  1. Are you chillermusc? Or are you thinking of buying this from him?
  2. Gen sigma dial, gen bezel pushers and crown make it worth more, I know this piece, (gorgeous by the way!). I'd say its on par with the other one for sale

Thank you, I will have my watchsmith give it a service before he changes the hands and crystal.

Nanuq, I just realized I can finally use that tropic 17! I think it's the right one for this watch just hope it fits! It didn't fit on my 5510

Thanks guys, I will be using an old A296 bubble back movement, hopefully there are enough of them still around for parts in the future. Minh will be supplying it.

I've always been very in love with the no crown guard subs, so much so that I recently got a gen 5508 no crown guard. I have been planning to do a grail build after realizing that some of the older models like the 6200's or 6538's are just too expensive. I might be able to afford a decent 6536 one day but in the meantime I will try to make an amazing 6200. I spoke with Minh about it and have decided to use his services for the build. I have everything sorted out but he doesn't have a gilt seconds hand that has the extra large lume dot on it.. I think they all had this so to me it would look funny with a reg sized lume dot. I found the right ones at classicwatchparts (in the photo) so it shouldn't be too hard to get my local watchsmith to swap hands. Here's a couple pics of the look I'm going for, I'll be back in here next week to show the final product
  7. Why not buy the proper one with working subdials from dw? It's not very expensive, maybe slightly more than the cartel version you're referring to
  8. Dw has the most acurate ones, he's listed here as a seller
  9. I feel like I have to say something, this guy is a scammer plain and simple. He is known on every rep and gen forum as such. He has done many people wrong, and if in this one specific case he actually bought a watch with his own $, which I still doubt, and you don't have a problem then that's great. It doesn't mean that every wrong he has done automatically gets forgiven because of this one experience wouldn't you agree? He is still a scammer, what he has done to others will never be forgiven and he is not welcome anywhere
  10. Is it a Minh case set and dial? Lol, same time.. Phong's stuff is top notch
  11. You were right! I got banned, lol they are too sensitive I think
  12. The watch won't be perfect because the dial is a rep. It is way too expensive to put a gen gold pn dial on it so it will always look like a rep dial.. His dials are good but not great and certainly not perfect. That is why people including myself have opted for his ss non pn versions because then you can upgrade the dial for gen. A gen non pn dial is in the 2000$ ballpark so it's a great option. I would NOT pay phong 14k for a gold fake newman. I would however spend 4-5k on his case set and movement, and then add a gen dial and hands afterwards. It's up to you but 14k can get you an amazing gen red sub with box papers and money left over for example why would you spend that on a rep? There is a completed ss phong daytona with many gen parts and a gen dial in the sales section, you might want to look at that as an option as its already completed and has gen parts that cost the builder more than he will make selling it..
  13. I notified the seller and just realized that nanuq did too. Hopefully the news will spread and he won't be able to get away with it any more!!
  14. So send him the watch but please don't feel bad for this guy, he is the same person who had been trying to scam people here. 100%. He might be making these transactions to put the watches on eBay or some e-listing somewhere and make them out to be gens, he's exactly the type that would do that. He has admitted steeling from many people on many forums including from a dealer, phong. If the money is locked in your account then great. I wouldn't be surprised to see your watch on ebay soon for 6000$ trying to pass as a gen... Food for thought
  15. I made a few comments over there, couldn't help myself
