Well, I don't have the ability to make a choice, personal or otherwise, about NYC trash pick-up or the Vegas labor union. I *DO* have the ability to at least make a personal choice about this. Why is that so tough to understand? Maybe by making a choice/decision now, it won't get to the point where J&A are the only game in town for certain watches, thus removing any choice? Maybe not, but there is only one way to find out...

Well, TO ME, this isn't about the final pricepoint, per se. If a rep costs $700+ from EVERY source out there, it is what it is. You either buy it or you don't (I won't). What this is about, TO ME, is an attempt by a portion of the dealers to ARTIFICIALLY INFLATE PRICES, by attempting to force the lower-priced dealers to raise prices or, if they don't, to restrict their supply of that watch. MANIPULATING SUPPLY/DEMAND IN ORDER TO RAISE THE PRICES *I* PAY IS NEVER GOING TO BE "OK" OR ACCEPTABLE *TO ME*.

How on earth is attempting to force dealers with lower prices on certain reps to raise the prices "doing the right thing to the customer"? That is exactly what happened here. "Raise your prices on <insert model here> or else the factory isn't going to sell to you anymore." That type of activity only hurts *us*, the consumers.

Looks like cheap crap to me, Panera. Judging from the pics alone, the fit and finish appears to be WELL below any genuine RXW watches. Below Davidsen's standards, too, for that matter. It looks like a $250 Asian powered rep to me.

DSN is the best option, IMO. I'm not sure if any other dealers will sell crystals as individual pieces.

FWIW, my gen 002D has a more pronounced blue AR than my DSN 010 rep. Like with everything else Panerai does, it varies depending on which model and which series.

I'm SERIOUSLY considering doing this to my 002D. It would look just like that one (base L dial and PVD). Hmmmmm.... I agree, if those photos accurately represent the color, I'm not really buying that as OEM PVD.

What's the motivation for going with a 6497-2 over the much more readily available 6497-1? Are you looking for a Panerai decorated 6497-2? T's movements are decorated, but not decorated like a PAM movement.

The caseback isn't *quite* correct. That's a 001B caseback. The good news is that both the 001 and the 004 were made in batches of 3000 that year. The bad news is that the OP number should be 6519 for the 004B, not 6518 (that's correct for the 001, though). All in all, it's the most accurate case back you'll find for this watch, AFAIK.

My gen 002D crown certainly seems to be all polished, it has a noticeably more pronounced sheen than any of the 3 Palp crowns I have.

Good work, Rolli! I wonder if maybe a light cape cod treatment on the CG might give a similar effect? It works on the brushed rep Oyster bracelets....

The 111G had the Pre-V crown guard, too, from reports I've read.

My case back is correct on my Zero, it's just that it's correct for the 005 (G series xxxx/1000). Ah, well, close enough!

G series 112, there, Rick? Looks great! I've got to send mine off to vaccum to be fitted, I don't trust myself with a file. The 000 will be looking good once it's installed, though!

One man's ceiling is another man's floor... No one is saying you should obsess over the minutiae like we do. If you don't, good for you. Whatever makes you happy. Just understand that yours isn't the only point of view out there, and differing opinions about what is acceptable/important don't mean that one side is "right" and the other is "wrong". Each unto his own.
