AP GP Forged Carbon Modded Final, Rep Vs Gen comparison
japanic replied to ryanwayer's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
How is the weight compared to a stainless offshore? -
I am almost certain he was wearing an Omega in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Either an Aqua Terra or an Hour Vision on a leather band.
-
Try emailing Josh or Angus. I have gone to the for various case parts and they have always been obliging. For rollie datewheels you may have to buy a few to make it worth their while. What its_urabus said probably is your best option if your CONUS.
-
You can try emailing one of the TDs about buying a datewheel complete with overlay.

For my BK superlumed 16610, I waited about 3 months. Ordered in November and got it the first week of February. Well worth the wait.

Beautiful watch, ugly marks on wrist - ideas anyone?
japanic replied to ninjagaiden's topic in General Discussion
A possible option is to have the caseback coated with ceramic or plated with white gold with rhodium in the alloy. Rhodium is hypoallergenic. I am not certain of the chemistry in regards to the ceramic, but it should put a layer of material between the watch and the wrist. -
Asking the jeweler to open up the caseback in order to verify the movement is a reasonable request.

Going to take a shot in the dark and say that ISC probably stands for International Sorting Center. New York is one of the busiest receiving centers for goods from asia, it probably receives tens of thousands of packages daily; all of which need to be properly checked by customs and processed before being handed off to the USPS or another shipping service for the final delivery. Just be patient. It typically takes around a week and a half for good from China to reach their destination in the US.

Stretching problem in vintage gen bracelet?
japanic replied to rwgforumfan's topic in The Rolex Area
i believe stretching is caused by the slow deformation of the adjoining pin in each link, after some time the pin starts to become bow shaped. -
Which low beat ETA movement for Josh 1655 McQueen?
japanic replied to rwgforumfan's topic in The Rolex Area
Save yourself the trouble as Josh's McQueen Explorer is pretty good out of the box. I would just stick with the stock 21j movement, as it already has a low-beat rate and has a functioning gmt hand. It has become increasingly difficult to find a low-beat ETA movement with a gmt function. Not to mention new hands, cutting the dial feet and hoping there is enough space for 4 hands... -
I really like the hybrid, much like the custom jobs by Project X. Although I was expecting a bawdy limerick or a blue joke to be honest.

It depends on what year it was made, if it's an older plastic crystal DJ than that price seems pretty fair. If i was in your situation I would probably selling the TT bracelet on the bay or on VRF, which may get you close to a grand depending on the condition. Just get a service and polish then put it on a proper crocodile or alligator strap and it would make a great everyday wearer; simple and unassuming.

I think the Tag Carrera Day-Date is 43mm.

New Tudor watches: Tudor Pelagos and Tudor Black Bay
japanic replied to nick1972's topic in The Rolex Area
I'm liking the the Pelagos more than the new ceramic supercase 114060. -
Simply stunning. Even I'm not a PAM enthusiast I'm blown away! Not too long ago I saw a PAM homage where the case and buckle had etchings done in the style of Maori tattoos. And that company was charging 1000+ dollars for an homage with a Mitoya movement! Have you ever tried it on a case?
-
The case looks like a 5508, but the dial appears to be 5513. The 5508 dials i've seen are marked 100m=330ft
-
Well if you are planning on turning a 5514 into a 5513, it would look odd having the Helium escape valve. Correct me if I am wrong, but that combo, I'm certain has never existed.
-
You may also want to see if a 3035 fits into one of sean's cases, there seems to be a general consensus that it is best sub case currently available. Don't get me wrong I think BK does wonderful work (I'm actually wearing a TW best right now) but the bezel on sean's case has BK's beat. just my 0.02

I love this DJ I. Help me find the best rep of it
japanic replied to sixers_610's topic in The Rolex Area
That is an Oyster Perpetual Date, not a Datejust. But try this: http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_12&products_id=1474 or this: http://www.watcheden.biz/rolex-datejust-swiss-eta-movement-with-black-dial-stick-marking-i-35631-p-1.html I'm almost certain it's the same watch, the second is more expensive because it includes the shipping. -
I was just browsing a usual rep sites, not one of the TD sites but I've purchased from them half a dozen times and I noticed the prices have jumped at least 40 for most watches! I was browsing for a simple SS datejust and some had almost doubled in price from what they were earlier this week. I hope this is just some temporary gouging because of CNY and not a permanent trend.

Dial looks too gray and dark, as opposed to the sparkly silver. The surrounds of the dial markers are too thick. The CGs also look a bit too short, or the crown could be too tall. Compare to gen pics here
-
If it's a 4813, you can buy one from ofrei for $26.10 plus shipping. Most people don't even bother servicing a chinese movement as it's cheaper to just replace it. http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html#23541

I don't know if what you meant was feet first or meters first, but in any case try this: http://www.chrono-shop.net/en/dials/1248-rolex-5512-submariner-rare-dial-4-lines-luminova-matte-finish-original.html

Although technically a sport watch, I think the leather band dresses up the Royal Oak Jumbo quite nicely. http://www.yourtrust...roducts_id=3554 Or try the simple elegance of the Lange 1815 http://puretimewatch...her-strap-a17j/ You may also consider the classic Datejust and just put it on a genuine croc band.
