking really good! I like the way your aging the dial! I really look forward to seeing your watch completed. Donerix...I have been meaning to ask about the actual Newman Fat strap. Do you know the size or make one? I have seen more modern versions, but I like the simple one he wore.

? These Seamaster's were made in the '60s, they didn't have blue lume then. Our Seamasters posted here have NOS dials and they already have a bit more blue in them than the originals.

Unfortunatly I boought the non Swiss version 42 PO way back, thinking I would swap movement etc. But no can do in this watch.. you have to start with the Swiss version I'm told. If I can find a used Swiss PO I'll start a frankin.

You have the cal 552? mines the 565, does yours have the push/pull date changer? Mine works really well (the couple minutes I messed with it lol) It's a very unusual way to change the date. ETA: I just reread your first post and saw the pic of your movement

Thanks for the lume info..I like mine just fine. From what I've read the original 1171's were Swiss and the current ones are subbed out to a different country, and the first version uses screws instead of pins. I'm going to go Nato until I find an 1171 for a reasonable price.

I found an original 1171 with screw in links..waiting to hear back! How do you like the lume? I've noticed my hands have a slight green tint and are brighter than the dial markers...still rocks though!

I just got it..like an hour ago! I'm still hunting the gen 1171. I may go Nato or mesh for awhile.
