  1. All APROO has the same flaw of having the date window sit far on the right. This is default and can't be changed......at least till today. You'll never know though, the Chinese can now clone the 7753.............

And the good thing about Safari is that you don't have to care about the relume, this really is a good bonus.

Sorry, but what do you mean? Why wouldn't you need to care about reluming particularly on the Safari model?

  2. Well, check the indexes here

    http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/134465-ap-diver-pics/page__p__989655__hl__diver__fromsearch__1#entry989655

    That was the rep.

Now check the gen here, the last pic with the watch on it at the bottom of the screen. Lume should touch top and bottom of the indexes.

I know, not a tell unless you know, but side by side it will show immediately. 12 glaring tells...

I'm still having trouble seeing what you are referring to. Do you mean that the hour markers on the rep are a tad bit shorter than on the gen?

  3. The crown is a screw in style where it has threads (like a nut) and attaches onto the tube (like a bolt). If the crown isn't properly put onto the tube after you are done adjusting the watch, the threads will break apart since they aren't lined up. Think of like a soda bottle where you can't get the cap back on!

FYI the watch to the right is the newer version of the Seamaster Chronometer 300M. It differs most notably with the red text and the missing lume which you caught. A big issue on these watches is the pearl (make sure it's centered and aligned properly and not outside the triangle), the HE valve HAS to be at the 10 o'clock position on this model, the red color should be red and not a reddish orange like on a few reps. Also another giveaway to look for is the bezel. Notice by the #'s such as 30, on the gen model the bezel is NOT cut into and has an engraved section after that position and then once again solid where it says 40. Also I believe that there is an issue with the rep's using screws vs pins or something of the nature on the bracelet. I can't remember since it's so late but there was def. an issue on the earlier models when I was looking at them a few months ago.

Gotcha. But all these problems have been worked out on the non-red rep version, right?

  4. I believe the "gen" 288 has an in-house movement & does NOT look anything like the ETA 7750???

does anyone know on the PAM 288 Ultimate, the Asian 7750 movement is the "old modified" from the A7750 movement (running sec @ 9 o'clock) that could potentially have problems in the future as it's NOT correctly "geared".

    is that correct???

Yes, the gen 288 has an in-house OPXII movement. But it also has a closed caseback, so it's not on display.

I was actually wondering more about the 214 since it does have a display caseback. Does anyone know how far off it is from the gen? I've only been able to look at web pics, but from what I can see it's not too far off...

  5. Anything without writing on the caseback is incorrect and should be avoided.

I'm confused now - should the correct accurate rep have "Royal Oak Offshore" on the caseback or not?

And where are people seeing this V2? I'm looking on the sites of the usual sellers, and I only see one version.

  6. Hi everyone,

I've been lurking about for the last week or so and decided it was time I joined up and said hello! I am totally new to the rep world and luckily found this site before I placed any orders. After having a browse about I've started out with a Beginmariner from Josh, which I hope will arrive soon. There is no doubt in my mind that had I not stumbled across your forum, I would have ended up getting scammed by one of google's finest :).

Thanks again, I'm off to do some reading - it looks like there is a LOT to learn!

Welcome! I'm new, just like you...so...what's a Beginmariner? Something to do with a Submariner, I suppose?

  7. I prefer the 214! I have scored a gen dial for it so it's leaving very soon to my watchmaker!

I understand that people are not going for the "rattrapante" version, but how many time do you think a gen owner is playing with that pusher? The opencaseback, I don't care it's on my wrist so nobody sees it!

I agree about the pusher at the 8 position. But what's wrong with the open caseback? I thought they had a good replica of the movement and rotor, no?

  8. Taken fresh today so excuse the iPhone blurriness. I think the crown on the Radiomir is far more elegant than the standard Panerai CG. Apparently the Black Seal is also an amazing rep if PVD is your thing.

Beautiful! I am very well have to place and order for that today!

  9. Before the UPO i think there was a V2 model that had incorrect HE valve and case shape. So the UPO was NOT a new model.. just another step in a long line of changes. The only thing I'm trying to say is that sometimes it takes just that long for incremental changes (like the correction of "happy feet" logo)

I agree, buddy. But I think you misunderstood what I meant. What I was trying to say is that the gen PO was a new model when it first came out. So the rep factories needed to go through a lot of iterations to rep it correctly. With the new gen PO, there are only incremental changes. So my guess is that it won't take the factories another 3-6 years to get the new one repped correctly.

  10. 3 years ?

I'd say more like 6 or 7 years. the clown feet UPO came out in 2006, that wasn't even corrected until a few months ago.

Wow, that's quite a while. But that was also because the PO was a completely new model. For incremental changes, like on this new PO, hopefully it won't take that long.

  11. Personally I would go for the 288K due to the faux pusher at 7 on the rattrapante reps. To me, having a fully working rep is important though so the lack of the working second hand would drive me mad.

The 288K is an amazing rep that very rarely leaves my wrist as it looks perfect. I purchased it from Andrew @trustytime a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I spent the extra $100 and got the "gen" croc strap which, paired with the deployant it comes with, looks incredible.

The other option could be either the 212I or the 253I which are made by the same factory and both are apparently as good as the 288.

BTW the AR on the 288 is crystal clear and the lume is very bright.

Thanks for your feedback. Although the 212 and 253 are beautiful models, for this particular purchase, I'm looking for a Rad model.

Got any pictures of your 288? :-)

  12. Woud be great if they made a master compressor, I'm sure that would sell like hotcakes

I'm all about a Master World Geographic. Heck, you'd think the Master Control would be a no-brainer. I wonder why that one hasn't been repped yet - seems like a simple 2824 movement to me...

  13. Hey guys, I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this model...until I got completely confused on the different versions of it out there.

There's obviously the high-end 1:1 version. But there are at least 2 other less expensive versions, and from the pictures they look exactly the same (aside from the rotor in the back, obviously).

Can someone help me understand what the differences are, and if I buy the "lower end" version, it is really far off?

    Thanks.

  14. Don't wait for the New Rep as it seems to take 3 or 4 versions to get an ultimate .

The 42 or 45 UPO is very good and a pleasure to own.

    Pull the trigger now!

How long did it take the current PO to get to ultimate status?

  15. I still recall the Safari had a plain white dial when it was first released. Obviously this has been improved in the latest version, surely now I can see a creamy dial with white subdials. This makes the model to be one of the my next seriously considered purchase, but then now they have the Diver which is so stunningly finished..........

Haha, yeah. I've had my eye on that one, too. That rotating inner ring is amazing.

  16. Interesting.. Just looking at Omega's website and you're right that there's a new version with He valve aligned at 10. Not sure if this is the mainstream version or not, as they still also have the classic stainless steel version with white dial writing and black bezel insert. The new version looks a lot like the Liquid metal version just in 45.5mm size.

It's also available in 42mm. Don't forget the hour markers have been updated as well.

  17. Since joshua and angus is trusted dealer here, and they sell same products, does that mean that their products are from the same factory?

For example, both offers pam 253I. At the same price. So does that mean there is no difference between the watches?

Sorry, I'm still new to all this. Which one of the sellers is Angus?
