  1. Nice choice... the Ubistang. I wonder if you could get a 4wd drivetrain under one of those puppies?
  2. Dynacorn corporation has lit a firestorm in the hot rod community with the release of all-new replica / replacement / restoration bodies for classic hotrods. If you've always had a hankering for a 60s street rod, here it is... no need to spend years restoring an original back to running condition. Mustang Fastbacks So............ How does this tie in with Franken watches? Pick up a Yuki (or equivalent) case, mount a genuine movement, bezel assembly, dial and hands... is it a "real" watch, any more than one of these is a "real" street rod? Food for thought.
  3. Wow, a very nice build indeed!
  4. Welcome back, Steed! A pleasure to have you treading the halls again. One of the coolest photos ever taken, "hot brakes" at Le Mans.

    Au...

Ah hah, there it is. Very nice, very subtle. Nice catch, J!
  6. Nice! And if you got the studded version of the belts you could attach it to the recovery point and get your truck out of a snowbank!
  7. Simple... get Harold to build him one of these. Is it a Seiko? Or isn't it?
  8. These three get all the use, because they're thin and so doggone durable and useful. Of the three, the 1665 gets 95% of the use... I've always got her on my wrist it seems, I've sort of migrated toward her from the Sub the last year or so.
  9. Okay, Admin will have to explain the numeric discrepancy, but it looks like we got a winner!
  10. Ohhhhhh, yes! Verrrrry nice. That would look great on a Lumpy bracelet by Watchadoo.
  11. Great gesture, Hike! Wow! Who's it gonna be?
  12. Dang, T ... is there nothing you're not good at? Nice save!
  13. Hearty welcome, Matt! Hike did tell you, didn't he, that the newest member has to buy a round for everyone else on Fridays? Cheers!
  14. Oh, and I want to thank Ziggy for his passion and attention to detail and artistry that makes normal human beings seem like fingerpainters. He developed a sense of trust that broke the ice on my mind and gave me a time and place to FINALLY have my gens serviced. They were way overdue and he made it possible. Here's to another 40 or 50 years of use!
  15. I'd like to thank TwoTone for being the brother he is, his tireless work behind the scenes, and for hauling me down off my mountain once in awhile and forcing me to eat steak with him. A gentleman and a scholar.
  16. Simple, Gran... send it to me and I'll make the ever-delectable Ms Nanuq's eyes sparkle. You will, of course, get all the credit.
  17. I use an iPhone for 90% of my "non work" computing and I'm real pleased with it. There are some things it won't (easily) do so I keep a dinosaur tethered in the Man Cave too.
  18. All right, spill it. You can't leave me hanging... was this his favorite deodorant?
  19. I wouldn't go with either, they don't push my "heirlooms/significant events" button. Instead I'd look for something like these: '70s Longines chrono diver, $1,300 '50s Longines chrono, $3,000
  20. Good thing "Doxa" has four letters in it!
  21. Looking nice, but check the letter "A" in your font. The red "A" in SUBMARINER is close, but the gen font has a flat top. Your letters "R" are pretty good with the "broken leg" drop to the right. You'll want to add subtle serifs to the rest of the letters. Great start! Here's mine.
  22. Nice! I wonder if Watchmeister will trade one of these meters-first tropicals for his scabby old 5512?
