  1. Ah we're thinking different things here, the 7836 is folded with no rivets.
  2. It uses all folded links so you can open up a fold and remove the link. I described it in several topics here.
  3. That's a beautiful piece! And what a joy to see you here again old friend! Don't be such a stranger, eh??
  4. Oh it gets much worse Mike! In a universe with isotropic gravitational fields your examples are true. But surrounded as we are by huge gravitational masses we pull back the covers to reveal the realm of relative time. Et voila' And now things get very weird indeed. Inertial mass and gravitational mass are indistinguishable and no accelerated reference frames agree. In a nutshell clocks near large masses run more quickly because gravitational time dilation appears as accelerated frames of reference. And bingo zingo, clocks run at different rates. Which explains why you and me are always setting our watches back I suppose!
  5. Rats I thought it was this one....
  6. Ah well that explains it. In my world, no real Rolex exists after 1974. [emoji12]
  7. Jovi75, you attracted the interest of some of the strongest builders here, or anywhere. These guys have forgotten more than most guys will ever learn about vintage Rolex. So pay close attention to everything they tell you. You have some okay parts but you're going to hate your case before this is over. If it's not sized to accept gen parts, you're going to waste more on crap parts that don't fit, than you would spend to just get a good case. Then look at your dial. No 5513 dial has metal surrounds on the indexes. You want a good bezel and insert... that won't fit what you have now. Like the man said, stop spending money and READ. We have solved all these problems here and the information is at your fingers. When you have read everything and understand it, then we will take the next steps to help you complete a perfect project.
  8. *GASP* You mean you don't take your DeepSea/DeepUgly to 3,000 foot depths every weekend?!!! That's like... that's like... (just a second I'm thinking of a good metaphor) that's like...... like having a whole box of Chips Ahoy and a cup of hot coffee, and not eating them. The Humanity!!
  9. No kidding, man I miss some of the knock down - drag outs they used to have here. Bare knuckle watch collecting!
  10. Medphreak! As I live and breathe.... man there are a lot of the old names here. Madas, By-Tor, Neil... all we need is Bricky and Demsey to come out swinging again.
  11. CrazySaleMan (is he Paul??) does pop in from time to time. I remember a few years ago I forgot my watch at home and in my moment of panic he showed up and offered to save the day with his New Wrist Wrap Watches. https://rwg.cc/topic/57992-crisis-panic-emergency/
  12. Ubi, that's so pretty it makes my eyes water.
  13. The only time I even notice the steel is when I use a band and head from two different manufacturers... sometimes one is "whiter" than the other because the alloy doesn't quite match. Other than that?? Metal shmetal. Wear it and enjoy it.
  14. The Big Gonzo out for his evening constitutional.
  15. Well yeah, and you'd need 8 more links to get it around your Popeye like forearms. [emoji1377][emoji1377]
  16. Hey big guy, good to see you around!
  17. You know it's against forum rules.... you can't mention a home made 16800 COMEX and not show pictures of it! Let's see that beauty.
  18. @manodeoro, I used to. I worked on the arctic coast near Nuiqsut, Kuparuk and Deadhorse. Are those names familiar?
  19. Well done. The shape of the CGs is unique to this model and you're right there in the ballpark.
  20. Thank you for that ceejay, and for your acknowledgement Timelord. Yes, this place is something special. We have a lot of depth and a lot of members willing to go the extra mile to help out. It makes me awfully proud to be part of RWG.
  21. Q: why do Brits like their beer warm? A: because Lucas also make refrigerators.
  22. Oh great, I bet my Rover heard that. Now she's going to refuse to start after work. I read it somewhere once... "unlike most people, Land Rovers are capable of returning affection." Nostalgia? Naaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
