  1. So you use the dots to secure the dial and as a spacer...and do away with the rep dial ring that was used on the rep dial ?? (I'm referring to the dial ring as the ring with the 2 grooves designed to catch around the dial feet and sort of hug the outer diameter of the mvt.) Thanks again for all the useful information.
  2. Thanks again for the informative reply Brother. Double them up to be certain of enough clearance..... that great to know On the ones you've done did you simply rely on the dial dots or did you in some way adhere the dial ring to the dial and mvt. too ??
  3. Thanks guys. I really appreciate your sharing of knowledge. Where would you consider to be the best place for the pads and/or 2 sided tape ?? And typically how thick are these dial pads ?? They obviously cannot interfere with the DW rotation. Thanks again for all the expert advice and insight.
  4. Yup. Puffy is very trustworthy. He's legit and so is that gen insert
  5. So the WM9, TW and TC cases wouldn't be a good place to start a 16800 ?
  6. Got time for a question?? Did Rolex ever make a 16800 transitional dial with a Matte finish and the white gold ringed markers?
  7. The gen crowns 24-703 and 24-704 will fit the rep tube in the BK TW perfectly too.
  8. I've done alot of looking, reading, asking around. I've come up with the same thing Donerix said...it should work. Some have mentioned repositioning dial feet to the ETA position. Some have mentioned adhesive dial pads to secure the dial to the mvt. and 2 sided tape to fasten the dial spacer to the dial. I imagine glueing new dial feet and glueing the spacer to the dial to be quite difficult. Has anyone ever used 2 sided sticky dial pads ? Will they secure the dial well enough, allowing the mvt./case clamps and stem to do the rest ??
  9. That's what I was thinking too...but appearantly not.
  10. Which gen crystal are you trying to use?? 25-295-C ?? I would have thought this crystal would be alot bigger than the 295-C There's a modder/builder on here that spins his own crystals...but I don't recall right off hand who it is...I read it somewhere. Might be worth a shot.
  11. Hurry up already. This is one build I'm anxious to see. Congrats.
  12. I've did some looking around myself. I don't think BK's DW OL is going to fit this one. No idea where to find a gen crystal for this model...they're likely not available to the non-gen owning public yet...too new. AR coating can be removed with Brasso, a green scratch pad or most likely any number of different abrasives.
  13. I have now...and thanks for sharing that. And thanks Donerix. I guess the rep dial spacer will work or can perhaps be "faired" to fit the smaller gen dial and repositioned feet...? And perhaps it too can be glued to the dial and new dial feet for better support...?
  14. Beautiful looking Sub db. Congrats...wear it in proudly and in good health
  15. Does anyone happen to know what the dial opening measures on the TC case??
  16. Thanks Star. Perfect fit with which adaptor...2836 or 2824?
  17. BK TW crown height is on par with the TC 16610 crown height?? That's not what I gather but crown height has never been an issue for me. Which is why I'm sticking to the TW But the question is...will the BK TW guts fit into a TC case issue free ?? Meaning will the 2836-2 fit the TC case..?? Due to crown height I'm saying I don't believe it will be a straight drop in...but I really don't know.
  18. An oversized mvt support ring and cut it down? I'm not sure I understand what you're saying on that one....?? The dial opening is smaller than the gen dial diameter but only by .3mm (which isn't much at all.) It seems the obstacle will need to be overcome installing a gen dial in the BK TW 16610 case to. The gen Submariner dial is 27.3mm and my measurement shows the dial opening in the TW case to be 26.9mm I'm hoping the adaptor will perfectly center the dial but securing the gen dial to the 2836-2 perfectly centered after clipping the dial feet may be beyond my level of skill. Any suggestions on this ??
  19. That Noob GMT II dial looks GREAT !! Awesome job sneed.(as usual) This "swiss improved" CHS fit the Noob case with the existing adaptor or was another one needed? I've been told the CHS 2836-2 is a bit thicker due to the bridge and gear-works. Any problems fitting it into the Noob case?
  20. The gen crystal will fit perfectly with the correct gasket. You may do better to pull the entire bezel (crystal ring included) and press it onto the TC. (it should fit that way but I've never tried it.) But then again, the top of the TW crystal ring is likely to have been shaved down a bit to fit the gen insert....not sure if a TW bezel ring fits the TC crystal ring correctly. I don't believe the 2836 will fit the TC case well due to the higher crown position as you've mentioned.
