  1. .............or just send me your 702 crown and we'll call it good.
  2. One additional detail though... the 703 has a slanted bevel on the backside of the tube where it fits down into a tapered relief in the case. The 702 is flat with a small "step" in the back side of the tube. The 702 will screw into the tapped hole for a 703 but it will probably leak there. Mount a nice thick o-ring between the case and the 702, and use some thread sealant as you screw it in... that might do it.
  3. The 702 is the King of Crowns ... go for it. That's one reason Daytonas were unpopular / inexpensive back then, they had manual wind movements and screwdown crowns, and lots of customers said "why bother?!"
  4. Okay this isn't going to help much, but I sent my gen 6536 to Ziggy several times. The 2nd trip it went as usual, registered, insured, you name it. Tracking out the wazzoo. It disappeared into The System. Over a month went by. Six weeks. No notice of it anywhere. It simply fell off the face of the earth. I had written it off (and made a mental list of all the Post Office employees I was going to torment for all eternity) when what's this? It arrived back on my front step, unceremoniously dumped there. The box was in tatters, it had been cut and torn open, then taped back shut again with garish fluorescent orange tape. The corners weren't taped shut and the bubble wrap was hanging out. There was a printed sticky saying "Counterfeit Goods are not permissible into Canada" or something like that. But I did get it back.
  5. Don't know if it's just hyperbole, but an admin on another forum said that this guy is about to have a Come To Jesus moment, in person, by some - shall we say motivated people.
  6. Well said, FXR. Note to add: all three users are now banned. As of this morning vintage.israel had posting and PM rights suspended, he is now banned entirely. Anyone needing contact information for these people, let me know.
  7. I bought a Vizio for my favorite wife at Christmas, it was under $200 and worked well. She dropped it a few times (inevitable) and it kept working.

    My Dad

Shakespeare could say things between the lines that I find impossible to put to words. This day is called the Feast of Crispian. He that outlives this day and comes safe home Will stand a-tiptoe when this day is named And rouse him at the name of Crispian. He that shall see this day and live t' old age Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours And say, "Tomorrow is Saint Crispian." Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars And say, "These wounds I had on Crispin's day." Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot, But he'll remember, with advantages What feats he did that day. Then shall our names, familiar in his mouth as household words — Harry the King, Bedford and Exeter, Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester — Be in their flowing cups freshly remembered. This story shall the good man teach his son, And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by From this day to the ending of the world, But we in it shall be remembered, We few, we happy few, we band of brothers. For he today that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition. And gentlemen in England now abed Shall think themselves accursed they were not here, And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks That fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day.
  9. Thanks, being as it's glossy it's unbelievably hard to get a good photo showing the tropical brown and the gilt lettering. And this time I seem to have left polar bear fuzz all over it...
  10. (pardon the polar bear hair on the crystal)
  11. Four hours..... if we weren't so busy with our day jobs he woulda been dead meat at the first whiff. Autobahn? What a pansy. I was mushing my ravenous huskies down a frozen river. Thanks to you guys!
  12. I have blocked all the IPs he has used in his many incarnations here, but if he's from a large ISP that's pretty much a losing proposition. I've seen him on 4 different high-order octets in the last month alone.
  13. We're having a nice break from the weather for the next 6 hours.... the wind blew half the gravel off my driveway and it's been driving the rain in sideways through my walls. After these 6 hours we've got a storm coming down from the arctic for the next 3 days. It's going to get exciting! Wonder if I remembered to put the new lines on my trick kite?
  14. Good catch gentlemen, YOU ROCK, as always. He's banned. I double checked behind the scenes and I'm confident it was him. Well done.
  15. Did you know it's possible to disassemble a Rolex crown and rotate its head on the plunger / clutch assembly? Then if one were to carefully measure stem penetration into movements, and if one had a large assortment of crown gaskets of microscopically varying thicknesses, and if one were to methodically and carefully polish microscopic amounts of length from the ends of crown tubes, and if one were to methodically measure and insert tiny amounts of graphite into crowns before screwing them onto stems, it would theoretically *cough* be possible to make it so every crown on every watch in a collection, when screwed down, would have its coronet oriented precisely vertically. Just sayin......
  16. In my case it's too much iron. Mine look like that after I sharpen my chainsaw.
  17. Excellent Writeup!! But ..... is that your thumbnail? I like how you operate!
  18. I just took a bullet for the team and went to WUS to search around for whatsisname the favorite Doxa repair guy over there. I couldn't find it but he's been mentioned in a lot of threads. Search for Rusty Shackleford, I think he talks about using his services. Barring that, try Kirk Rich dials. They have pads to print all kinds of vintage stuff. http://www.krdial.com/
  19. Nice! I used to live on Bainbridge Island and commuted on the ferry. What a life. Ever been to Winslow? Best Thai ever at Teddy's place on Wyatt way.
