  1. That extra WOOT did it... I'm not worthy...
  2. I'm from the opposite end of the spectrum, Pizz. I put my gen 1675 up for sale and got a brazilian replies saying DON'T DO IT!!! Pffffffffffft. It's still for sale. Tick tock.
  3. Yeah I gave it to him at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor. He knew I had something really nice for him, but had no idea what it was.
  4. Thanks! I just cannot imagine the skill it takes to carve that. Where do you even start?
  5. When my son made Eagle Scout a few years ago I went looking for something really special. This is what I found... a village Elder in Shishmaref makes a few carved pieces each winter, and brings them to town for the Fur Rendezvous native gathering. I got lucky and he was willing to sell me this one. It's mounted on a piece of moose antler with a walrus tooth, and baleen on the ends. The carving on the handle just blows me away.
  6. Ahhhhhh, not making fun at all... I'm diggin it. I'm thinking I don't neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed two DRSDs. But one could pretty quickly turn into a tasty little COMEX. "Lead on, Macduff, and damned be him who first cries 'Hold! enough!'”
  7. Well, he got the most glaring flaw. What really captured my heart and made it nearly impossible to resist was the first photo with crown guards straight off a vintage 1675. I'm not convinced the last photo of the movement is even from this watch, either. Is that a 2824? In a no-date build?
  8. vlydog, I put up a better pic, it shows about half the project. I didn't bury them, that ground is all rock. I cut 18" lengths of timber for blocks and then arranged them so each block had a flat place to sit, then lifted the timbers up and butted it all together. Splinter city! Where's my pocket knife? maxman, what you're not telling us is... you trimmed those hedges by throwing sharpened playing cards with your mad Ninja Skillz. woot woot!
  9. Nicely done gents, you got it! It's good to exercize those investigative skills for the benefit of our newbs. And here I was all jazzed to see a "small rose 9411"!
  10. I hauled in a bunch of railroad timbers and cut blocks to build a border along my driveway today. Lately I've been using tiny little tools to build things; it felt good to use axes, chainsaws and big boy tools. Ahhhhhhhh!
  11. What do you see wrong with this eBay item? http://www.ebay.com/itm/350494482435?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D350494482435#ht_1535wt_922
  12. $tingray you can remove your insert and "flatten" it against a hard surface. If it's conical now that eats up some of the high sidewall. You might need to sand its perimeter so it snaps in but flatter might look better. I've done that on most of mine.
  13. Superdome? Acrylic insert? Square crown guards?? Whaaaaat?? Meet the LeJour Superman I just threw together from parts.
  14. Hey if that's what it takes to snag that 4-line Gilt...............
  15. I can wrap myself up in a blanket and squeeze into a (big) bassinet on your front porch, if that's all it takes?? (I'll shave first)
  16. I keep coming back to this thread, like a swallow drawn to Capistrano. This and Dluddy's no-date gilt Sub are probably my two favorite pieces on RWG. Sooooooo nice.
  17. A story for the ages!! What an absolute hoot. Congrats on the top notch build.
  18. After everyone went their separate ways you just KNOW the other guys were thinking "Hoooooooooooooooly smokes, I could have spent $500 instead of $5,000"
  19. Check out this cross section of a "701" Triplock. It shows a rectangular seat into which an o-ring has been pressed. On the newer generation 703 it's the same idea, in the same location, but it's more of an angled seat in the tube, so the crown's pressure down onto the o-ring mashes it sideways into the crown stem a little harder.
  20. Avast, Meatball! Ye been mum these many days an that can mean but one thing. Show us the ticky booty! Silver and gold t'gether suits me fine. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
  21. Avast! Be that the Dread Pirate Vlydog? I hears what I hears an' me hearin' tells me ye arrrrrrrrr the most feared salesman to hoist yer bones across these planks. So get thee over to the Tasty Snowflake Sale thread and pitch that booty into a better man's hands!
