  1. Awesome river, let us know how this project progresses!
  2. I work in the entertainment biz, fashion and music, and Panerai is DEFINITELY a hot commodity. When I got my first, then 15+ panerai reps almost 3+ years ago, I wasn't familiar with the brand...I got introduced to it by a music industry producer. I thought it was nice, but basic...but like all of us know, once you start wearing a Panerai, it infects you and you become a huge fan... and maybe end up buying a couple gens like me. I get comments almost daily about my Pams from various people I work with, "nice pam"...but rarely ever get comments on my gen Rollies. I've seen many BAD rep PAMs on many people in the biz too that aren't even CLOSE to the caliber of our best reps, and most of the Pam comments come from guys. The girls will make comments about how nice and bold it looks, but it's the guys who always notice the Panerai as a Panerai. I'm asian and there has always been a watch culture in my family, but for my older family members, there is only one watch...Rolex. They don't understand the love we have for Panerai. But with some of my nephews graduating next year, the aunts and uncle have talked about doing the "chip in" on a rolex, but I threw out maybe a PAM 111...but got out voted... If I was 18 again or 22 again and about to graduate, I would definitely take the Panerai over the Rolex.
  3. Hey river, keep me on your for sale list if you end up getting a couple made dave
  4. I've heard that the MBK APROO secs @ 9 is amazing, but the new Chinese APROO secs @ 12 is amazing as well. Since the Chinese APROO secs @ 12 was made from a GEN CAD, which is more accurate to the gen? Awesome if the MBK has superior finishing(we're still waiting on someone who owns both to do a side by side, maybe Theo will PAM1A), but if the superior finished MBK isn't replicated off of the gen, how will it be better? I was impressed with my Black Themes secs @ 12, but sold it to Slai so I can get the 2 rubberclads which are better for my smaller wrist...but it was definitely one of the better reps I've owned and I've bought over 100 reps over the years, always swiss when available. We need someone to do a side by side...and if possible a side by side by gen side
  5. Awsome rubberclad! I have both black and white coming from Angus, and after seeing your pics the anticipation is mounting.
  6. Nice Dani, I'm waiting on my Oracle strap as well. How does it feel...comfy?
  7. Laz, I think many of us feel the same way...but...we're still HERE . I agree, a gen is a gen, and i stepped away from the hobby for a whole MONTH to focus on gens before I came back because I love watches and our forum. I know I've become much MORE selective in the reps I purchase now where 3-4 years ago, i would buy a couple a week. I've sold almost all my reps, many modded...and many I regret selling but happy knowing other members are enjoying them. You could simply take a break from buying and just enjoy the forum, that's what I've been doing until something caught my eye...my 27 and 28 project and the new AP ROOs...everything else hasn't excited me lately...but I do know the reps are IMPROVING from where we were only a few years ago. dave
  8. Yes, the Black Steel is SICK!!! When I saw a couple members grab the gen SS Skylander earlier in the year, I had to grab a gen too(it's an amazing watch)...BUT my heart was always set on the black steel so bring on the Vader.
  9. Hey J, Looks amazing!!! Congrats..i may have to look at Simona straps too now!
  10. Count me in for 2 Lani...thanks for putting this together!
  11. hey lani, interested in this thread even though I don't own a GMTIIc yet...about to email angus but keep me in the mix please. i don't check the rolex board often so PM me so I don't miss the GB.
  12. IF they can rep this amazing watch, it will be expensive but if they can match the finish and build quality, I will definitely get one. AP ROO is the new HB BB.
  13. Thanks Lani...you are right, the factory MAY fix the date window issue but when? It could be next month or 6+ months from now, depends on how quickly the manufactured stock disappears before they make another run. If you love the AP ROO, go for it it's an amazing watch. I'm sure many other much anticipated variations will be coming out in different dials.
  14. Happy B-Day Warren!!!!!!! :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory: :victory:
  15. Awesome Dean, I'm sure alot of us will be reluming ours shortly, it's a great reference point. dave
  16. awesome theo!!! I got my 27 with your dial earlier this week, thanks for swapping with me and I'm so stoked your 28 showed up. Now I'll have to finish my 28 pvd project too...yours looks amazing. Dave
  17. Put the proper rubberclad strap on that and I'll bite...hope they come out with the rose gold too(and i'm not a gold kinda guy). I'm assuming the screws for the rubber bezel are SS, but the photo makes it look black...probably from the lighting.
  18. Oh snap! These are my grails, I may be putting up my new SS BLACK THEMES secs @ 12 to get these...we will be in AP heaven...!!!
  19. Does anyone have know how the LUME is supposed to look on the ROO Black themes? thinking about sending mine up to for relume and black date window paint job rob once jen gives me the green light, would like to give The Zigmeister a reference. rob may also be able to give us some insight into how the movement is, i'm sure everyone is curious how reliable the new secs @ 12 is.
  20. Buttons on clasp are just for looks, they don't depress...to get the bracelet deployment to release, you have to PULL the buttons on the clasp to release. That's my only disappointment since it's a nice bracelet otherwise...I'm off to buy a nice strap for this baby now! Thanks for the lume shot, the only lume I saw earlier was ONLY on the hands..I guess rob will be reluming many of these momentarily.
  21. Awesome Pics L, Just got mine from Angus this AM, I was going to attempt photos, but yours are awesome so not needed. I agree with all your comments, I will be sending mine up to rob for a movement overhaul...and will ask at that time if the date window can be painted black. lume is also only on hands, nowhere else... my caseback serial number is different than yours which is a good thing, F50140...and this thing is a heavy bastard! dave
  22. Hey Crick, We'll get you on the next one! Shane, I've been fiending for a BP since yesterday too, I thought I had this obsession under control...I must...resist. Yeah, something about the submersible gets addictive...the sub was my least favorite Panerai until I tried it on, definitely gets most of my wrist time more than my 111, 188 and 212. I sent strap culture an email for one of their gator straps today...yours sold me the minute I had it in my hands dave
  23. I agree, I never really like Breitlings until I picked up the SFSO eta white dial on gen rubber...when the Skyland pics started to surface, I was drawn to the black steel but couldn't convince myself to pay that much for it, but fell in love with the SS BLACK DIAL. For me, it's my only true Blingy watch that has amazing wrist presence and is solid. I was looking at the grey dial which is nice, but the Black dial looks ridiculously good...I think several other members have the Black Dial Skyland. I also got a great deal from an online retailer for 20% off from retail so it was a good buy. dave
  24. It was kinda last minute, Slai actually originally was coming just to grab a Christmas gift bottle I had bought for The Zigmeister to bring back to Canada since he's from Montreal...gotta love our amazing members! Next time, I'm sure we can get a couple more members to join in, I know we definitely want the King of AR Brian aka Chieftang at the next one. I'm not much of an organizer since I'm in and out of town so often, but whenever another SF GTG happens, hit me up...if no one sets up something, we'll...I guess I'll have to make an excuse to...get together. One interesting note, even though we enjoy all watches, more gens than reps were present. I think it's also a great opportunity to do a side by side with gens and reps without the AD sales person staring at you...it's amazing how far our reps have progressed, and it's nice to compare. It's also nice to compare our progression as collectors, where reps have been our transitional vehicles to gens...when I first saw my first Panerai, I didn't get it...now after having gone through 15+ reps, i own 4 reps and 4 gens...go figure. besides, how often are we lucky enough to be in good company who don't think it's insane to talk about watches for hours on end...? dave
