  1. I got lucky, my favorite vintage was "born" the same month and year as me. Then 56 years old, then 51 years, then 47 years. Oops there's also one 98 years old, and the one sitting in a box in Seattle, 68 years old. Sure wish I could get my hands on that one again. Dragging this topic back on topic, I'd have to say the ARF SD43 Anniversary Sea Dweller is the nicest out-of-the-box rep I've seen in a loooooong time. If it wasn't against forum rules, I wouldn't hesitate to wear mine into a Rolex dealer. It's that good.
  2. Hah, none of my vintage Rolex are less than 37 years old!
  3. I have a nicely rounded caseback that measures 30.9 mm at the threads.
  4. Measure the inside diameter of the threads in the case where the back screws in... I have a MilSub caseback I don't need that might fit. It doesn't fit my MBW.
  5. How about a little reminder? Do you remember working on this one? You're the reason this case is so perfect!
  6. Yep. The last 3 gens I bought were each cheaper than that.
  7. New Jersey badass meets country bumpkin? Talk about a fist in a velvet glove, MoaB you're the best! This is the stuff that speaks to my soul. Luckily my daughter inherited the Hendrix gene and we try to outdo each other with "the best ever version" of all his songs. I've found the best Red House and she's found the best Wind Cries Mary. So far....
  8. Not surprisingly, it's on their best album too. Every single track on CTA is an icon.
  9. Man, I've been jonesing for a good 806 for years. This one looks great! Interesting they put the AOPA wings on it, but not the logo. Still, what a watch!
  10. Great clip, MOAB. I had a bunch of friends in the early 80s, they had a group (I'll mercifully withhold their name) and they were getting hot, and they were touring with Van Halen and opening for them. They were playing a side gig one night out on the road and doing pretty good, and this group of guys sitting at a table seemed to really be enjoying the show. So at intermission they bought beers for the band and the band played on. This went on for a couple more sets, so the guys in the group thought they'd go out and mingle with the audience, and sat with the guys buying beers. They talked music for awhile and went to play another set. Next break, they came back out to sit with the guys in the audience some more, and were really laying it on thick... "yeah we're touring opening for VH, things are looking good, we'll probably score a recording contract out of this... blah blah blah." The guys buying beers seemed to understand the whole scene with managers and contracts and recording, so my buddies asked them "you guys seem to know a lot about our industry. Do you do music too?" and of course the guys in the audience said "yeah... we've had some experience" So my friends stepped right in it. "What's your group?" "Chicago" They were bragging all night to Peter Cetera, Terry Kath and the Chicago band.
  11. I figured out the original link was busted so I went on a holy crusade to find it again, and voila' ... The Holiest of the Holy Watch Meccas! https://www.youtube.com/embed/ndPsU2UOoN0
  12. Oooooo very nice. I fell in love with Takamine in the 70s. You'd love the D42, I have it tuned DADGAD and running through Kashmir just sounds jaw-dropping good. *shiver*
  13. Well there WAS but then someone got into the liquor cabinet just past the champagne fountain next to the dolphin pool in the upstairs Moderators Lounge and finished off the MacAllen. Then the munchies set in and the frozen Twinkies are no more. You do NOT want to be around when that vicious combo kicks in.
  14. Speaking of..... hvor er vår fryktløse leder??
  15. I think MOAB prefers Laphroaig, just don't tell the other Mods it's in the cabinet... someone nicked the key and the levels are all dropping precipitously.
  16. @plaifender are you still making recordings of yourself playing? Since we last talked I picked up a shweet Martin D42 Special, sounds like heaven.
  17. Hot dog, you guys represent 3 of my favorite NHL teams, the Flames, Leafs and Senators!
  18. What has 14/3 to do with Pi? The answer should be *cough* self-evident (Apologies to Mayberry)
