  1. This particular watch is a "fantasy" model, meaning it has no authentic counterpart. Having said that, it is a great watch. It is very detailed and the Venus chronograph movement is reliable as they come; provided you get it serviced soon after arrival.
  2. These perhaps? They come in a variety of different woods. inlay/no inlay as well as carbon fiber. http://www.network54.com/Forum/353393/thread/1267138732/last-1267138732/FS-+++FINE+WATCH+BOXES++-++ideal+for+PANERAI+WATCHES
  3. This guy does great work in calf and exotic leathers. I think his IWC style bands are very close to genuine in terms of appearance and quality. He also offers IWC style buckles at a discount when you purchase a strap, if I recall correctly. http://forums.watchnet.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=582631&rid=0
  4. It seems to me, from what I've seen these are suffering from the common problem among Rolex reps; the hands are too close to the dial.
  5. I'm sure after time the gloss should fade, but you could try mink oil, that takes gives shoes a bit of a matte finish and helps preserve the leather. Just my two cents.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought blue dialed IWCs were almost exclusively Laureus Foundation special editions.
  7. I think this may be what you are looking for. http://stores.ebay.com/myjewelrygallery
  8. Is he an IWC "ambassador"? In the movie Casino Jack, where he portrayed the lobbyist Jack Abramoff; he wore a rose gold Ingenieur chronograph. Pic here: http://watchesinmovies.info/?s=casino+jack
  9. Can't go wrong with a digital multifunction like this: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-F201WA-1A-Multi-Function-Alarm-Sports/dp/B002J4UBJ0/ref=sr_1_2?s=watches&ie=UTF8&qid=1360397459&sr=1-2&keywords=casio All the info about the date and time are clearly visible, water resistant and if it breaks, you wont feel too bad with a price tag of around $10. Also it's a petite 34mm.
  10. A watch with a metal bracelet is appropriate for all but the most formal occasions. While a watch on a leather band is often seen as being dressy. The quality of replica leather watchbands are pretty terrible; I don't think they are even cow leather, possibly pig leather. When you physically touch one they feel like plastic. Now having said that, for your choice of the Transocean, it is a classic understated design, so I would pair it with a simple black calf-skin band. I think your choice for is a great one. The most common complaint about this watch is that the datewheel is white, when it should be black. Before your purchase you may also want to consider the replica Omega Speedmaster with the Lemania handwound movement. It is a similar design and a pretty accurate piece.
  11. You could try asking the dealers for an replacement Ingenieur bracelet; that may work, but I'm not 100% positive.
  12. I am excited about the new Ingy (ref 3239). 40mm and 10mm thick. Perfect size. As much as I loved the old Ingy it was a hefty chunk of steel.
  13. It seems many members will swear by Gary Clark's watch parts. His eBay store is nostalgia-2000.
  14. Yes, the more expensive watches tend to have a better finish. (and a better movement) Many members recommend that you immediately have the a7750 movements serviced. As a rule you should not set the date between 10-3. If I want to change the date, I set the time to 6:30. The portofino chrono you linked in the description does look good at a glance, but there are many details that are wrong; and these details have been covered in a previous thread.
  15. This may be off topic, but Bill Yao at MKII has been working on a Pan Am GMT homage for over a year now. I'm hoping he's offering a plank kit with both the black/white dials, pepsi/black inserts with the rivet bracelet; as he did with the Kingston 6538 homage. The price tag is definitely going to be $1000+ but the quality is certainly there.
  16. As the headline reads. Pics aren't that great, but personally I've been waiting for these models since they were unveiled last year. The only thing I'm pensive about is the pushers look a bit off and the subdials may or may not be raised as per gen. But I'd have to see the QC pics to make a real decision. What say you? 17. A cursory glance make me think they did away with the blocky datewheel numerals. Should be one less thing for the factories to get wrong.
  18. It can, but in order to convert for a 2836 you will need new hands, datewheel, crown stem, movement spacer, and possibly a dial spacer.
  19. <p>I think this rep is simply a blue version of the original sandblasted silver.&nbsp; No sunburst there...</p>
  20. There are some new yachtmasters on trusty and perfect clones, available in the full and mid-sized versions. But sadly the dial and hands are wrong. (non-surburst dial and fat hour hand)
  21. Have you tried manually winding it for a good two minutes and then checking the timing? It's a common occurrence that happens with 21j asian movements. Sometimes they last a week, while others last 2+ years. Lucky for you these movements are cheap to replace. See here: http://www.ofrei.com/page1119.html
  22. HartDoc, boots by Alden are fantastic. The best build quality I've encountered, with the exception of John Lobb; but the quality is reflected in the price. When buying Alden boots, be sure to go down a half size as they wear slightly large.
  23. Michael_B, those are exactly my sentiments. The only reason why I would even consider the rep with the leather strap is for the buckle; which seems to be of decent quality.
  24. I've been waiting for this one for a while as well. It looks great on a leather band, but I'm torn between that and the mesh bracelet. At ant rate, here are the QC pics from Josh's site: http://imgur.com/a/6XBz2
  25. The non-chrono Santos is 42mm for the largest men's size. The chronograph is 46mm. The Santos 100 is 38mm.
