GUYs.....thank you all for your participation in this cool review. I am amazed by the quality of the written review....while reading I felt looking at a good show of amazing discovery (and I mean that in a very positive way). I love this forum for what it is....a great melting-pot, a good source and a true info-pool for my beloved hobby. My Skyland is on its way to me....my new strap must hit my doorsteps this week....I will post pics and possibly do a side-by-side review with a gen (my best friend has got a gen and when I hand him his new strap we will do pics!) Only thing I need to know is: Is the bezel-engraving covered with clear coating ..... to give it a smooth feeling? Or do you feel the engraved numbers when touching the bezel??? Thx for letting me know, Theo

BLACKSTEEL treatment: The black steel case is a result of a "highly resitant carbon nitride-based treatment" (C3N4). And thats a chemical process to cover stainless steel with a micro-thin layer that hardens the steel. It is extremely scratch resitstant! My friend has the real deal and thinks about selling that one because of this new rep the gen BLACKSTEEL is a real beauty but I fear that the factory did not make the correct/gen treatment (just my guess) .... but teach me wrong.....I will order this watch anyway cause I allready ordered a new strap for it So if the new rep Blacksteel is scratch-proof like the gen...CONGRATS...than the factories are up to a new century of rep-making. Good question Mickey....I like to know that as well. I am flirting with this model....but only if brushed finish....the describtion says BRUSHED...wheras the pics show POLISHED case! Who knows. Theo

That FREDA-thingy has a nice texture....but the strap/size is completely wrong, it does not taper down to 18mm!!! I got that BOB strap he offered on the sales corner beginning this week....great value for 65$ and the specs are close to gen...plus; the deployant fits the strap! Theo

Only alternatives will be: - straps from www.Steinhart-watches.de or debaufre.com.....they have good quality pilot-straps for around 60$...but you cannot use them with the deployant! - BOB straps....he has his own section on this site (sales area), he has some new BP straps on the way, ask him when they will be ready! Price should be around 90$ Theo

errrhh....and BTW....there is no need to polish an Offshore! The AP ROO is a scratch-magnet and every single real deal of this model I got in my hands was scratched extensively (bezel and the sides).....so the scratches belong to your watch....the more its scratched, the more you show your love to it. WOW...thats the very first time I hear about this model.....cool piece . Anyway, there are a lot of members on the gen-site that are really pi**ed to see the launch of a Blacksteel that is nearly equal to the SE they bought just a year ago. But thats the way of the business....limited hotsellers can be cloned and will still be hotesellers. I will wait for the rep to come out soon....and there will be a rep ... deffo! Theo

Dear All, in the beginning of this year I was buying nearly 4-6 reps every month....now I am down to 1 watch per month and have not yet bought/decided what to buy in November....maybe I will not buy any new watch in November???? So the question is....will the global financial crisis have impact on the rep-prices???? I allready saw some dealers offering their watches for discounted prices and some of the dealers are ready to negotiate prices....is the era of highly priced 500-800$ reps history for now???? Will we see new reps with decreased prices? Can you answer for a Skyland Blacksteel costing 600 USD without feeling bad? I like the watch and I would have bought it.....unfortunately there is nothing you can do to make the shiny case into a matte surface....ceramic is hard to work on! The TOP GUN logo is done bad....laser edged rather than deeply engraved as it should be.....well engraving is much more pricy. DO THE WATCH IN MATTE BLACK AND I AM IN! Theo
