  1. @tony those are spectacular early examples of DWs. Verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry tasty!
  2. Gorgeous! How'd you luck out with that radial dial?!
  3. @blackboxes you're gonna have to tell us more about that little beauty?!
  4. Niiiiiiice. All serious dive watches need to spend time on sailcloth or rubber.
  5. Nasty Chipped Dial is vintage Viet Nam, circa decades ago. Pretty neat, it's VN before VN was a "thing". It's in the final stages of fitting and assembly, I hope to get word some day soon that it's complete.
  6. Hey it's great to see you posting again! Those tagged pics with TRC 2008 tell a story, eh? Stick around! It's good to have silverbacks roaming the halls.
  7. @gt_lad that's a stone cold beauty, moreso than just because it looks nice. Wear that with pride. Here's a very early transitional piece, fitting somewhere in the Top Time / Navitimer / Wakmann / Gigandet / Breitling pantheon.
  8. Mister Skanky gets some exercise today
  9. Well said Mike. We're fortunate the real dedicated enthusiasts followed us here during the great migration when our original forum went down in flames. Now we keep the fire burning here. Long live RWG... the real RWG.
  10. Great. Fantastic. Rub more salt in my wounds. My kingdom for an HH 5514! Aaaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  11. Hey Tom! Great to see you again! Except now you've reset my "can't sleep" clock by showing that 5514 again. Great, just great... more long nights staring at pictures on the Internet. Watches! I'm googling watches! :neener:
  12. Here's a very good writeup by our own Freddy333 https://rwg.cc/topic/92799-a-brevet-rebuild/
  13. Magnificent! Now you just need a case to complete the story...
  14. What an effort, and what great results!! You've got crazy steady hands. This kind of stuff is what makes RWG the place it is. Well done!
  15. I need that bad boy for this project.
  16. Ahhhhhhh, that's smart thinking ... I have an ETA 2846 in the Big Gonzo, specifically because I intend to USE that thing like a one eyed rented mule. I've got all these vintage pieces I never wear anymore because the autowind wheels are wearing out, so the 6538 is made to take their place. Let me know when you're more ready to do the 5508 project, I think I have the dial you need. -------------------- Hoooooooooooooly smokes, dbane .... it doesn't get any nicer than that. Magnificent. You know, you can send it to me for long term "safe" storage...
  17. @cheld what do you have there? Let's see the face of that beauty. Look at those canoe shaped lugs, you know you might be right in the ballpark for something even more rare than a Big Crown.... The Small Crown Sub. Very few have been attempted, and none with any real success besides Freddy333 and his tropical version. :jumpy:
  18. @HaydenM you couldn't be more right. When you find yourself happily throwing $1,000 at someone for the chance to own the grail part you've been seeking, you know you're in trouble. Then it happens a second time. Then a third time. Pretty soon you're lying to yourself and trying to make it all seem reasonable somehow. It's all so very unhealthy and yet the finished pieces look SOOOOO good. "Hello my name is Nanuq. I have a watch problem."
  19. Just spectacular. How about I send you my case and bezel and you make it look exactly like that?!
  20. Welcome to the beginning of the loss of your sanity.
  21. I picked up this solid gold gen for the ever-patient Ms Nanuq for $220
